1. Nobody's updated on their Movember yet? Weak...
2. The problem with Plex, is that the hard drive is mostly used for media, however I dont want to download plex apps on everything. Also, I might download some shitty country music for my older roommate who's not very tech literate. I dont want him to have to download a plex app just to access the music. I just want him to be able to connect to the network storage, and grab the music. So it is functioning as more than just media, otherwise plex does look like it could be what I'm looking for. I will keep it in mind if I decide to switch what I'm doing and go down that route instead. Thanks!
3. Tentatively my plan is to dedicate a flash stick for downloading movies to on my rPi. Download to flash stick, then write a script to split the file using... well.... the split command. Move the file pieces over to the network storage, then using cat to piece it back together. Am eager to know if anyone has any better ideas, but this seems like it would be a viable workaround. Albeit somewhat slower, since I have to download it locally, then split it, then still copy it over to network storage before piecing it back together, but I don't really care about time. Just as long as it's reliable. edit: er. skip cat, no need/defeats the purpose/impossible. Just rename appropriately and allow kodi to read the multi part file.
4. This is geared pretty much exclusively to people even more tech savvy than myself. So right now I have an amazon firetv hooked up to my TV, which has Kodi on it. I sometimes use Kodi for streaming online, sometimes use it for playing from my video library (which is in my network storage). So the firetv is linux based, I have a macbook air, and I have a windows laptop. So I want a file system that is cross compatible with all 3. I purchased a Raspberry Pi, and I plan on setting it up to be a dedicated torrenting box (obviously only for torrenting files of shows/movies that I already own legally). The Pi will be linux also. The problem is, a lot of movies are larger than 4GB, which means, fat32 (the only filesystem that is supported on all three operating systems that I'm aware of - CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG!) kind of shits the bed. I know you can download ext3 drivers for windows, and probably mac, but I'd realllllyyyyy rather not download third party drivers on any device that ever needs to read from this hard drive. So here's what I need: A filesystem that dd-wrt can support for network storage natively compatible with linux/osx/windows, or show me to a kernel module that I can manually load for dd-wrt to be able to use. I don't even really care about performance, just compatibility. OR: So it is my understanding that Kodi can read split files. Is there a way to automatically split torrent files if they are larger than 4gb into pieces? My current torrent program is Deluge, and ideally I'd like to stick with it for my Pi, but if another torrent program can do what I want, I'm open to suggestions. If Deluge can't automatically split my files (through plugins or some magical config-I'm not aware of it being able to), is there an automatic file splitting program that will monitor a folder and split the files? Maybe my best bet is just to format it ext3, and only ever access it from my rPi/FireTV I guess? Was really hoping for something better.
5. Are you looking at his current build, or the parts he's replacing? When you say "the one that comes with the pc" I assume you bought the machine stock, and didn't build it yourself, in which case yes the PSU will do. If you start upgrading components you'll have to start considering how much power they draw and if you need to upgrade.
6. I suppose I usually have a beard, and to be honest I actually trimmed it probably a week and a half ago. But trimming it is better than not growing one at all like some of these pussies.
7. Got a linksys e2500 router. Not sure if it was a black friday sale or not though, online it said 49.99, ($10 off), so I reserved it in store. When I got there though, the e1200 was 49.99, and the e2500 was 99.99. (Not even 59.99 which the site said was the sale). Sure enough though, got a great router for $50. Flashed dd-wrt on there, configured OpenVPN, I now have it routing IP's 192.168.1.4 - 192.168.1.64 through my VPN in the states, and DHCP starts assigning at 65. So I can configure which devices go through the VPN, but by default nothing does. I'll be routing my amazon Fire TV through the VPN so I can get american netflix, and will be encrypting my xbmc that I plan on putting on there. Was a pretty good weekend.
8. I have PIA. It's very good and insanely cheap if you buy a year all at once. For some reason, (no idea why), it appears as though PIA is not (at least on the surface) compatible with Amazon FireTV VPN? Other than that, yeah I would definitely recommend it. Especially since I think you have the technical abilities to make it by without all of the bells and whistles like a mobile app with 1 button. You actually have to configure it, but it's insanely easy anyways.
9. I screwed up and stalled (briefly) a couple times. I believe the highest I got a couple years back was 136. If I recall correctly, Eldest, myself, and Spiral are the 3 fastest typers (that I'm aware of). I think Spiral is faster than me though. And he toggles capslock instead of shift lol....
10. Here's my advice, afterwards will be optional advice on highschool vs university. I'll also assume you're in highschool and don't have control over where you live. If you're an adult and moved there of your own accord, and can't figure out how to remedy the situation, we have bigger problems to worry about than just giving you advice. Finish up highschool wherever you currently are. Apply to university back where you're from (because it sounds like that is the school you want to attend), then move back there to attend university. I moved away in grade 12. I wasn't thrilled, but I made the most of it and just enjoyed my time and made new friends. But I still wanted to graduate with my friends back home, so I ended up coming back here for the second semester in grade 12, and now I attend University here also. (I'm leaving out some details but that's the just of the story). ---------------------------------------- I disagree with them, highschool is easy as FUCK. If you aren't liking highschool, I personally would not recommend going to university or college, fair enough if the reason you aren't liking highschool is bullying, nobody gives a fuck about you in University, so you don't really have to worry much about that. High school is the same as university, except in high-school there's no stress and almost a non-existent amount of work. And you aren't paying out the ass for attending school. That being said, I completely agree with them in the sense that once you go to university, you choose which classes you take, however unless University is different wherever you live than it is in Canada, you still have a certain number of credits you need total. This means that yeah, you're majoring in X, but you still need like 60 credit units from other ass-random courses that you don't care about or like. Welcome to Psychology, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Anthropology, Stats, Math, Econ, English, Commerce etc. And certainly there's a number of courses even in your major you won't like. Now University definitely isn't all that bad, in fact University is pretty awesome. You get freedom (assuming you don't live with your parents, I had to move to attend Uni about 2 hours away so I don't have to see my parents every day, and I can do what I want whenever I want). But you also get a lot of responsibility. If you spend too much of your time on "freedom" and not enough studying and doing homework, you'll just start failing classes. And it's no longer "l0l failed a class", it's FUCK, I just wasted 4 months and a shit ton of money on this bullshit class I didn't even want to take (but had to) and now I failed it and have to re-take it, (or drop out). This isn't to discourage you from going to Uni or College. While working in the summer I look forward to going back to school (though during the school year I look forward to going back to work), however if you can't buckle down in high school, then you are in for a shotgun blast to the nuts in university. High school was a do nothing-get 80s-90s. University is a do-way-more, get 70s-80s. (My personal experience, results may vary. Some people I know still get mid-high 90s, but they also devote ~10+ hours every single day of the week, all semester long to ensuring they know all of the material). This is merely preparation for the fact that high-school may not be the most enjoyable period of your life (depending on your situation) but it is by far the easiest part of your adult(ish) life. Good luck, back to studying for Linear Algrebra final.... And I hate linear algebra..
11. Ugh down the road I'm going to build a PC.. This would definitely help but I don't know when. And if I didn't get around to it quick enough I'd feel like I scammed the competition. I'll refrain and wish all the other contestants gl.
12. But.... Sweden has better death metal... (Melodic Death Metal). Ie: See my signature.
13. That is, if you had to leave your home country (so don't say your home country), and you had to move there for the rest of your life, which country would it be? Mine would likely be a norther european country: Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, that or Switzerland would be my top candidates. Probably Sweden or Switzerland would be my top two. It is also worth mentioning that this is apart from visiting. There are many places I would be much more inclined to visit than these, but if I had to live somewhere (Ie. not where I currently live) these seem like the most enjoyable places. Also nobody cares if you disagree about where they want to live, so don't start arguments because someone might actually want to live in Belgium or the United States.
14. Thanks :) and close enough heh in fact, my time it would have still been my birthday.

