I took some more advice from that steam webpage and again the errors seem to have subsided for now. If I get this error again , I'll be pissed , but I won't bump this thread anymore.

Wow. 4 days until the next error. This error doesn't appear to have any solution , every DAMN video driver has been updated. I've done everything , reinstalled this game , and it's still crashing.

I joined that vent a few times a few weeks ago but then LitKey was like "Let me help you set up your mic or something" and I got kicked either because I was booted off vent or off internet...

Yeah , but there are still programs that I use on XP that are incompatible with Vista. I use a bunch of audio recording software to record to mp3 various songs and play-by-play on the internet. Most of those programs are not compatible with Vista. Other than that Vista seems to be ok. Today I brought back the Windows Sidebar with all those wacky gadgets. It's pretty nice. :001_unsure:

Don't know...takes pretty long to re-download CSS. I'll probably try to finish the download by Monday and see if it works.

Installed it yet got the same error again , and the system reboot. It seems to happen on Mesa a lot, which is a shame because that's a good map. Edit : Here are possible fixes for the error https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5204-UOSN-9830 One of those suggested solutions is to uninstall and reinstall css. I'm doing that now

Isn't 10 only available for Vista? The computer with CSS has XP operating system. Regardless I found some updates there , SDK or something. Hopefully these stupid errors will stop.

Mostly sports talk radio from Milwaukee and Calgary , Alberta , which is why I have lowered the receiving volume of the mics so I don't hear any of you in-game. That way I can hear my talk radio uninterrupted :thumbup1: When I'm not listening to talk radio I usually listen to a lot of old crap from the 80's , 70's , 60's , etc. Today's music is pretty bad. Also like listening to classical music and movie music , which I use a lot in my youtube films.

These errors continue even with updated drivers , which is quite odd. How would one reinstall directx drivers?

Other than aforementioned memory issues , there are also some weird things going on with Vista. I set all folders to have the same look , next day the mp3 folder is set to its own individual folder style with that stupid star rating system , and then some random folder will feel like being organized into a group system and then I have to ungroup everything and go back to folder options and force every folder to look the same again , and then the cycle continues :thumbdown:

The laptop was purchased last year from Circuit city...around 500 for that. 512 MB RAM and Vista , the people there even said I should add more RAM but I haven't gotten around to it. The funny thing is you could get a laptop for the same price today that has 2 gig ram. And yeah , with 512 MB ram pretty much any game is unplayable on this pos laptop. At least with XP games ran pretty well with the same amount of memory.

Still don't have IV but I've seen the tracks and other than the jazz radio network and the talk radio network the music stinks. It stank in GTA SA too , I just set the radio to the mp3 station whenever I play. Classical music > all radio networks. I was never a big fan of planes in SA , they were hard to control on PC. So does anyone play this game online , everyone on xfire that I've asked hasn't tried it online , and they've all beaten the game.

The funny thing is updates are available for that video card , however it never installs properly. I need to get an actual video card instead of shared memory. The error seems to have disappeared for now. I googled the error and set CSS to -directx 80 when it launches , and there have been no errors so far.
