Exactly? I know what auto tune does...but it matters why? I don't really care if they write their own songs or if they use auto tune or not...in the end if the final product sounds good then that's fine by me.
Auto tune is also used to add to effects even if it isn't really needed...sometimes it pays off but it can be way overused (e.g. Black Eyed Peas recently)
No one who is in the music industry has no talent. If that were true then they would be ordinary people like us. You can disagree if you like but that's the truth. He may have talent but for me you're overstating it......or at least I don't value his talent as highly as you do in the perspective of music as a whole.
Talent isn't some factual, universal understanding you know...so this "It's talent, period cuz I'm srs" is a bit arrogant....in the end I never said he doesn't have talent. What I've done is dispute that he has enough to live up to your claims.
I said this band (IMO) is almost identical to similar metal bands. That would from your perspective mean other talented, popular metal bands. Unless you yourself believe that similar metal bands to his are your average singer out of a hotel then you're taking me out of context.
I could be more specific but I really can't be bothered. I'm not saying all metal bands are the same....this band just seems to be very similar/indistinguishable from a lot of bands posted in this section.
You could train your ears to hear beauty in anything if you listen to it long enough....that's just coping with it. I could cope with metal music...but I very easily get either irritated by the noise or lost/bored because the lyrics are indistinguishable/weird/the music is like a loud drone and completely uncatchy/memorable. There are exceptions to this because metal is fairly big genre.....but generally (for me) those would be the more mainstream, lighter types of metal.....(if that).
In the end it's not about whether my ears are trained enough or not....listening to music isn't a science it's about taste. I don't like metal generally and I've explained it. Taking into account that the majority of people don't like metal it's not scandalous....and it's definitely not to do with a lack of training.
Metal isn't just noise and volume > quality...or at least that's what they intend.....but for me it doesn't work.

I know.....I know some people who I've more recently detached myself from (not just because they're metal fans...but they're weird...alcoholics...very annoying...especially when drunk...and too much weed...and sitting in fields on cold nights) and one was talking to me about grunting/growling/whatever and telling me that it was hard for him to conqueror because it's a skill. I don't doubt that.....but it's not a skill I value highly. I don't want to listen to it even if it's supposed to be impressive....in the end it's annoying.
Also he was into some stupid pig squealing shit. Most stupid thing I've ever heard.
Two examples below that are claimed to be some of the best musicians around today that so happens to play metal.
I agree that the musicians are talented but for me it's being used in a genre of music I generally just don't like. Because of that their talent (as good as it may be) does not appeal to me.
I can tell that my opinion may be ridiculed on here because generally this community (or at least the people who bother with this section) are either into metal or are Toxin/insert other cool kid. But in the end there's lots of music beyond metal.....looking at my playlist I like a very quite range of music......just generally nothing extreme.
