  1. CA+ is a moderation team, you don't need dedicated hall monitors Discord has also net us a whole 0 members in the YEARS the community has been pumping manpower into it. As far as I'm aware, no plan has been proposed or published that would realistically allow us to move forward in big strides as a discord specific community. Even the big "Discord communities" have an inflow from somewhere that they are centered around - YouTubers, Egirls, Brands, Servers etc. There are very few big servers that don't have a specific inlet, even so they tend to have a focus of sorts such as politics, modding, whatever. General gaming has the STEEPEST competition out of any of these categories. Please stop pushing this meme of Discord is super important and we're gonna hit it big as a Discord community if we just get partnered and keep putting time in. Go work or play on the servers.
  2. Quick thoughts Call it black market because it's cooler and fits in rp Have items available and limits scaled by CTs alive on round start Add !stripsearch or !search to target one prisoner by name and delete weapons once a round - gives a good buff to CTs but also adds elements in that would allow a stacked T to surrender or wager for a pardon etc.
  3. The SM/IA split is possibly the worst change to rank structure seen in the communities history. From having people handling ban appeals/demotions/promotions not actually interacting with the community (on the servers but also in TS and later Discord), to providing a pathway for people to this position (and BD) where they are never required to actually grow and manage the community in a real and measurable way. The board has always been somewhat disconnected from the community from their inactivity, which is where much of the frustration comes from, but I think it's permissible to some degree. Having a pathway to funnel people in just off the basis of being PC/mature enough and posting in enough threads? Trash, and sort of an arbitrary definition to make. I know it's been justified as "offloading some work from AOs" but it doesn't function that way. See CAs, work is offloaded to those that are capable and want to do it, it just put IAs above SMs like you couldn't trust someone to talk about demotions/promotions/unbans but you could trust them to manage an entire server. BoMs idea of specializations that aren't full ranks or teams is also a good idea, they've never been teams anyways. At best, the person in charge is checking to make sure everything is done (it never is), or usually it's just a bunch of guys who don't interact much and don't know what anyone else is doing but sort of do the same thing. It works better just having SMs and ETs reach out independently to people they like working with to add accountability and get things done more efficiently. I don't see why it would be too late to have this if we're already leaving teams here.
  4. LOL, girlfriend's dad, who's the same age, has remarkably similar mannerisms when he gets frustrated, can't unsee.
  5. I don't have healthcare, they're $200 out of network (I am poor)
  6. Just pay the $5 are u poor lol
  7. Goodbye and Good riddance, enjoy your time off the internet, king
  8. It's a convenient and easy explanation for why servers haven't been faring well and why the work that's put in is the best that can be done. Unfortunately, it's not entirely true and incessant peddling of it by staff members and regs just encourages people to be complacent with leaving them empty. There is very real things that can be pointed to and comparisons to be drawn that would explain the demise of our servers in particular but it's not really useful apart from demonstrating that our servers were not merely a victim of CS dying. The question is whether people still have enough steam to get the servers into a state where pop can be maintained. In the past it's been normal for SMs to put in 3, 4, 5 hours a day playing and working on their servers, and for the supporting staff to do the same. This was for servers that had established pop and regulars. It's not really anyone's fault of they don't have the time or motivation for it, but it's not useful for people to pretend they're putting in the amount of work that would be comparable to that of past managers or that they're pursuing success to the best of their abilities. Seeding isn't pinging the Discord or shoutbox twice a day until everyone mutes it. Seeding isn't sitting on the server but talking in Discord instead of engaging with players. I've not seen a great deal of changes introduced, explained, and hyped up by managers outside of changelogs. I've not seen managers often bringing most of their discussions to the forums to let players feel like they can facilitate change and that the servers are moving in a positive direction. "CS is dead" is a myth, and if it wasn't, it's not useful to think otherwise - we're just sitting at our lowest point with 1/4 the HP we've ever had. The good news is that our servers are already established in a mostly balanced, unique, and fun state, it's just a matter of recollecting a community. I don't mean to say we got this in the bag or that if people go nose to the grindstone we will definitely rebuild the servers, but it's tiring to see managers throw in the towel and repeat this useless and destructive meme.
  9. Someone managed to find a copy of my overhaul of razer including deathgames, minigames, balancing and a visual overhaul if any of you JB nuts want to slide into discord late nights and help me get this thing polished up. The board has a history of dashing talented passionate people but they seem to be pushing in the right direction recently, sad to see some of the lower staff and community members catching this brain disease recently though.
  10. Resolved in Discord. Jazzy's point is that there is a possibility that some of these 'illnesses' may present themselves as symptoms of a yet to be discovered diseases that could be proven pathologically. My point was that this could be the case but there is no conclusive evidence as of yet; it would be honest to talk about, treat, or consider them in this way.
