  1. Release draft positions. 3 days till draft and need 1
  2. Feels weird voting for @Gentoo without a 'should we perm' right next to his name
  3. it be like that sometimes bud. Watch im bout to catch 5 votes in my round after 46 in the first.
  4. that's a hot take

  5. There's always plenty to do in these ranks its all about the personnelle you have in them. It's a difference between "I'm fine where im at and will do the bare minimum to maintain my rank" and "I actually care about doing more for this community let me make 'xyz' discussion thread or experiment with 'xyz' plugin" Just because historically the majority of the members in these ranks haven't given a fuck doesn't mean there's something inherently wrong with the ranks. I think the pressure should be on the BD/IA team to determine and remove members at these ranks who haven't attempted to do anything other than the bare minimum over lets say a 3-5 month period. As an example: I'm pretty sure you remember the situations that led to moving CA to a non-primary rank after the rank shift. If you have a group of people who are not performing the 'basic' functions of a rank (discussion) the blame should not fall to the rank but instead to the group of people that you have within that rank. You can see this in action with our decision to make CA/SR necessary for AT after a month or two of having CA be extra useless.
  6. driving discussion through suggestions has always been a core part of this rank and the housekeeping duties will prepare them to use higher admin menus. in addition to this a shift in primary focus could provide more opportunities to work closer with the IA team in order to learn more about how things are done within this community. i think it would be valuable to have a medium sized pool of applicants in this rank just to keep ideas coming in. obviously a quota wouldnt be the solution here but you can tell when someone cares and is able to make consistently decent suggestions. Overall I think there's a case to be made for expanding the rank structure to include a mid tier server focused admin.
  7. Get a bike. 9k can get you a lot these days.
  8. A huge part of bringing the Server Representative around to replace the way CA was working before was to give the SR more access and environments where they could work with their AT's and learn their process for everything related to server management. Relaxing this rank back into its traditional role was not ideal in my opinion and I kind of regret not doing more to try and push that particular culture for those two particular ranks. I think it's paramount that we have active mid level admins who know their shit when it comes to what they're supposed to do as an admin for their servers, are active enough to understand the concerns of the regular population to relay that information to the AT's so that they can assess the feedback and proceed from there, and are willing to learn more of the 'technical' side of game server management in order to continue to provide a consistent or improving product. Having a bunch of forum fairies is great but the servers are what drives any chance to capture new audience members and for those to run smoothly I believe a mid level server focused role is needed. I think that it would be great to explore this option in detail and could work by maybe giving read only access to the ftp site and possibly access to restart servers. Obviously that would be a fair amount of trust to extend to someone but I think in general you can usually tell who your potential candidates for a rank are after the A -> SA transition period which is a decent enough evaluation period.
  9. Wow even NASA is data mining now... Hope the aliens send me a sick email
  10. So many great people in one vote. I love all of you except @Prez
  11. only because he wont apply for the modding team gratz
  12. where
  13. that post just says not to spray down a stack of people to get 1 person with a gun. if they're picking up the primary (intentionally or not) they'd be KOS anyways. what's the point of having a rules thread if all the rules aren't there. I think it's pretty counterintuitive to update the rules in a one off thread and not include this in the rules or FAQ. no one trying to learn the server is going to search through the pile of shitposts in this section to find the one thread that some rule/guideline is listed in.
  14. not seeing that in the rules... wanna point out where that's at?
  15. Something I've tried to explain when this topic comes up from a former higher ups perspective is that voting with a "I don't know you" thanks for the free post kind of answer is literally going to get ignored. What's the point in posting on an application if you have nothing to say? I would say it also devalues that specific person's opinion in the future as well. Bottom line: If you don't have anything to add to the discussion on the player then don't post. I'm also cool with people who can't make up their mind using an abstain but if it's just "never see you on the x server, abstain" you literally just wasted however many bytes it took to transmit that post.
  16. I dont remember anything past nutterbutter guy so we're in the same boat @Prez
  17. How do I vote for no one but still let them know that I didn't vote for any of them on purpose???
  18. your inevitable excuse when you flame out in the first round. https://www.steam-gamers.net/forum/showthread.php?t=83095 link to last years finals thread for those new to the contest.
  19. Sounds like something that's already against the rules is being done here. Wonder if an admin or player complaint could resolve this
  20. band of brothers but in present day
