Why does it even matter on properly labeling the genres? Every band is different from one another and clumping them together into one "label" is pretty degrading. There are always going to be idiots that use inaccurate labels on bands but there isn't much you can do, other then accept the fact. I've given up on labeling bands because it's pointless - it doesn't accomplish anything. It usually results in assumptions such as "Great, this band is labeled metalcore. I guess they suck because I hate other metalcore bands" When in reality they could be a band you fall in love with. Not to mention, bands change their sound from album to album. Threads like this do nothing to accomplish anything, other then a lot of arguing on who is right and who is wrong. Sorry, just my two cents. I've seen this debate for years and it never changes.

People that hate the band are just going to hate because of their tastes - nothing you can do about that. Lots of people criticize Corey's vocals (especially live) and how they re-use riffs a bunch. Oh, and can't forget the classic "Metallica ripoff" label. But yeah, screw the people that hate on the band..their loss. I love Ascendancy, and Shogun had some good songs too. I'm hoping to try and warm up enough to start playing some of their songs on guitar this summer..they play so god damn fast.

maybe you have to play guitar to truly appreciate how awesome he is.. but yeah, he sure is amazing. inspiring, too. i'm purchasing a POD X3 after reading how much he loves his. another good channel is musicman1066 killrbuckeye and musicman1066 actually work together to tab out songs, and both use the same recording process..ect. he only has one original song, though.

i sort of didn't even care for this album, for no real reason i don't think i've even listened to any of the songs off it.. maybe metallica isn't my cup of tea :\

lol what you said is pretty true about people that listen to slipknot. some people don't listen to it even for the music, just a status or something.. I listen to what I listen to because I enjoy it, simple as that

The way your coming off IS elitist. Your saying they are bad because your stereotyping the fans. Is that what you look for in a band? Sorry, I let music come first..who care's if retards listen to the band, lol. Calling slipknot pop is really stupid too. Sure, they aren't the most brutal band out there, but they have some heavy songs. The newer CD isn't as heavy as their old stuff, but hey, it's up to what you like. If you actually looked into it you might be impressed.. not to mention that their CD has gotten a lot of positive ratings. For the record slipknot is not my favorite band or anything. I didn't really care about them until I decided to look into them, and yeah I was quite impressed. Not forcing my opinion on you :\ But it sounds like you haven't really listened to anything besides their singles.
