sounds like either: 1) an hl2.exe error 2)account verification error is commonly hand and hand with this. are you logged in somewhere else? 3)properly installed? probably the games are since they all do that. maybe steam....? Hope one of these helps, and if not, that one of the others can find out whats wrong. Good Luck!
