I'd rather steer clear of the technical terms as for me....it just becomes a load of nonsense. But....I'm content with being ignorant in that sense.......I'm happy to enjoy music and forget about understanding it (in the technical sense). Perhaps this is why what impresses metal fans does not impress me....as I don't think of music as a sport....where the best at an ability is hailed....with the music's catchyness/quality being at a detriment. To metal fans perhaps this isn't the perception, as the ability to do these certain things is what makes the music good.....but just not for me.

I'm casual. All that cool kid, mango, moose stuff is the less serious side of me having a laugh. It's all a pile of nonsense that people on here are not afraid to have fun being part of. However it does get ruined when people who's natural maturity is that level...as they take it too far. Then again, it's probably more because I can't be bothered to go than it being nerdy.

I'd say as a generalisation that I don't like metal. There's loads of different types (apparently) that someone who doesn't care to investigate will not know of but generally....whatever type...there's something I don't like. I'm sure my opinion will completely go against some others...... -Screaming vocalists (which completely ruin a song for me....and can only be passed off if in very small amounts.......but preferably none at all). Some of these artists actually have good singing voices....so it's disappointing for me that they go and waste it by screaming. Some examples......I like "Hearts burst into fire" by Bullet for my Valentine..because there isn't much screaming in it at all. However this is a rare song among many. -Instrumentals. I'm not against some instrumentals.....but extended (as in 45 seconds plus) is pushing it too far I think. These usually bore me out of listening to many rock songs. -Random noise. For me.....less is more. Bands like Dragonforce and many others seem like they have had 50 too many Red Bulls and have just spammed instruments and claimed that it's music. It's very rarely memorable....and hence boring. Many mainstream songs are popular because they are catchy. As I said before...this isn't what some want but I don't like songs that aren't memorable.....and those that make my ears hurt. -Have no clue what the hell is being said. Most mainstream songs allow you to actually sing along..but usually when I hear a metal song I have to read a lyrics sheet to find out what is being said. -Weird/disturbing lyrics. You know........the kind of "out there" stuff that I'm not really into at all. This is usually why I steer clear of metal and keep to indie/soft/pop rock etc.... At first I went along with this but......for me people who hate Justin Bieber seem to just be scared of liking music from someone like him. I'm not going to deny listening to his music and liking it, because it's easy to listen to and catchy. He has a good voice.....and stuff like sexuality, "manliness" etc...have nothing to do with the actual music. You say metal is for men....but if I was to do what you're doing and take opinions from people who lock themselves to one type of music (in this case pop/hip hop).....then you'd have people saying "metal is for freaks, weirdos" etc.....Is that what I believe? Not really, although seeing as how pop is what most people like.......if you veer greatly from it (i.e. metal) then you could be seen as an outcast. Before you tie me down to some stereotype, I'm very varied in what music I like so I wouldn't say I fit any category.

Maybe, maybe not. Even though it's right here in London I'm not really one for gamer events as it's always seemed a bit too nerdy..as well as being too lazy to bother going.

I wouldn't ever design a MMO. Why? Because if I could/wanted to design a game I'd want it to be fun. This is simply not possible with MMOs.

Yup........so looking at my OP my holiday plans have changed quite a bit Might do the cycling trip next year, but that's on hold for now. Instead I'm going to Tenerife starting today for 2 weeks....so I might come on once or twice but otherwise see you guys in 2 weeks
