  1. What a journey it's been. Trust me when I tell you, I've written this post about ten times now. I'm not one for large or emotional posts, so I'll try to keep this as short and sweet as possible. I'm officially resigning as a member of the Board. It's approaching a year now that I've been on the Board and it's truly been an amazing experience. I've gone up and down the ranks many times, but to have been afforded the opportunity of being at the top is one I'm very appreciate of. Properly articulating how this community has changed me and watched me change is a difficult task. I first joined in September of 2015 as a 12 year old. This community watched as I entered my teenage years and here I am going onto 17. The hours of long talks about life, endless debates about the community and many friendships I've made have all had an impact on me, an impact I'm extremely grateful for. The amount of advice that I've taken from people at this community that has helped me, not only here, but in real life as well is too much to count. I'll never be able to repay you all for helping me to become the person I am today. Boys.. @eXtr3m3 @nick @roux @John @Zayne @Ned @Alex @DancingMoonLight.. it's been an honor. I'm glad to see some of you still representing in the staff ranks and I hope to see you guys continue to do great things. To the ones who have departed, thank you not only for the work you did here, but for being the coolest motherfuckers around. My clique has changed many times over the years, but I'm glad it finally got boiled down to the best people this community had to offer. We all know this isn't a goodbye, but it's not often that I tell you guys thank you and you've more than earned it. Thank you guys specifically for building me into who am I now.. you guys really did make me. To the current staff, you're all a very passionate group. The community is on the verge of doing some really big and great things and I'm excited to see them happen. The dedication and loyalty you guys show to this place is unmatched and a staff group like this is hard to come by. I'm going to send a few messages out to some people after this, but just know each and every one of you is appreciated for the work you guys do here. Taking time out of your life to assist in the growth of a community that brings people together is an honorable thing to do, who knows where I'd be today if the staff at the time didn't make Jailbreak enjoyable enough for me to keep playing. I'm not going to address each and every person or each and every rank, but I feel obligated to give a huge thank you to @Liam Brown and @Nishok, you guys really aren't recognized as much as you should be because the regulars can't properly comprehend how much you do for this place. While I know "thank you" isn't much compensation.. thank you. I'm done being a staff member here, but my love for this place remains the same. I hope it continues to thrive and I'll be here to watch as it does. Thank you to whoever put the pieces into place to bring me up to every staff rank I was in, especially the Board. Comparing Erik's resignation post to mine makes it feel like I haven't expressed my feelings enough, but there's really only one reason I wanted to leave with a thread, so, as the legend put it..
  2. This has been concluded, thank you all for your thoughts! The changes will be reflected on the new forum once we switch over.
  3. Greggy, I have just learned your hamster is Syrian. The current population of Syria is around 16.91 million. The amount of Jews residing in Syria is around 100. That means there is a 0.0006% chance of your hamster being Jewish. Please answer.
  4. Out of curiosity: is your hamster Jewish?
  5. Congrats gents!
  6. I have an insane amount of memories on TS, having used it at SG for nearly 5 years. The only reason I can really say it's "better" is just because of how familiar it was. I never noticed the difference in voice quality between the two until ~20 people were screaming simultaneously in a Discord channel, but hearing them clearly wouldn't have helped much in deciphering what they were saying anyway. Discord's look is much better and cleaner to me, which is a big reason I enjoy it. As far as the switch for the community, I think it's inevitable as TS will most likely get left in the past by everyone at some point in favor of Discord. One of the most disheartening things was going on Jailbreak and advertising a Jailbreak community meeting happening on TS then getting blasted for still using TS and being told no one was gonna come, but it was definitely a reality check on where things were headed.
  7. So let's redirect this thread towards the idea that seemed to have a lot of support at the community meeting earlier today. The idea being referenced is dropping everyone down to one rank, as opposed to the previous two or the current three. The name and color is up in the air, as you could really use any of the current three names / colors, however let's stick to the concept itself. It would be a primary rank, not a secondary one. If you ended up wanting to return to admin, you'd apply for it and you would no longer have your recognition rank if you were to get accepted. This would be one of the simplest ways of going about this. We recognize that not everyone was able to attend the meeting, so we encourage everyone to post how they feel about this idea here.
  8. You should be good now.
  9. Discord Changelog

6/5/20 - Restricted overflow access to capped channels to IA+ - Fixed Veterans being able to join voice channels under "General Chat" - Fixed being able to see voice channels for other games without the role - Added new server invite background and banner (thank you @nesquik) - Created #server-list and moved list of servers there - Edited #rules-and-info to include links to all of our socials - Added private voice channels. (thank you @Benzene, @Mikey, @Bacon) People allowed to create them are Subs, VIPs and Nitro Boosters. To create one, just join the "Join To Create" channel under the category and you'll instantly have one. The commands for the bot should be used in #pc-commands and are as follows: More to come.
  10. Comment at 4:07pm redacted.
  11. The server came out a very long time ago and a million and one things have changed since, but from now on we'll log changes here.
