Don't know about the others but the SecuROM one is to keep you from messing up their retarded copy protection scheme. I don't think it's a rootkit, just more of game DRM type protection scheme.

Yea, that's the only thing that fumes me about this game. DRM and securom's bullshit. Look at Company of Heroes, absolutely no copy protection or CD required to play the game even after installation. It has gotten rave reviews simply for that. Who is DRM limiting most? The consumer or the pirates who always get around it?

Cool thing is since this is based on the UT3 engine, a linux port shouldn't be too hard since UT3 has been confirmed to have a native linux client.

Yea, I just got through playing System Shock 2 for the n^8th time. I should be able to play Bioshock on medium with my setup, I'm also getting the retail version instead of the one off steam. It just feels better to have a physical copy.

My linux desktop, my windows desktop is nothing special so I won't be posting it. The windows desktop is classic theme without any effects or eye candy for maximum performance. I've got compiz fusion setup and running on my linux partition, if you don't know what compiz fusion is its a merge of the compiz and beryl window manager projects. Here's a of it on action.
