I would suggest you learn the syntax of programming first by learning web-associated languages eg: java/php/actionscript. After that you can move on to game dev C++/C/C#. And Html is not programming. please. The easiest to learn any C languages is to begin with a Game_Engine wich has basic commands and start from 0. I got into c++ this year and Ive learnt the syntax first. Took me around 4-5 months(in my free time). this is step for step how i did it: * Learn how to draw stuff * Classes and objects * int and doubles * Strings and bitmaps * Random selections * Iterations + more advanced * Methods + advanced * Arrays * Classes advanced So I learnt how to split my files because you want to keep the code unreachable from others when you try to sell it. Thats why in c++ you have header files and game files. Anyway its a pretty difficult language to learn on your own. So I suggest take a course in the languages you want to code in later.

There were mapping contests in the past wich was promoted on other websites, and we had not even 15 mappers, of wich maybe 5 completed their map. It's not really popular And if I recall correctly, the prizes were huge

Same here Glad you asked first ^^ Buying flowers is a fast way of getting rid of wanting to buy a present. Presents dont always have to be something materialistic, I'm now together with my GF for small 2 weeks. And honestly I still dont have feelings for her. So I recommend before buying anything, learn to know eachother, maybe bring her to a favourite place of yours. Im hoping for more ideas of others =)
