Caution

Minecraft has been tried over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again by multiple different people, with multiple different game modes, during multiple different time frames. Minecraft. Does. Not. Work. For. SG. It's a waste of resources, as it has been proven time and time again. The people who worked on MC busted their ass from what I read and from talking to the players at the time - it simply does not work out with SG. I will not allow SG funds be used towards Minecraft, without establishing some sort of player base and a minimum of 6 month server consistency for me to even consider taking over server payments for it. @Third has kindly offered to use some of his server space to host it, which I am fine with. Third is approved to use SG name, logo, rules, a forum spot here, etc. He is also completely and entirely in charge of it and promoting who you want to help you manage / administrate it. So suggestion is both approved and denied, I suppose.

To add onto this: There’s some sort of disconnect for what abuse actually is. While there’s an argument to be made for ‘they’re abusing their abilities to speak while dead’, I think that it’s not completely out of this world to play devil’s advocate and understand that some may see it as a perk to being admin. Obviously, talking over orders or something like that disrupts gameplay and can be handled as such, but even something like them commentating (ie “oh damn! Nice shot!”) occasionally would hardly be classified as abuse, imo. I don’t think that a situation like this would ever even need to see an admin complaint - I think that by addressing an issue directly by asking them to stop talking because you can’t hear the orders or something would be the end of that. Tbh if I saw a complaint on something like that, and the complainer never even asked the admin to stop, I’d probably reject the complaint. Situations can (and should) be handled at the lowest level possible.

This has been an 'issue' since the beginning of PB. I've personally never viewed it as teamkilling, and view it as a reasonable part of the roleplay. The opposing viewpoint is 'well prisoners wouldn't have knives in a real prison!' which I think is going a step too far with that line of thinking, tbh - ie, prisoners generally wouldn't go to a pool, run into a big cage, and guards are almost always (if not literally always) not carrying guns on them during routine shit. I think that it's pretty reasonable that there are snitches, and the people that do so are generally disliked and dig their own graves, so to speak. It's definitely douchey, but to create a rule about it seems far-fetched, imo. I think saying it's teamkilling is a considerable stretch, considering it's indirect, at best. They have no control over the actions of a CT, regardless of if they provide information or don't. At the end of the day, it's some sweaty teenager who is controlling the mouse and keyboard and who chooses to shoot the virtual video game gun or not. Creating a rule against this would open up an entire can of worms that I wouldn't even want to have to touch. What is 'snitching'? Sure, we can think of obvious situations, but what about all of the non-obvious ones? If they don't say anything, but they air knife in the general direction, is that snitching? That question is rhetorical, but is moreso meant to trigger the thought process of the amount of loopholes and workarounds that people can (and probably would do) to catch a free day. To sum up my opinion: it has always been a part of the game mode, and I think it's reasonable (but yes, completely douchey). I personally wouldn't, but I think the server weeds out the people who do through verbal seek-and-destroy. I believe that making a rule against it would open up a gigantic can of worms that wouldn't be worth it in the long run. But maybe it would be worth giving it a try; who knows?

Hey everyone, Whole bunch of changes going on! We've got some rule changes, server changes, and plenty of staffing changes due to tons of people being busy or just getting burned out. First of all, thanks to Grateful, Wavy, Greggy G, and Gumline for your hard work before stepping down, we appreciate it and understand you moving on. There's still another high profile step down to come, but they will announce it later as they finish wrapping things up. Moving on, we have some promotions! We're going to bring back two LG's into some higher up roles. Dominic and Lampshade have taken some time off from their previous roles, and have decided to come back here as not only AT's, but also IA's! They have shown they are extremely dedicated to Steam-Gamers. While there has definitely been some lengthy conversations discussing our expectations and whatnot, but they have agreed to come back and work hard. Based on all his feedback and contribution, we have decided to put Dominic where he obviously belongs: our new Moonbase Alpha server! Lampshade has shown interest in TTT, so that's where he shall go.
