  1. Not sure if procrastination necessarily counts as a habit, but it's gotten bad for me. I know what I have to do, I tell myself what I have to do and how easy it is, and I just don't end up doing it. I've been doing a lot of reading on ways to avoid it and obviously everyone procrastinates, but it's become super annoying in regards to my schoolwork, hobbies, and other responsibilities. I literally get annoyed at myself for procrastinating, continue to procrastinate, and then get more annoyed at myself.
  2. 10/2/22 - Removed AFK Manager As we try to retain player population, we want to avoid a situation where someone is sitting AFK at the start of the round, gets moved, then immediately comes back and has to sit out the round. The only downside is the ability to credit or raffle point farm however we'd much rather opt for the benefit of not losing people because of how fast AFK manager tends to people. We could increase the timer but we're going to just remove it altogether for the time being and see how it goes. (if it's something like 60 seconds, the Prisoner or Guard will probably just be dead by then anyway) This does not mean credit farming is allowed - however if you'd like to AFK in spectator to help boost the server's numbers you're more than welcome. We'd appreciate it. As of right now we have not decided to change any rules regarding AFK freezing, so that's still not allowed. - Added two maps temporarily for Halloween: ba_jail_electric_razor_go_sghalloween_v2 jb_summer_jail_hdr_halloween_sg - Added two maps to rotation: jb_shapeshifter ba_jail_blackops_v4 Have to give a big shoutout to @Gentoo - he took the previous version (ba_jail_blackops_v3) and edited it so that there is now a cell button and no more roof on the inside of the prison (looks much better that way), which means we won't have complaints about Guards not being able to open cells manually.
  3. Actually I haven't taken 201 yet so things really aren't looking too good for us.
  4. I'll show you all what a real tyrant looks like.
  5. The map never performed too badly, and I was personally a pretty big fan. We'll try it out and see how it goes. Added.
  6. Added, let's see how it does this time around. Thanks for the suggestion.
  7. Old request, but for the record, this is already on the server. Thanks for the suggestion.
  8. 9/29/22 - CAs now have access to /respawn This is a small quality of life change. This command has pretty much always been reserved for AOs / server managers but we're gonna drop it down a level. The command is useful for when someone dies randomly or by some stupid mistake and we don't want to have them waiting an entire round. It's obviously not meant to be used as a fun command as respawning someone can cause a lot of damage to a round, but in cases of small populations it can be useful to avoid players leaving. - Rule change - "Deathgames can only be started 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the round." has been changed to "Deathgames can only be started at the 3 minute mark." This means deathgames can start an entire 1 minute and 30 seconds sooner and will hopefully serve to open up the possibilities for what CTs can do a little more and improve quality of rounds. Also given the change from 5 minute rounds to 4 minute rounds, not being able to utilize deathgames until 1 minute and 30 seconds are left in the round is pretty pointless. Let us know what you think of this change and how it plays out on the server. - Dodgeball LR removed We feel as though the dodgeball LR is 1) unpopular and underused and 2) counterintuitive to the purpose of LRs. Last Requests and the plugin itself are meant to speed up and avoid the long, drawn out endings to rounds when there's a small amount of Prisoners that don't want to rebel. On the off chance that Dodgeball is picked as an LR, it tends to last an extremely long time, oftentimes until the end of the round. This goes against the purpose of LRs. If you guys were big fans of this LR, let us know and we'll consider adding it back, but our initial thought is that it won't be missed.
