I miss the SG TF2 server it was hella fun especially when we had it full at 32 slots.. Steam/Valve whomever was responsible kinda screwed things over trying to force the no more than 24 slots thing. I'd be all for bringing it back!

Most of them are great! .. However I'd have to go with the server that brought me to this community in the first place.... GUNGAME! Although sadly very few of the admins play in there much anymore.

Jaffa's right.. High ping does not equal lag.. I average around 130 ping on all ZM servers, yet I rarely experience any lag.

Although for the most part that may be true......I'd have to disagree and here is why.. I work at a University and for over a year the main Statistical analysis software used on campus was not compatible with the Intel based Mac's. And yes that included running boot camp or parallels. Something in the emulation broke the mathematics in the stats application making any stats pulled while running on a Mac invalid. A lot of students had their research invalidated and had to start over almost from the beginning because they were unaware of the issue. I know that this isn't always the case but the mentality of "I can just put windows on my Mac" doesn't always work. For me it comes down to strictly numbers. We order bulk orders of high end pc's and mac's every year and ... 1- the Mac's for comparable hardware cost on average %20 more 2- for the prices we pay the warranty is 40% shorter 3 years for the macs and 5 years for the pc's (and on laptop the pc's cover accidental damage including dropping your laptop in a lake.. long story the macs don't) 3- Software compatibility will always be an issue. The above example is proof and I can provide the software vendors whitepapers on the issue if anyone wants them. 4- Overall cost of applications and administration is higher. We track the amount of time spent supporting each of our computers as well as the cost of software to support them. I could go on and on about why I wouldn't recommend buying a mac but I won't (And I used to be a Mac fanboy & have done a ton of contract support for Macs). I'm not a Mac hater I just can't justify spending more and getting less.

Ouch.. I never install PunkBuster NEVER! I made the mistake of installing it once.. years ago.. and I won't install it again.. I won't play on a server that requires it. Wish I had some advice as to how to get rid of it.. other than a reformat that is.

I played BF1942 on Vista this weekend and didn't run into any problems. What problems are you having?

As an IT "Pro" myself I think you are wrong! I have no problems with administrating a network of Vista computers. And as for "a new world of technology" there really isn't that much "new technology" in Vista. From a sys-admin standpoint there are some new features that are nice but looking at it from a business standpoint you have to make a case that would justify the cost involved to upgrade (IE: Licenses, Time and IT staff costs to install/maintain, deployment proceedures & application compatibility to name only a few of the issues). And the little gain in some areas in most cases just does not justify the cost involved with the swap. I don't think they are afraid.. in most cases they just can't justify the cost & time involved. I run Vista Ulitmate at home and XP Pro at work. I find that each has it's pros/cons. As for the negative publicity any new OS will get some of that due to the fact that users don't like change & don't like having to re-learn where to access certain features an example is office 2007 I constantly hear complaints that some of the keyboard shortcuts aren't the same, doesn't make it better or worse, just means you have to re-learn a keyboard shortcut or menu location & people don't like spending the time involved with the change.

Why would you want to game on that.. It may be very very fast .. and -1 ping is hard to beat, However.. It's got the equivalent to an integrated ATI Rage pro 128 for a video card.

Might help us help you if you posted the Specs for you laptop. Alot of laptops use video cards that share system RAM instead of having Video RAM. There are tons of things that can cause the BSOD.. but like previously stated usually it is a memory issue. If you video card is using shared memory that would most likely be the culprit.. but very hard to say.