15. I know right? Lol. Getting toooooooooo old.

16. Update: My friend won, and is on the VIP list for the concert. Thank you very much for your guys' help.
17. Will do, and literally all you have to do is click the link, you don't have to go through and pretend like you're going to buy tickets, just click the link is all lol. Thanks though.
18. http://jamplify.com/mBlIiI All you have to do is click, you don't have to register or do anything else, just click and he might meet his favourite band (Trivium) in Montreal. At the time of posting he's at 35 (rank 3) and rank 1 is 47 (but I don't think has gone up in a few days) so your clicks actually count. Thanks.
19. UEFI

So my laptop randomly would not turn on this morning. I think somehow, overnight, my guess is magic, the bootloader got corrupted? I honestly have no clue as I wasn't touching anything with partitions, or my hard drive or anything. I played some league of legends, used the internet, went to bed, woke up, won't turn on. So I want to get a repair disc (ie bootable usb) to repair my windows 8 startup. But I can't boot a regular windows 8 iso because my laptop isn't bios, it's uefi. I have a guide on how to create a bootable uefi usb (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html), but I need an EFI bootable iso in order to do it, and I have NO idea where to find an EFI Windows 8 iso. Been googling for a few hours now on my friends laptop, but I can't find one.. I'm going to continue googling after I take a nap, but has anyone had this happen before? Or does anyone know much about uefi and how to get a repair disc to boot with uefi? edit: So the fact it's uefi shouldn't affect whether or not it will boot (means it wasnt booting on my laptop for a different reason (i'm not sure)). But I got windows 8 on a usb and my laptop will boot from it. I also believe my main hard drive is okay. Which means I just need to fix my gpt on my ssd. (I think). Will keep this updated on my progress, if anyone has anything to add feel free to do so, but I'm going to sleep soon. Idk what I did, but it seems to be working lol. I installed just a fresh copy of win 8 onto my ssd. Then when it booted up, it booted into a fresh install of win 8 (makes sense) then, when I booted up a second time, it just started booting into my old version of windows, so I think I'm just not going to touch anything and hope it keeps working.
20. Banana Joe summed it up perfectly. We were running one once, and then a css update broke literally everything. Then we tried it again later on, but it was still incredibly broken.
21. New laptop

I have Lenovo Y500. Great laptop HOWEVER: The wireless card is shit. I disabled 802.11n mode in the adapter settings and it seems to have helped, but I still lag sometimes. I sent my laptop in because I thought I had a faulty one, but the second one I received still had the same issues (random HUGE spikes in ping). Aside from that I have no complaints about this laptop really. Good battery life, looks really good, great specs for the cost. I was considering buying a replacement wireless card, (and at some point I still might) but installing it yourself means you aren't covered by warranty if you fuck it up. But disabling 802.11n mode has done enough good for me that I don't really deem it necessary, but it's still not perfect. e: I don't have sli version so I can't comment on that.
22. Okay the first person suggested using a condom, pretty funny. But do the next 11 people really have to repeat the exact same thing as if it's a brand new suggestion?
23. Lol our safety slogan is : "There is no job so important that you can't take the time to do it safely." And another one they were pushing for was "If you see something, say something." as in if you see someone doing something unsafe, or improper, say something.
24. One on the left looks by far the best imo. I just wouldn't make the colours too prominent. Also for the speak no evil one, the hands don't seem to really cover the mouth properly. Maybe use that image but just use one hand to cover the mouth (I like how that looks).