  11. That indicate what? These aren't diseases. That would indicate a tendency towards these feelings or behaviors?
  12. Biomarkers that indicate what?
  13. Alright, brief synopsis of the topics coming through. I'll try to run through these as unopinionated as possible in this post, but it may be difficult as stating the existence of many of these topics is opinionated in itself. I will deliver further into how I think and feel about these topics later, but wanted to put some more material out for you guys to think about and discuss. I guess I'll just go from the top here, so please excuse me if it comes out a bit disjointed. I'm only doing a few for now as I just returned from vacay and I'm dead tired and have brain fog. I'll be updating through the week as I have time and energy. Error and harm of the medicalization of psychiatry Medicalization of psychiatry refers to the fundamental difference between traditional medicine and psychiatry and the attempt to apply traditional medical structure to the field. In traditional medicine, illness will generally refer to a disease, malfunction, deformity, etc. that can be identified by a pathologist. These illnesses will manifest with physical evidence in tissue such as the presence of a virus, measurable evidence of a deformity, something that exists in a very real sense and hence can be observed objectively and experimented or cured measurably. In psychiatry, an illness will rather be classified in different ways such as a collection of symptoms or by a response to drugs. For all intents and purposes, these illnesses are generally collections of behavior, patterns of thinking, emotions. Any of these illnesses that can be measured pathologically, even if they may manifest symptoms in behavior are not mental illnesses; these are brain diseases, covered by the field of neurology, such as neurosyphilis. Using this traditional was of classifying or referring to things as mental illnesses may have damaging effects on the way these "illnesses" are considered by professionals, patients, and the public, as well as how treatment is approached. Crisis of meaning (and death of God) In modern times, it seems increasingly difficult for people to find meaning in their lives which may be the cause of increasing feelings of anxiety, depression, and nihilism. Much of this can likely be attributed to the structure of our societies; it's difficult for people to have a great deal of agency over their work in corporate and other jobs, in their communities with the top down structure of government, in their families with the pressure of schools, media, society. In Nietzsche's works such as 'God is Dead', he predicts that the Enlightenment and man's increasing focus on rationalism has made and will make a belief in religion increasingly difficult. He considers this a tragedy as it will drain the source of meaning from many and will lead to a reduction in commitment to values.
  14. As a fellow manager and 60-hour-a-weeker I know the feeling of being on the grind 24/7. I find what really helps is sitting down occasionally to play something with friends, just passing around a controller for a single player or co-op game and hanging out. I guess I enjoy the company and fuckery more than the games themselves, but it is something that really helps me decompress anyways.
  15. Made this post in this format for two reasons primarily. Firstly, I was waiting for my issues to be resolved before starting the thread, seeing as they are I felt comfortable launching it lol. I'm on vacation at the moment so I figured an introduction would suffice. Secondly, seeing how many people were chomping at the bit in discord to get involved, I figured it'd be warranted to introduce it this way so those that want to get involved are able to read up on what they want and do some thinking. Those prone to reactionary responses will also have some time to cool off before things get going. The OP will mostly be an introduction and summary of the individual topics, so as stated, anyone who thinks they know what's going on is able to weigh in, but I understand not wanting to be dog piled as the first or waiting for another post to jump off of. Also fuck you, the college classes where you just have to respond to a debate for a grade are goated.
  16. *Disclaimer* This isn't medical advice, this thread is for philosophical discussion and entertainment ONLY. Trust your doctor, or don't; whatever you do, don't read some shit on a gaming forum and decide to fuck your life up. Hello Gamers! This thread has been a long time coming and it's finally here, soon. In less than a weeks time I will be making a post critical of modern psychiatry among other topics. I wanted to give you guys some time to read up, think and share some initial thoughts if you're so inclined. I'll leave some topics and recommend reading for those interested, but remember to keep discussions civil and refrain from telling other individuals what they specifically should and shouldn't be doing. Topics (non-exhaustive and in no particular order): Error and harm of the medicalization of psychiatry Crisis of meaning (and death of God) Modernity vs Primitivism/Tribalism Rationality vs Spirituality Over-medication Medicine as an arm of the state Modern nutrition, indoor, and sedentary lifestyles Normalization of suffering Right to refuse/coercion/consent Origins and history of psychiatry Optional Required Reading: Thomas Szasz Michel Foucault Erich Fromm Victor Frankl Jean-Paul Sartre Søren Kierkegaard Albert Camus The span of topics is obviously pretty broad so you're more than welcome to weigh in on topics you see as sufficiently related that weren't specifically listed. Thanks in advance to everyone that chooses to participate civilly or just wants to follow along. Stay tuned.
  17. Bots

I think some kind of warmup mode for servers with 1-2 players could be swag, for JB and TTT specifically. Allow 3rd person to see your cosmetics, make sure all doors are open, maybe add some mini game modes like LR games or FFA with bots
  18. Right, but it seemed he insisted on going anyways.
  19. Why wasn't the president allowed to go to the capitol?
  20. Why lol, you been doing fine for years just jerk it That is the cool thing about wealth, is has a feature of distancing foolish and immoral behavior from it's consequences, but I think that's a topic for a different thread.
  21. Ethically, I think the life should be protected as any other so no, but in our current state we do have systems in place for society to take care of the child. Ideally, I think the responsibility should be on the parents - permitting the graceful adoption by someone willing, but these potential parents should act responsibly if they don't want to face the consequences for their actions. Yeah this is ends over means thing and I think you missed the flow of the discussion on it.
  22. I do not work for a corporation, but good guess.
  23. Nobody having the responsibility to care for the children. I don't want to pay or care for someone else's kids, and I think most other people don't either. If it's not your responsibility, I sure as hell shouldn't be involved in paying for raising it.
  24. Yeah that's sort of how the world has functioned most of history. I think things would pan out better than the alternative.
