In most cases, Steam does not let me run any games, even single player games, if I lose internet connection. I lose internet connection frequently because of my location in my house, the basement. So, When the internet loses connection I can't even sit down for a nice game of Portal, I have to wait until the internet comes back for that. Point: I don't like Steam, But I have to use it Love/hate relationship. $0.02 Paid in Full.