  12. Closing TS

Hello everyone, As you can see by the title, we're officially closing TeamSpeak. This discussion came up a couple of months ago and we asked for the community's input on the topic. To everyone who commented on it, we truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts. While we recognize there was quite a bit of retaliation against the idea, we, the Board, think it's in the community's best interest moving forward that we move everyone over to Discord. We believe the benefits of the move will far outweigh the difficulty of seeing it go. Since the discussion first came up, we've been working tirelessly to better the server as a whole. We've made major strides and we think the server both looks and functions much better than it did previously. However, we also recognize that there's lots to be done. We have many plans of our own, but we're also hoping that this will prompt you all to come forward with suggestions to help us out further. Over the next few weeks I have no doubt that many questions, suggestions and comments will be rolling in about the server. Myself and others will be working hard to tend to all of these. Once again, we appreciate you all for chiming in when we asked for your opinions. Now, we're looking for you to share your opinions on the server and give us feedback. We've created a Discord section similar to what all of the other servers have. As you can see if you click here, there is already a bug reporting thread. You can use this section to post any suggestions you have, big or small. Thanks guys.
  13. Please report any bugs you encounter on the Discord here. Providing as much detail as possible is highly appreciated.
  14. Yooooo, we're back. These promotions are pretty exciting, if I do say so myself. First up, we have a couple new dudes joining us on the Marketing Team! Both of these people have shown promising abilities that we believe will be effective in pushing our community forward. Additionally, both have done extremely well in their current positions here. Tyymunk and Greggy G are our newest additions to this team! We have a new Community Advisor joining us! This guy has been here in a higher-up position before and he's now returning to help out again. His work previously left us with complete faith in his ability to perform in a position like this, so promoting him was an easy choice. Ned is returning to our ranks! Next up, we're promoting a second Administrative Manager! This person is currently one of our most senior server managers and has displayed skills that will undoubtedly lead the Administrative Team in the right direction. Greggy G will be holding this position alongside Cept! Lastly, we're introducing a new rank. The Internal Affairs team hasn't had a manager as of yet. To increase the efficiency of the team and oversee its members, we've decided to introduce one. Our Internal Affairs Manager will oversee the team as any other manager does and will help us decide on promotions and handle any demotions. Additionally, they'll work to lead the discussions the team has and will be in charge of making sure all complaints, disputes, etc. are handled. The person we've chosen to hold this new rank is a longtime community member and has shown his abilities as a higher-up both in the past and now. His work in his current manager spot and on the IA team recently have stood out tremendously and we have the utmost confidence in his ability to take on this new responsibility. BoM will now lead this team! Congratulations everyone!
  15. Congrats, gentlemen.
  16. This is outrageous. I reached out on multiple occasions about my interest in Events Manager and I was pumping out 3 events a week.. and I get this? I've been working my ass off for months for this opportunity and finally this dumbass John leaves the spot and I didn't get promoted.. are you for real? I'm MEANT to lead this team; I was born for it. Rectify this mistake immediately. Congrats gents.
  17. Hey everyone, We have some very interesting promotions to announce today! First, we have a couple new Community Advisors joining us! These two people have been putting in a lot of time and effort recently and are evidently very dedicated to this place. Their continued activity and passion has earned them a spot in this new role. Joining the team today, we have Chad. and Disparity! Next up, we a new member of our Internal Affairs team. This person already holds a couple higher-up positions and they've been doing extremely good work thus far. They've clearly shown that they're ready to take on a more prominent role in the community through their actions. Infinityward is our newest addition to this team. Lastly, we have some extremely important promotions to announce. Promoting people to our Board is uncommon, but promoting two people at the same time is extremely rare. To our Board of Directors, we have two very promising promotions. These two people hold various ranks in the community and occupy multiple higher-up ranks each. The amount of time both of these people have poured into bettering this community is extraordinary and hard to come by. We're extremely pleased to be bringing them on board (get it) and we're excited for them to help us move the community forward. Your newest Directors are fantastic and John! Congratulations everyone!
  18. A while back in 2016 speaking while you were dead was a Subscriber perk. Given the arguments here are about chaos, restricting it to a certain donation tier probably wouldn't cause much and would be a neat perk. Myself and a lot of other Subscribers in the past really appreciated that ability and obviously put it to use. You could make arguments such as "they'll use it to complain about freekilling", but it's pure assumptions. They're reasonable assumptions, but assumptions nonetheless. TTT doesn't have the same voice communication issues we have and I believe it probably has a lot to do with the difference in the nature of the game mode, but you could reasonably make the same argument about dead chat on TTT. However, it seems to stay casual and not get out of hand, so for all you know it'd be the same on Jailbreak. I'm not going too in depth but there's definitely other positives you can argue like increased player retention. Chances are people would be willing to have a conversation over voice, but not in chat, thus potentially keeping them on the server if they're talking with people as opposed to just sitting there while dead. You could argue that it might be minuscule but that's personally what keeps me on TTT majority of the time, otherwise I get too bored to stay.
