  1. States who ban abortions are only banning abortions for those who can't afford it, the wealthy in said states will still have no problem seeking a safe abortion. There is no 'essential arguing' worth talking about when there is no societal mechanism in place to hold those with privilege, power, and/or wealth accountable when it comes to abortions. That is why the 'life begins at x' talking point is a strawman.
  2. Ideally, every child should be brought into this world under responsible and willing parents. Unfortunately, we do not live in this idealistic world. More specifically to the US, we don't even live in a country that even actively tries to live in such a world. If we did, we'd be addressing major socioeconomic issues such as poverty and homelessness. Instead, the wealthy will still have access to safe abortions while the poor and working class will be the ones most negatively impacted. If you want to take an ethical stance, fine, but the reality is that one class in this country is getting fucked once again while the other could care less since it has marginal impact on them. Also, who's going to hold the wealthy accountable from an ethical standpoint when they continue to get abortions?
  3. Ok, well good on you for being consistent with liberalism then. Still though, it would make more sense to not allow the outlaw of abortion then so that the child doesn't become a burden to society if the mother is and was unwilling to care for it, no?
  4. But do you have a problem paying for the yacht of the CEO of the company you work for, assuming you do sell your labor for a wage?
  5. What is that alternative?
  6. The Democrats could have codified Roe when they had the super majority under Obama for 2 years, yet they didn’t. They’d rather use abortion rights as a fundraising opportunity than deliver on their word to protect them. So who exactly do we vote for then? Do we really believe that state politicians are going to be any different in all 50 states?
  7. Imagine thinking a country with a school mass shootings problem, which drags its feet to even marginally address the issue, and can’t keep baby formula on the shelves has the moral high-ground to make such an argument in the first place.
  8. Mark my words, same-sex marriage protection will be next.
  9. My thought was but of course I'm not going to endorse using them, I just want the symbolism to make them uncomfortable.
  10. My brother in christ, I'm only one person against the American gun lobby. Collective efforts to make those who are comfortable in their seats of power uncomfortable is the only way I see any positive, material change moving forward.
  11. We can organize, what we can't do anymore is just sit on the sidelines and 'hopes and prayers' for better results--that is insanity. It's not like measures are actually being partaken to curb these results--do SOMETHING. A simple solution, for example in the scenarios of both the Buffalo and Uvalde shootings, would be to raise the legal age of purchasing a firearm from 18 to 25. Reason being, studies show the frontal lobe of your brain is still developing well into your 20s. Again, even if we don't do that, at least do SOMETHING.
  12. What's deeply unsettling in all of this is that this is not the first time that US mass shootings and school shootings have been brought up in discussion in this community, just like it's far from the first time it's been debated in mainstream US culture. Yet, every time it's always the same predictable shit: tragedy, outrage, discourse, gridlock, forget, move on, tragedy again, rinse repeat. It's fucking sickening, and all it takes is 2 weeks before the latest high-profile school shooting is already out of the media feed (referring to Uvalde) despite this being an incredibly unique US problem. And in this seemingly endless loop of violence in US schools, we still to this day, stand complicit. A country like France would have burned shit to the ground if a Uvalde took place in their country. Yet the US just shrugs its fucking shoulders, just like it has done time and time again after countless mass shootings and school shootings, and nothing happens. What a fucking joke.
  13. Yup, I completely misread mass shootings as school shootings lol. Based.
  14. I can find the source and edit this post later since I’m currently on my phone at my job, but it was a Wikipedia page that listed every single school shooting in the US this year, where it was, how many died, etc. and I think the total number came out to like 202 or something like that.
  15. I think this pattern is being influenced by a number of factors in the US, including cultural apathy, alienation, and material conditions, all which have been getting worse over the past 20 years, all which the pandemic has also helped accelerate. I agree with you, background checks and psychological evaluations should be the minimum of what needs to be done. It’s like dragging feet to even get that sort of progress. Responsible gun ownership should be a common sense measure to strive for.
  16. 200+ school shootings this year alone in the US, highest in the world. The 2nd highest country is Mexico with around 8. The complete inaction to make progress on this damning statistic is inhumane.
  17. Why are you asking me this when you found the courage to look it up for yourself? Like, the definition is literally right in front of you and yet you still try to argue that someone who hates all Jews is technically not a Nazi. It's even weirder to see you making this amount of effort to go out of your way to defend Nazism.
  18. I mean, literally saying all Jews worldwide should die makes you a Nazi by definition. How is that even remotely short-sighted? Ok? So if I were to consider myself a communist, I should hate Nazis even more than I already do. Got it. No, I think hating communism does make you, at the very least, a Nazi sympathizer. I'd argue that 99% of the US has absolutely no clue what communism is and has never read more than a few pages of literature from Karl Marx. Yeah fuck no that is absolute bullshit from Putin, he can go rot in hell. Bro, you're literally a fucking Nazi if you hate Jewish people on a global scale. You literally pointed it out by saying 'anti-Semitism is also part of nazism by definition'. Please, rationalize Nazism and then turn around and call me the crazy one.
  19. Then you clearly don't know the difference between being Jewish and being an Israelite committing atrocities towards the Palestinian people. In the irrational case that Palestinians do feel that all Jews worldwide should be exterminated, then yes that is a form of Nazism by definition.
  20. Do I live in an apartheid state?
  21. Yes, because hating Nazis and fascists in part because they already want me dead on the basis of me being Jewish makes me a bad person. I'm sorry that you feel that way.

  23. Bad: Putin, Ukrainian Nazis, US for funding said Nazis, Russian Nazis Losers in all of this: Ukraine and the poor/working class people of both Russia and Ukraine
  24. Jewish

Man, our educational systems really are going to shit.