  9. 9/18/22 - Roll the Dice plugin can now be enabled manually by CA+ Similar to what we did for our Protect the President plugin, thanks to @BoTo, CA+ can enable Roll the Dice at will and run the event whenever they see fit. They've been informed to, as usual, gauge interest, listen to the players online, etc. before enabling / keeping it enabled. We think this is another great change to keep things interesting and fresh on the server when things get stale. - Notification for plugins being enabled goes to all players Again, thanks to @BoTo and actually suggested by him, when Protect the President or Roll the Dice are enabled the notification will go to all players online as opposed to just the client enabling it. Just a small quality of life thing. Now we have a few rule changes we're gonna introduce. I can't say for exactly how long these things have been in play, but they weren't a thing during my time here. I also can't say for sure that they'll necessarily be positive, but I have no doubt this will quickly become apparent and come to the managers' attention if it's negatively impacting gameplay. We'll assess on the fly and change things if need be. From the FAQ: New Answer: Freedays are never required, even if it's the first day or if the ratio is bad. From the FAQ: New Answer: Yes. Being told to shift walk implies walking, not jumping or crouching. From the FAQ: New Question: Are Guards allowed to be strict? New Answer: While it's discouraged to be strict, Guards are allowed to be as strict as they want. In fact, sometimes it's necessary. However, we encourage Guards to be fun and creative with their orders. From the Rules: Removed completely. So, what all of this means for Guards moving forward: - They can order prisoners to shift walk without specifying "no jumping". - They can order prisoners to crouch walk to any given location. - They can keep the prisoners frozen for as long as need be. This is how it was for years, so I can't really imagine any situation where you can necessarily "abuse" any of this. Rebelling on our server is and has historically been incredibly easy and stripping the Guards of these tools was a mistake in my opinion. The most likely scenario: Prisoners will continue to run through Guards despite these buffs. However, if this did make a significant dent in the incredible edge Prisoners have, I wouldn't be upset. Most Jailbreak servers are insanely CT sided as opposed to T sided like ours. But the reality is that it won't. Anything we can do to possibly encourage people to play Guard is worth it though.. stay tuned for another thing to remedy that.
  10. I still think about that last competitive match we played together a few days before you passed. I don't think I've laughed that hard since then. And I don't think anyone I've ever known has made me laugh that hard over and over again in every conversation I've had with them. I tell all my real life friends about how the funniest person I've ever known is a guy I met on a gaming community when I was 12, who made me laugh for years and years but also gave me copious amounts of advice. Always gonna remember you, can't possibly think of me 12 years old - 17 years old without doing so.

    Love you homie.

  11. I might respond more properly when I’m home, but your entire argument is based off the very bold assumption that the server will even get populated when we’ve done 1v1 for years and never seen any notable success from it from what I can remember. We’d also be assuming that yourself and the other people showing interest will have that interest and populate the server for anything longer than a week. I get your logic, might as well just have some players for a month. That feels like we’re giving up though. I’d rather find a project we can actually put effort into and potentially see real change because of.
  12. Absolutely and utterly useless, sorry to be harsh and straight forward.. but that's the truth. 1v1 has been a thing on and off at SG since at least 2016. Never at any point have I heard of a regular staying at the community because of 1v1. Even if you do manage to populate it, it'll do nothing for the actual community. It doesn't bring in regulars, it doesn't bring in new donors, it doesn't do anything. Free dedi space at this point should be used for an absolute hail mary wherever we see fit, but one that can actually have something good come of it. ZRiot is worth more of a shot than 1v1. Competitive style servers haven't and will never do anything for SG.. at our peak perhaps we could've put a foot in the ground of competitive servers.. a few 1v1s, a few Retakes, a few deathmatches, but now we can't and just putting one little server out there is absolutely pointless. I can't justify this in my head.
