  2. Summer Jobs

I sit around a lot, playing video games, and occasionally have to work on an escalated support ticket. I take home $3100 a month.
  3. New TF2 Server?

I say we should run a TF2 server, rotation of popular maps, and use this plugin: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=160049 Now people might complain and say that excludes player base, but anybody can buy just 1 item from the cash shop to become premium. Running the server with that mod would keep the vac ban system working like it should in regards to hackers, and also deter any kind of ban evasion.

  5. A few of my friends bought Asus brand laptops and love them (I'm rich and bought an expensive Dell). while the plastic case on them is not the best, as long as you don't drop them they will last a good number of years. 17" model, 8gb ram, 1.66ghz Core i7, Mobility Radeon 5870 $1,599.99 out the door: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220695 15" model, 4gb ram, 1.66ghz Core i7, Mobility Nvidia GTS 360M $1,274.99 out the door: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220700 And kicks the shit out of even the just released updated macbooks xD Damn.... I might buy one, my dell is getting kind of old
  6. Nvidia or ATI?

fact, ATI has a much better selection of cards for multi monitor gaming, and one monitor is not enough anymore
  7. cat6 is required for 10gb ethernet, but unless you want to pay $1000 for a switch and $300 to $500 for a network card, it's not anything to worry about. Any cat5 you buy today is going to be cat5e, which is fine for 1gb ethernet. If your going to go wireless, buy a card with a broadcom chipset, as they are of very good quality (mac computers use them mostly exclusively, and most cellphone pda's use broadcom for wireless).
  8. Plus, you would need to deal with copyrite issues..
  9. I'm broke this month, just bought a mazda rx8 :D :D
  10. 5 hours of work time, 60+ hours of play time on the servers, i think it's a fair ratio I have several friends with 8+ wow accounts, just think what they pay per month ;) ( and wow sucks, btw )
  11. what do you mean, this is the haggard keg fund drive here.
  12. tell steam to verify your counter-strike files?
  13. Redhat 5, Mac OS 6, Windows 2.0 and Dos 5.0 were my firsts.
  14. If you can, I would recommend Dell's S2209W, it has a great refresh rate and 1080P native resolution. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7438
  15. DDR2 vs DDR3

DDR 2 latency timings are faster ( the time it takes to move data from place A to place B ) DDR 2 Bandwidth generally maxes out at 800mhz (per specification), although it can be overclocked beyond this. DDR 3 latency timings are slightly slower then DDR 2 DDR 3 By Specification supports 1333Mhz, Also which can be overclocked Dual Channel and Triple Channel enable a memory controller to read points in ram simultaneously. Normally a computer can only read one place in ram at a given point in CPU execution. By creating a matched pair or triplet, The memory controller can guarantee each chip is running in sync, and provide a path to each. (Theoretically, this double's or triples the memories effective speed) Note, DDR stands for double data rate, the actual clock frequency of the memory chips can be calculated by a divisor based on the memory technology. (SDRAM is at speed, DDR divide by 2, DDR2 divide by 4, DDR3 divide by 8). The reason for this, two memory operations at once, then double or quadruple the internal memory channels per technology. DDR1 400mhz, DDR2 400mhz, and DDR3 400mhz. DDR1 is 400MHz, DDR2 is 800MHz effective, and DDR3 is 1600MHz effective. Hope that clears that up xD
  16. The western digital black 1tb drives are only marginally slower then the velociraptor drives for most usage patterns, I wouldn't suggest the big price increase for shaving a few seconds off of load times. The reason a 7200rpm drive of that size is almost the same in speed as a 300gb 10k drive is because of simple mechanics. The 1tb drive has two 500gb spinning platters, while the raptor as two 150gb platters. They physically measure the same in size, but for every read/write operation the raptor has to make, it has to move the hard drive head 3.5 times further on the spinning disk platter. This creates a delay in switching between various places on the disk drive.
  17. Don't buy the Western Digital RE3 series for a desktop computer as your primary hard drive. That is an enterprise class drive designed for extended lifetime and raid. It's transfer speeds will be slower by itself (I have 6 of them in a raid 5 at work, and they are very fast in this setup). My 1tb Western Digital Black Transfers 15-20Mbps faster then these drives in write operations when using just the one drive. If you really want the enterprise storage solution, buy those in pairs for raid1 or 3+ for raid5, otherwise your wasting money on a relatively slower drive with no benefits. (Also, use a real raid controller like the PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller (PERC) 5/i).

I think i've given you enough admin slut D:

  19. I donated $12.34 $56.78 :d I couldn't afford the last $90