  19. Hello everyone, We have an exciting list of promotions to announce today! First, to the Modding Team, our newest addition will be drippy! His new responsibilities will include: Work with the Administrative Team to find and fix errors and exploits found in maps, models, textures, etc. Creating and developing projects for the servers including maps, models, textures, etc. Arming requested maps for use on the servers. Porting popular maps and models from other games to CS:GO for use on the servers. Work with the Media Team to develop graphics for completed projects. Work with the Administrative Team and Events Team for the production of event based projects. Next, to the Media Team, our newest member is thuxys! His new responsibilities will include: Manage forum and community website themes and layouts Manage all forum and community images (awards, rankbars, etc) Manage forum design sections (signature/avatar requests, etc) Manage branding and community logos/external advertising Work with the Administrative Team to keep in-game branding and design (map textures for SG) up to date and relevant Manage social media accounts (Youtube, Twitch, etc) Moving on, to the Marketing Team, we're bringing up fantastic! His new responsibilities will include: Manage all third party sites/applications. Manage all advertising, sponsorships, and affiliations. Recommend upgrades and general marketing aspects for the community. Research what the community likes / doesn't like. Upkeep the image of SG and help expand. Work with the Media Team to manage branding and community design. Work with the Media team to manage social media accounts (Youtube, Twitch, etc). To the Events Team, we have a returning member. Phoenix_ is joining us once again! His new responsibilities will include: Organize, plan, and run events Manage/Promote special events on our servers Manage and monitor gaming tournaments (ie. SGSL) Make sure servers are ready for all special events Schedule events to fill servers in need via the steam community Work with the Administrative Team to create events that cater to community interests Next up, we have quite a few new Community Advisors joining us! All of these people have been putting in a ton of effort and have shown that they're ready to move up. A couple of these people have actually already held this rank, so we're happy to welcome them back. Our newest additions are Tyymunk, bat, Damon, and Kieran! Moving on up, we have some new Administrative Team members! These guys have been working their asses off both up front and behind the scenes to better our servers. All of them have shown that they're ready to take on some more responsibilities and are evidently very passionate about moving the community forward. The newest members of this rank are Kopsta, Bright and Noxstar! Lastly, we have a new member of the Internal Affairs team! This person has been at SG for an extremely long time and has been in a higher-up position here before. Recently, they've poured an insane amount of time into leading the Marketing Team and they've put plenty of effort into completing projects on the Media Team. Their activity in discussion about community issues has shown us that they're ready to move up. BoM is our newest addition to this rank. Congratulations everyone!
  20. If conversions are on the table, let's convert TTT into a second Jailbreak server, that shit blows.
  21. Yes, you can use common sense when playing as a CT. If I'm playing on vipinthemix and I'm walking away from the cells and get shot by a USP, I can reasonably turn around and go gun down the T in the USP cell if there's only one T in there, because I know that's the only USP spawn. Utilizing common sense is fine for the most part, so long as it actually makes sense and there's no possibility for the T to make a reasonable argument against you. The ladder in the garage is the one that goes up to the secret, right? In that case, yes, there's no other use for the ladder besides trying to get to a secret, so it's KOS. Ladders are classified dependent on what they connect to.
  22. The discussion in the CA section regarding awards is about combining and removing some. The discussion has been going for two weeks so far, not months. The complete removal of awards as a whole is not happening, nor has it even been put on the table. When we think we need the community to chime in on something, we reach out, so if that becomes the case we will do so. As of right now that isn't the plan though. The recent backlash regarding the LG change is unfortunate, but doesn't create an argument for having open, public discussions about everything. If something gets changed that you don't agree with, you can obviously make a thread about it despite whether or not we end up going to the public.
  23. We're currently in talks about awards as a whole and playtime awards are being looked into. The discussion hasn't neared it's completion yet, but we'll hopefully know what we're going to do soon. Once that's done, we'll circle back to this and release that thread depending on if that's still what we want to do.
  24. I don't think an elo system in general belongs on a server like Jailbreak, despite how you present it. Any way you twist it, it will end horribly and produce the opposite of the effect you were hoping for it to cause, imo. If CTs gain / lose points for winning a round, people will flood off of CT to save their elo if they're losing and will flood onto CT to gain elo if they're winning. If you incorporate kills / assists / anything that has to do with damaging the Ts, I think you're inevitably going to end up with less roleplay and more DM - I personally think it's ignorant to say otherwise. Giving an incentive to damage the Ts will make people want to damage the Ts more often, it seems cut and dry to me. Even cutting anything relating to damage out of the picture, I don't foresee it having a positive affect on the server due to the aforementioned reasons.
  25. The Board is still in talks about potential changes and the system will probably end up being revamped in some way. However, we're swamped with some other projects that we're hoping to close out soon and it's unfortunately taking a bit longer due to 3/5 of the Board members being essential workers. We'll get back to you guys as soon as we can, feel free to continue posting.
