  1. almost infinite drives. count your IDE (count each IDE slot on mobo as 2 drives) and SATA ports, then your USB ports and any e-SATA, or Firewire too. then thats how many you can have. add some PCI/PCI-E cards for more. But if you go anymore than 2 internal drives... i'd suggest using RAID. I run a RAID 0 right now with 2 320GBs (acts as one drive, "stripes" data onto the 2) and my performance is up 40% over regular 7200RPM drives. Problem is i have no backup or UPS lol. so if i encounter a problem where a HDD would normally drop dead, i lose both . RAID is the way to go, especially for extremely large amounts of files... RAID up some raptors in any 0 configuration and WHOA. SCSI drives generally are 15000RPM but i think theres some OS and mobo limitations to using SCSI, and the price is much higher. Solid State drives are ABSOLUTELY top of the line in basically all specs of HDDs. But insanely expensive currently.
  2. Once you share files... on another computer u can simply go to "My Network Places" and the folders should show up. They will list both the computer name and the folder. Example: Hit the windows key + E to open the file browser. then on the left panel listing folders, "My Network Places" will be listed. if your looking for the "movies" folder on "my desktop" computer, it will be listed as "movies on my desktop" TO QUICKLY GO TO SPECIFIC FOLDER: open "windows explorer" (win+e) then type in the address bar the "\\computername\foldername" which in this example is "\\my desktop\movies" good luck!
  3. kensington makes a pretty good one that sticks out of your usb port less than 1/8th of an inch. a more expensive one tho. bluetooth on a PC isn't worth a whole lot tho, unless u use your pc for phone calls or something.
  4. i've never felt defragmenting to be all that important. its at best a once a yaer thing to do, again unless you often move VERY LARGE files around. there are some free defrag progs out there that are legit and work well... idk which. i do like the tutorials idea. i got plenty of knowledge and do pleeeeenty of tech support. if ya ever want some help, or if any1 has a request for a tutorial.
  5. i got non-working buttons on my laptop too. making different cases based upon small things like bluetooth is a big waste of money in the manufacturing department, so they skip it, and leave the button for all.
  6. windows key + tab with Aero enabled for the "Flip 3D" effect in Vista try it while playing a video! Got chrome.. while it is a bit faster than other browsers i've used, i'll be waiting for new versions. also, you can expand textboxes! thats pretty darn cool.
  7. yeah, ur pretty screwed. most schools that have wireless still have the ethernet jacks in the room... bring it up with the tech guys there or switch rooms.
  8. Most FPS problems are related to CPU usage since the Steam Engine sucks the CPU like a vampire as opposed to most other games. Like Pot said, check for viruses/spyware/adware. You might want to turn off programs loading at startup also as this can have a decent effect on memory and cpu usage. If all else fails, you'd probably do yourself good if you backed up files and did a format/clean install of windows. Its quick and ez and solve a multitude of problems, while offering a bit of a performance boost since everything is clean.
  9. could be a plugin problem since that page that displays is using Internet Explorer, i've heard of this before, but they guy didn't get a solution. are you using IE7 or IE6? I think this guy had IE7 on XP. Look into it, and maybe going back to IE6 if you have 7 and see what happens.
  10. the iphone is a phone for regular people. its not for the smartphone/pocketpc crowd as it lacks MANY basic features of these. its a fun phone, and good media player, they easily take the cake for the normal phone audience. but anyone with a use for a smartphone/ppc, good news is coming. nVidia has a chip that it will be placing in Windows Mobile smartphone. the nVidia Tegra chip is insane as far as mobile products go. It runs Quake 3, playsback 1080P video for up to 10hrs, and has an incredible standby and even regular battery life. keep a look out for this in the near future. Q1 2009 is the project release of the first phone with the Tegra i believe.
  11. steam is too messed up. generally close steam and delete clientregistry.blob only. the thing with friends may have been caused by the other 2 files you deleted. sometimes it can be a general error on Steam's side and not that lil screw up with the .blob file, prolly why it took you so long.
