  1. That's your computer then. There's no difference between someone retrying and him leaving and someone else joining. As the other thread pointed out it's a harmless way of changing your nomination. Even I've done it on occasion do to accidentally voting for something abominable. As long as they aren't spamming it (effectively attempting to flood the server) it's all good.
  2. Honestly a $100 corsair is probably as much as any non-exotic computer will ever need on current hardware designs.
  3. 0_o I was expecting to have to beat you over the head with Jonnyguru but you've actually just said basically everything I do. It's a strange feeling reading about powersupplies and not wanting to bang my head on the desk. I still think the best example of why not to buy a cheap PSU is actually his review of an Allied branded PSU that literally blew up when it was stress tested though. Also did Antec switch back to Seasonic as their OEM or are they still selling noname power supplies and riding on their former reputation?
  4. A few wierd things can happen if you get people with odd combinations of postcount, join date, and application date. I leapfrogged almost straight to HG because I'd already been here for 2 years and had near the postcount requirement when I applied.
  5. In other words you want a gimmicky POS that claims to do things which are physically impossible and costs a lot more because of those gimmicks? If you want surround sound on a headset get some HD555's, a seperate microphone, and an X-fi. Use the HRTF to get true 360deg surround sound. Everything else is just marketspeak BS that's not even physically possible to do what they claim.
  6. Dual Monitors

Odd numbered horizontal monitors is better since you get a flat panel in front of you rather than the seam between two screens.
  7. Steam UI 2010

TNT's sig is fine. Regionals on the other hand...
  8. Dual Monitors

Buy a new graphics card and power supply. Sorry but really I've got nothing. At the end I was running in DirectX7 mode at 1024x768 with all settings at minimum and special custom models that were really bland and boxy to try and stay over 40fps.
  9. Dual Monitors

You've already got Ultramon so I can't think of anything else. I just use my second monitor for extra productivity personally. Even my 6600gt had no problems gaming on one screen with just windows and 2d stuff on the other.
  10. Fuck year, welcome to the bananas!
  11. First order of bidness is an SG Pimps and Sexy Bitches calendar to raise money. So far we got Vir, Haggard, and Spartan in Sub/Dom outfits...
  12. I was wondering why we had a new forum that nobody had made a "Item One: World Domination" post in yet. If I understand this correctly though basically CAs have an extra meeting and at both meetings we'll also go over whatever we think should be brought to the Board's attention and compile it in said Agenda forum?
  13. Internet

Actually set it to 100-100-300000 and then you'll never need to change it again since every server will recognize that and just do the best IT is able to without you needing to lower anything. As for your packet loss problems... you just need to switch to wired on your gaming computer. Packet loss is an ENORMOUS issue for gaming. In a video/voice call its annoying because you just lose the signal for a flash, but in Source it has far more profound consequences. See source uses delta compression. Each tick the server recalculates everything and sends to the users only what changed since the last tick rather than the full data. On your end your computer "guesses" what will happen next and fills in the gaps to make the game smooth, that's the interpolation. Lose too much data and that system breaks down and you need to get the FULL package from the server rather than just the changes, which takes exponentially more work. Get a shite wireless connection....
  14. I usually derp around after the end of the final round on the map (when we're all staring at the scoreboard) or during the change-warning of a successful rtv.
  15. G9 is shaped nothing like their classic gaming mice shape. G5 on the other hand is so good I've still got it on my desk for use in the backup machine.
  16. You want a computer fixed? Find the local nerd. Unless you live in a frat house there's probably someone near you, who may well be too young to buy videogames on his own, that knows more about computers and fixing them than you ever will. Find this person, talk to their parents if necessary, pay this person, watch this person work.
  17. Headset Mic

I'm dead tired so lets just do this numerically: 1. Just because they're good at a game doesnt mean they know ANYTHING about headphones. 2. Headphone quality is not subjective, it's objectively verifiable and scientifically measurable. 3. The reason so many "pros" use the same shit is because they're getting paid, or the hardware free. The first assumption you made is also a logical fallacy.
  18. Headset Mic

----- But seriously Steelseries is shit, and that's not an "in my opinion I hate them" shit but a "their scientifically measurable attributes are terrible" shit. Kinda like how there's a difference between saying a car is shit because you don't like it and a car is shit because it's a freakin yugo that gets 10 miles to the gallon and breaks down every 5 miles.
  19. We already have that, it's called being a BD.
  20. Headset Mic

Power supplies, brakes, immunizations, seatbelts, fire extinguishers and detectors and yeah my expensive headphones not only sound a lot better than yours but they'll last a damn sight longer too.
  21. Stella Awards

Water at that temperature can cause failure of the materials in the cup. Try boiling plastic a plastic lid sometime, see what happens.
  22. Same problem but ingame, with windows, game, and all mic boosts maxed out. Sometimes a microphone is just too damn quiet.
  23. malware

Use Spybot Search and Destroy's immunize feature and the teatimer, it helps.
  24. malware

I've seen a few variants of this, some not so bad and two that managed to screw up a hard drive so bad the comp wouldn't even recognize is as a formattable drive anymore. I'd say use the Power 5 on it: Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, AVG, Spybot, and Smitfraudfix. HijackThis and Combofix are... Powerful. They're quite capable of doing as much damage to your computer as any malware if you don't actually know for sure what it is you're doing with them.
  25. You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
