  1. Screw feeling wierd, I want my ears not to hurt when I wear headphones.

Mobos have onboard 7.1 surround nowadays anyway thanks to Realtek. You've got a good core Tox, hold off for a while and add peripherals over time since those can be moved from one computer to the next. I've used the same G15 since pretty much the thing came out, and I've had 3 logitech mice in my life as a gamer so far. If you can afford it start with a generic non-gaming keyboard you dont hate and get a logitech g5 (the blue one), it's a great mouse and I used it for years. I still have it for my backup computer. Then over time you can add in a quality headset like the AD700 or HD555, and then a soundcard like a good non-overdone X-Fi and after that a gaming keyboard.
  3. Are you benchmarking competitively or something? Or do you just want to have the biggest internet penis ever? I mean seriously man if you don't have a real reason for doing this just want to get rid of money send some of it to me and I'll be happy to oblige you.
  4. Not far south enough to be Little Cuba, not far north enough to be South Georgia. Who else we got in the Central Florida/Orlando area? I can't be the only SGer desensitized to grown men in costumes.
  5. An Extreme Edition USED to be the same processor but with an unlocked multiplier. In this case it's got 6 cores too. Which is going to do fuck all since while we have multicore support we dont have manycore support yet.

  7. Gaming Rig

Tried it, never worked, they always claimed I used a coupon.
  8. The plural of anecdote is not data, and both EvenBalance and United Admins used to deliberately keep up demand for their services the same way. Why do you think Cheating Death and Punkbuster are such jokes?
  9. KAC? Kigen's already-outdated anticheat? Except for covering exploitable vulnerabilities I don't trust third-party anticheats as far as I can throw them. I know for a fact the old ones were like punkbuster, corrupt and lived off of false-positives in order to keep demand going, and I doubt the new ones are much better. Call me when there's an open source project with a dedicated and active development team that DOESN'T claim to be better than VAC and DOES recognize and publish false positives. Security through obscurity is NOT security, and someone trying to sell you safety where only he can tell you if you're safe or not is an obvious scam.
  10. Gaming Rig

Most plugs and sockets are "keyed", meaning they're shaped in such a way you can't physically plug something in where it doesn't belong. There are a few exceptions, PCIE and the 4-pin CPU power plug used to be one of them but I don't think it is anymore, and there are probably others. In general though stuff is well labelled in most modern computers. Asus and Corsair especially are known for printing plain-english labels on as much of their stuff as possible.
  11. Case Problems.

"4pin" doesn't help us, that could mean anything from the CPU power plug to a fan plug. If your talking 4-pin CPU power make sure you didnt plug a 4-pin PCIE power connector in instead.
  12. Headsets

And that is why they're crap. I've been over this a billion times: Headphones cannot have surround sound because of simple issues with THE LAWS OF PHYSICS. Take some ipod earbuds and put them right next to your ears, where the speaker on headphones would be. Now move them back and forth a bit. Notice any significant difference? The answer is no, not really. You can tell a small difference because you know you're physically moving them yourself, but it's nothing like having speakers several feet away from you all around you. Headphones are either a single speaker right next to your ear, or multiple earbud sized speakers right next to your ear. Either way you're not getting surround sound, and the second method is going to give you the same quality of sound as you'd get from an earbud in a plastic frame. When buying headphones look for quality, not gimmicks. If you can't find Sennhesier 555's and the 595's are too expensive where you are start looking at Audio Technica AD700's, just whatever you do don't buy something USB* and don't buy something marketted for "gaming" or "surround" because it's going to be a gimmick laden POS. Go for something whose advertising base is accurate sound reproduction. *Headphones, like all speakers, play an analog signal. One way or another that signal's getting converted when it leaves your computer. Your soundcard can do it, or your headphones can do it. I'd let the soundcard do it since that's what it was built for.
  13. Monitor

Enjoy your laggy-pixel 60hz 2048x1152 with a tiny little color gamut, I'll be rocking my 85hz instant-response ~1500P resolution. LCDs are the reason we need to put up with 30fps caps on games optimized for resolutions half of what CRTs have been capable of for over a decade. But feel free to continue enjoying your "sharp" display that's actually muddied up with cleartype and other forms of blurring to get over the fact you can't display a non-square image cleanly like a CRT can. CRT's have always, and will always, be an inherently superior technology to LCD flatpanels. A CRT of the same diagonal as an LCD will have a higher resolution, it will have a larger color gamut, it will have superior brightness and contrast, and it will have a far better response time by virtue of being nearly instant.
  14. Monitor

I've been trying to convince people of that for a good decade Pepper, people just don't care about technological superiority when they can have ZOMGSHINY status symbol flatpanels that are easy to carry around.
  15. It's a new retail game from the original maker of CS that he says is going to be more like what he wants CS to be but cant change due to all the whiny AWPers and assholes.
  16. Monitor

WHY. What reason would a LOWER resolution with the same horizontal do you any good?
  17. Are we talking just senselessly trolling people or creatively abusing stupid people and rulebreakers?
  18. That's just it, you wont. A computer in your area will probably cost nothing like computers in England and DEFINITELY won't be comparable to our market.
  19. Monitor

    Again 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200.
  20. Then we have no clue what retail stores sell in europe, go to your version of Best Buy and start asking.
  21. What's your nvidia driver version, they pulled a recent update for being unstable.
  22. Monitor

No, it wouldn't. I ran 3520x1200 (two monitors) on an 8800GT and did fine. And that was wit 16xAA.
  23. You should be able to do all of this in the console.
  24. Monitor

Try 1280x1024 on your current monitor if you can do that. 1920x1080 is a lot wider but barely higher resolution at all. What you want is something that does 1920x1200. Same width but MUCH more vertical resolution than 1080P, you can watch a full 1080P movie on a 1920x1200 screen and still have room for subtitles that don't cover the action or editing tools or whathaveyou. You'll also get much better picture quality in games with the extra 200 lines. Something else to consider is panel type. There's a MASSIVE difference in quality between a TN panel and an S-PVA panel. Read about the different panel types Here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1039222 Also a parting note, measurements of response time and contrast are non-standardized. Every manufacturer can do whatever absurd testing conditions they want to get great numbers, especially on the BS "Dynamic" contrast.