  13. 9/13/22 - Made !buddy command available to the public The !buddy command allows you to attach yourself to someone else and spawn with them in order to coordinate rebellions. We believe this is a fun new added aspect to the gameplay and we want the public to be able to use it. Especially considering the current lack of Elite Supporters, we think it's a waste to keep it restricted to that rank. The coming days will show us if this command causes any issues being open to the broader public. - The Prisoner Buy Menu is back! After much deliberation, we've decided to re-enable the Prisoner Buy Menu. Each prisoner starts off with 500 credits and thus, can only buy one item. Currently, here's what's available to you on the menu: - Armor Boost (+25 armor) - Flash Grenade - Glock-18 (with 3 bullets) - HE Grenade - Health Boost (more like a replenish.. +25 health whenever you need it) - Tactical Awareness Grenade We think this is a great new addition to the gameplay and can help to spice things up a bit more. We welcome feedback on how this affects gameplay and any other additions / changes you want to see to it. (There will probably be a thread on this specifically.) Huge thank you to @BoTofor the help with this edit. - Finished up removing chat advertisements and adding a few new ones We finished cleaning up the chat advertisements to reduce clutter and make them more Jailbreak oriented. I've added a couple new advertisements, one regarding the opportunity to join our Staff Discord to talk about Jailbreak with us and one encouraging map suggestions. (per @Starlegendgod's suggestions) We'd also love to hear more suggestions on what chat advertisements you guys think would be useful. - Protect the President plugin can now be enabled by CA+ at any time For those of you who don't know, Protect the President used to be a very popular event on Jailbreak. The plugin randomly selects a CT to have boosted health and an indicator that they're the President, and if the Prisoners manage to kill the President, Guards automatically lose. It's a very fun way to change up the gameplay whenever things get stale. Previously, a server manager had to manually enable the plugin whenever an event was to be ran. However, thanks to @BoTo, CA+ can enable the plugin on the fly using /sgjb_vip_enable! The plugin will automatically disable after map switch in case they forget to turn it off, but it can be disabled using the exact same command over again. CAs will be encouraged to run this event (albeit, sparingly) whenever they see fit to keep things interesting. More exciting changes to come soon.
  14. 8/30/22 - Changed server title from "[SG] JAILBREAK | GANGS | STEAM-GAMERS.NET" to "[SG] JAILBREAK | NO WARDEN | GANGS | RANKS | STEAM-GAMERS" We were trying to pack a bit more into our title to perhaps appeal to more people. We also felt gangs wasn't really a staple of our server, but a draw nonetheless. Not having a warden is what has always separated us from other servers, so therefore that should be somewhere in there. We also wanted to advertise our rank plugins in some sort of way, but we had very limited space in the title, thus "RANKS". This is subject to constant change based on whether or not we feel it's helping us. - Removed a bunch of advertisements off of the server - looking to remove more and add more Jailbreak oriented ones You probably notice our server advertisements popping up in chat nonstop. We went in there and clipped a bunch of them - some having to do with applying for ranks at SG, some about our other servers, and a shit ton about purchasing Supporter. Quite a few were removed in addition to one being added about the ongoing Top Prisoner Contest. I'm interested in removing even more and perhaps adding some that would be more useful for a player, such as the one that advertises the !fo command. - Changed multiple player # requirements regarding the First Order plugin First of all, the biggest one, we changed the required number of players for First Order to be enabled from 12 to 1. Given the low population currently we want to allow people to use First Order more often, plus there's really no harm even if it's just two CTs for one of them to have a bit of time to get the round started off correctly. We also changed the number of players required for the CTs to be able to use the !fo command a second time in one round from 25 to 16. Once again, mostly to do with the low population but also it may promote more order on the CT team if one CT leads the team midway through the round with the orders. Lastly, we changed the amount of players required to extend the First Order timer from 25 to 20. This one, like all of them, is pretty arbitrary, but considering 20 is more than half the server now, it could help when things get chaotic. All of these numbers are subject to constant change based on feedback and results. - Reset T ranks (!top) and launched the "Top Prisoner Contest" with more to come I had grander plans for rolling out multiple contests at once with a more sophisticated prizes system, but time I'm spending working on Jailbreak is limited. However, an optimal scenario would be us running 4 contests consistently each month with much more enticing prizes. For now though, we're running this one contest and we hope people enjoy partaking in it. The prize is pretty great if you have some models you're interested in buying (the server has a lot it seems) so hopefully you're all gunning for that top spot. - Gave server administrators access to /hp, /gravity, and /speed Seems only fair for the public to be aware of this change and the reasoning behind it. We gave admins access to these commands to perform "fun rounds" when the population is kicking up or there's not many people online. People seem to take well to these and have fun with them. However, admins are not to do these once the server hits 10 players, because at that point we want gameplay to occur naturally and newcomers to see how the server truly is. Admins are also expected to call votes or ask for player approval and get roughly 50% of those online on board with doing them. - Regained access to the Jailbreak Steam Group - plans on reforming it This isn't a huge change or anything, and most of you have probably seen my thread regarding our Steam group. But we have access to it again and plan on giving admins the necessary permissions to shoot up announcements when they're trying to populate the server. Additionally, I've purged all comments and plan on purging all announcements and putting more useful stuff there + it just looks less cluttered that way. This isn't a big priority though given the fact that Steam groups have slowly become less popular. We may also look into giving admins permission to call everyone on using the SG Discord. More to come on this. - Jailbreak has its own section, this is a win for all of mankind It only took 7 years of me being here, but Jailbreak finally has its own big and bold forum section. Hopefully this encourages newcomers to look through the section and perhaps give us feedback on certain things, or use any of the subforums it has underneath it. Suggestions for other subforums are welcome, as I have a few ideas of my own. We don't want to clutter it obviously, but we do want to make it as efficient and useful as possible.
