Well if the cable isnt seated right restore wont help..but I dont see why that would happen to the cable. If it can be open without to much trouble and you can play around with the cable. If I remember right its a flat cable resembling an ata cable I would suggest doing that first just make sure you take you time to not loose any screws and put everything back together properly!

A core 2 quad might be a cheaper option with intel but 775 socket is dying/dead...so i5 would give you room for upgrade in the future..I dont know what amd is planning to do with their socket. these are example for your budget.. DX11 card might also be a smart move 5750 or something to that extent but the more you want the further you'll be from your budget..sapphire are probably the cheapest card with a decent name..then it gets a little more expensive. nVidia doesnt have "cheap" DX11 cards yet... If you go i5 it will take about 800 minimum! A mid range C2Q or AMD could take you under 750.. Jazzy your comment is stupid. If you can play legos you can build a computer.... Its not even a dozen components... The hardest thing about it is prolly applying the thermal past efficiently to have the lowest temps...I think mine has to much on and runs a little hot I need to open it up again.. Buy a corsair PSU to have plenty cable length And go to the stickies to find out good PC help websites...
