The carcinogens are produced from the combustion of the plant material. Most smoke is dangerous to the body for that specific reason. When marijuana is placed in foods or liquids it does not produce any carcinogens because there is no chemical reaction taking place to create the carcinogens. I've done far "worse" substances then marijuana yet I graduated high school with an A average, I am finishing my two year degree in Biology next fall, I am in the New Jersey Air National Guard, and I've been gainfully employed since I was 16 and have only lost jobs to economic reasons. Your argument would only make sense if there wasn't a 3rd party between the drug companies and the consumers which moderate and control the amount of OTC drugs to be given to the consumer.

Since your talking about the long run it would be wise to say that marijuana would be just as destructive if not more then cigarettes. Lung and throat disease, cancer, free radical damages just to name a few. Not to mention that prescription drugs are clinically tested to provide the least amount of bodily damage to its user or else it would have ever gotten out of the animal testing phase. I don't know how you can say with a straight face that prescription drugs are far worse then marijuana in the long run.

Although I do agree with your statements and the benefits of legalization of illicit substances, I must say that you can not speak of the effects of a hallucinogenic drug and how it can affect others unless you yourself have experienced a psychedelic trip. Even an alone individual in the comfort of his home may find himself outside and in the public area under the influences of a psychedelic drug. It happens, it has happened to me, and it has happened to friends. This alone though can not invalidate the argument to not legalize psychedelic substances because the ability and will to venture into the public sector while intoxicated is an individual act whether or not you are conscious about it. A man in a drunken stupor wandering down the street is just the same as a man in a psychedelic trip wandering down the street; with regards to intoxication and public domain. The point of the legalization of drugs is harm REDUCTION. Not to wipe out all forms of drug related deaths; which is idealistic and childish. The main argument should be whether more violence and deaths are found withing the different legality of drugs, because there is always risk involved in drug use whether illegal or legal.

The hell you talking about? No one laces LSD, the concentrations of LSD are so minute that it would be utterly ridiculous. You are thinking about laced marijuana which is a rare occurrence at best. Not to mention the reason why marijuana would be laced with PCP would be for the user to smoke the PCP compound. PCP is a liquid and needs a smokable material to be sprayed on to inhale; LSD blotters don't make the cut.

Maybe if we were talking about heroin. I can guarantee you that there is no terrorist group out there that makes most of its income selling weed. Most of the weed coming into the US comes from either rural Canada or Mexico, none of which harboring anti-us terrorists. Not exactly the most friendly of nations, but by far much more "understanding" of western ideals as their Islamic brothers. Weed funding terrorism is a huge myth/scare tactic used by lazy anti-drug campaigns. The only drug out there that has a direct link to supporting terrorist groups would be heroin since its primary component; opium comes from Afghanistan and other far eastern countries. FUN FACT when the Taliban was knocked from power in Afghanistan opium production reached its highest production output in history. If you want to be extremely loose with the term "terrorism" you can also link cocaine in. Cocaine is primarily produced in Columbia and Boliva more often then not by the FARK and other similar groups and cartels.