  15. Jailbreak Top Prisoner Contest Hello everyone, This is the start to a multitude of monthly events we plan on hosting for the server based on our rank systems. We have more elaborate ideas for the way the prizes will work, but for now it's a bit more simplistic, but competitive nonetheless! Starting today and ending on October 1st, we'll be hosting the Top Prisoner Contest. As most of you know, if you type !top while on Jailbreak it will show a leaderboard. Points are earned on this leaderboard by playing as a prisoner and killing the guards. At the end of the contest period, the person at the very top of the leaderboard will be declared the winner. For this month, the winner will receive 30,000 store credits or the equivalent of purchasing two player models + 1 free month of Premium Supporter! Pretty soon Jailbreak will be running a total of 4 monthly contests once we get everything in order and have some time to work with our technical team. Additionally, as I mentioned earlier, the prizes will be even more enticing than they already are, and with the amount of contests running in unison, there'll be plenty of opportunities to win! So, do you think you're the best prisoner Steam-Gamers Jailbreak has to offer? Do you think you can beat every other player in a race to the top? Hop on the server, start killing some guards, and have some fun!
  16. Steel_ has been banned for 2 weeks across all of our platforms for general unwanted behavior / being a nuisance. He has repeatedly lashed out at higher ups and caused trouble in our Discord, in addition to making a couple posts on our forum that he knew went against the rules in which the only intention was to troll. This behavior has continued even after getting his Honorable Gamer rank removed for the exact same reason, meaning he's clearly not getting the message. We hope that this will get the point across that this behavior is unacceptable and must come to an end.
  17. Hey guys, For anyone who doesn't know, we have a Steam group specifically for our Jailbreak server. The group has been dead for some time but we're going to start using it to announce events and whenever we're trying to populate the server. We'll probably keep away from announcing changes or anything of that nature there, we don't want to spam the group too much. But if you want to join and rep the tag on the server, that'd be great. The previous tag was something like '#TEAMJB' or something but I changed it to 'SG Jailbreak'. I think that looks cleaner and more people will wear it. You guys tell me though, if you want a different clantag we're up for suggestions. The group link: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/sgjailbreak Thanks.
  18. I wrote a big ass post like 3 times here and kept deciding it wasn't worth it. What do you think SG should do? Here's the question I want everyone to ask themselves: if you were the President right now, what would be your grand plan? What would you put in motion? Would you turn us into a 'gaming hub' on Discord? Timeline that for me and make me understand how we're going to survive long-term. Would you shutdown all the servers instantly because it's 'time to give up'? Give me a list of pros and cons, how would that help the community? Everyone keeps asking questions, answer some for me. I'm so curious as to what's going on in the minds of all the people asking the questions.
  19. Please for the love of fuck don't devolve this thread into a discussion about the focus of the community, I just want Jailbreak in its own fucking section. @Revenga Great ideas, I love the layout. Yes, totally agree that map suggestions could go under the server section and that it'd encourage people to use it, be easier to keep track of, etc. Everything else looks great. I don't think it'll look too cluttered but if it does we should cut down elsewhere instead of compromising imo.
