  1. As much as I like SG, my reaction to this as a TF2 player is basically "Fucks sake, ANOTHER 24/7 shitserver?". There is an enormous lack of full-rotation servers that don't have either instant or absurdly long respawns (7-13sec) or run such a small subset of maps they get boring fast and allow custom skins. Which, on that last note, if you guys need I've made whitelists that block texture based wallhacks while still allowing full custom skins on weapons (even if it's first-person only).
  2. I was going to say /v/'s face when he opened the door in the B vs V comic summed it up actually.

  3. Being an admin I think I now have an understanding of your signature on an entirely new level.

  4. More ram making a computer faster is like more gas in the tank making a car go faster. If it had that effect it's because it didn't have enough to function properly to begin with.
  5. Yep, its working.

  6. superslash@gmail.com, the servers still think of me as an Apprentice rather than an actual SA.

  7. Quick Q: Any word on when the new admins graduated from the [sG-A] program will all be added in? I figure ~20 days it's fair to ask >.>

  8. The iphone is a pretty impressive handheld computer, but even many iphonatics admit as a PHONE it's an utter failure. You can't just consider the features of a device, you need to also look at how well it performs it's intended function. So in terms of best phone I'd have to say the blackberry wins hands down. As phones their quality is good, as smartphones they beat the iphone pretty badly. Unlimited apps, unlimited expandable storage, no third party controlling your device, apps are often free and NOT restricted by blackberry unlike apple, and oh yeah it can copy and paste.
  9. Your girlfriend gives you a handjob every few weeks when you ride the bus down to where she lives. You could buy a car and get laid every other day. The handjob works fine, why bother?
  10. BFG changed their warranty policies so it's not a true lifetime anymore and they've got a harsher registration deadline than EVGA. That's why it dropped from the Big Three to the Big Two.
  11. Quality with computer parts is rarely directly connected to price, if anything some of the most respected and trustworthy parts are usually significantly less expensive than others. Corsair power supplies for example as basically tied for perfect ratings from everyone everywhere with PC Power and Cooling and a 750 watt psu (easily 150 watts over what any non-sli gaming comp will EVER use) is only $110. It's more knowing which names to buy than going by price. Since you're more intelligent than yeast and I haven't slept in too damn long thanks to finals week here's the sparknotes version, btw anandtech and tomshardware are good for benchmarks: Motherboards: Gigabyte or Asus Ram: Geil, mushkin, corsair, OCZ, gskill Psu: Corsair, PC Power and Cooling (they're both pretty cheap anyway so why go elsewhere yknow?) Graphics: XFX and EVGA the big two with lifetime warranties and 24/7 support plus overclocker friendly policies. GraphicsATI: ATI first party or Sapphire are good, otherwise look at the heatsink and warranty information. Soundcards: Some x-fi's are fakes without the real chip, check wikipedia for a list of the real hardware x-fi cards. Heatsinks: Noctuas are suprisingly good, Thermalright (especially the TRUE) is the next best bet. Anandtech ftw. Fans: Noctuas for dead silence at the cost of air, yate loons for a middleground, delta for "Screamers". Thermalpaste: Arctic silver, Ceramique, IC diamond, arctic cooling mx2 Bling: Heatsinks, fans, and lights/accessories are cheapest from SVC.com instead of newegg. CPU: Dependant on benchmarks and your budget. Cases: Antec's got some good ones, Cooler Master is kinda the de facto leader. Look for steel and 120mm fans. Peripherals: There's a reason the best warranty service is nicknamed a "Logitech lifetime warranty". Screens: I've pasted a link to the thread on different flatpanel panel tech a dozen times. IPS or MVA/PVA is better. Mousepads: Find an office depot and get a ~$10 "deskpad". Headphones: Audio Technica or Sennheiser, don't buy into the surround sound or "gaming" BS. trust science. Also it sounds ridiculous but if you get a less expensive case buy some fine grit sandpaper, cases without any rolled edges are like boxes full of razors.
  12. superslash@gmail.com They're really handing out invites like candy now aren't they... i think they're either going to circular file wave or open up registration soon. Thanks either way dude.
  13. So its not broken... but on the other hand its not doing what it's supposed to and nothing you've tried has fixed it? Reminds me of my psych professor: "Proof doesn't make you right!"
  14. When people say "disable a core" they usually mean hit ctrl+alt+del and stop a program from running on more than one core by going to the Affinity menu under rightclick on that program's process and unchecking everything after Core 0. Whoever told you to truly turn off the rest at the silicon... there's a good chance they were fkin with you. GJ breaking it though.
  15. I take it that means I passed, shibby >P

  16. Same problem, I swithc between pistols and the pump a LOT and I often wind up losing a vote to this. allowing !vote to change your vote within the timelimit would be nice.
  17. This. Culture dictates they act like they aren't but I guarantee you they're at least as fiendishly dirty minded as we are.
  18. Probably from hitting either a post count limit or time limit for it. What'd you do? Ontopic: Ram speed already has a negligible impact on performance if you're above a certain threshold, sure switching from an FSB system to a hypertransportalike will help with that a bit but still our biggest issues are at the moment with how fast we can move data around.
  19. The purpose being that I hardly ever have a need to really interact with my UI and thus the more minimalist it is the better, plus I've got a lot of the old stuff into muscle memory by now and just plain like it. If I like something else more I'll take the time to learn that, but it's what's UNDER the hood that should count with an OS. The "best" UI is always the one you're personally the most proficient with, very few UI design rules are true absolutes.
  20. K. I'll be trying to convince Alton Brown to autograph a titanium spork.

  21. Well SOME of us strip every OS down to such a minimalist UI that we hardly ever even USE the taskbar so this is helpful some of us...
  22. Woah, when'd he get banned?
  23. I've had problems with Man with the Plan before, he's an unapologetic glitcher and teamkiller and mocks SG-A's for being unable to ban him for it.

  24. We should all get together and start up on mahalo or something for non-SGers...