  20. I don't really know how any of this works, so I can't critique the idea or see any glaring issues with it. And I'm willing to learn how to do all of that in our Discord to use that, I only see potential benefits to it. However, the forums are still dead and I still think this idea could help not only remedy that, but also still promote even more discussion and involvement. Let's be real - there's much more benefit to making Jailbreak its own section than having "Team Fortress 2", "SCP", "Media Events", "SG Scrim League", "Steam-Gamers Raffle"... the list goes on. It'd still be a positive change regardless IMO.
  21. This would also allow us to create subforums under our specific sections, such as a subforum dedicated to "Feedback Threads" for Jailbreak so all the ones I'm posting are easily accessible. There's also rule discussions, general questions about the server, you can even have a secondary "Events" subforum. This could potentially make it so that we can garner mini communities within the forum that only pay attention to that one section.
  22. Given the state of the community; the lack of forum activity and how dead the servers are, I think we should separate the server subforums into their own sections, or at least Jailbreak, TTT, and MG. While the sidebars with the latest posts and threads are useful, I often come across threads by scrolling through the forum. Maybe that's an old habit given I used the forums before those sidebars, but I still think this could help even if marginally. For reference, I'm referring to this: Separate out those three servers into their own sections so in case a TTT thread gets made or anything else in that section, it doesn't overlap anyone else like myself trying to call attention to threads about my server. This could also help people who aren't avid forum users see the section of the server they play easier.
  23. Hello everyone, As we make an attempt to rekindle what we've lost in our player population, our map pool becomes a crucial aspect to the server. As many of you who play the server regularly may know, a bad map can diminish the population to nothing, especially in our current state. Currently, we're running 27 maps on our server. Personally, and as per a suggestion by @Phoenix_, I think it may be best to cut this number down to 10-12 maps instead. Now, this heavily depends on the direction we want to take the server. However, I'm going to save that discussion for another thread. For now, I think we need to simply key in on the fact that some maps populate our server and some maps kill them. This is how it works with any server. Our priority needs to be a map rotation that doesn't leave any room for the map being the reason the server dies out - this is the absolute bare minimum we can do to ensure the server stays populated. I'd ask that you all look at this as objectively as possible, so even if you enjoy the map personally, if you've seen the map diminish the population and you can reasonably assume it was because of the map, let us know. We can reassess any map you guys want in the future once we've garnered a more stable population, but for now we have to make some sacrifices. Additionally, if you think there's any maps we should add back, you can suggest it. I'd lean towards being very conservative with the amount of additions though. As always though, this is up to you guys. I'm curious to hear if there's any maps you greatly dislike or if there's any that you've seen kill the population. Here is our current list for reference: ba_jail_electric_razor_go_pb ba_jail_electric_revamp_f3 ba_jail_minecraftparty_v9 jb_arcade_b6 jb_avalanche_csgo_b8c jb_chicken_island jb_clouds_pg jb_downtown_b3 jb_dystopian_b6 jb_jailberd_v5_final_fix jb_lego_jail_2k17_hd jb_moonjail_sgfix_1 jb_moti2_final jb_neon_v1_4 jb_prison_architect_v2 jb_pyrenees_v1_2 jb_spy_vs_spy_beta7-2 jb_summer_jail_hdr_fix jb_undertale_v1e jb_vice_v1 jb_vipinthemix_b1 jb_obama_v5_beta_fixv2 jb_marioworld_rsc_sgedit_v4 jb_peanut_v3r jb_elwrci ba_mlcastle_se jb_legobels_corp_v1d I haven't been on the server for a while, however just from eyeballing this list I'll give you what I think the ideal list would look like based on my experience in our server in the past and with other Jailbreak servers. These are undoubtedly widely popular on our server however maybe I'm missing some that have come to be extremely liked, and perhaps some of these have come to be extremely disliked: ba_jail_electric_razor_go_pb ba_jail_electric_revamp_f3 ba_jail_minecraftparty_v9 jb_clouds_pg jb_lego_jail_2k17_hd jb_moonjail_sgfix_1 jb_spy_vs_spy_beta7-2 jb_summer_jail_hdr_fix jb_undertale_v1e jb_vipinthemix_b1 jb_legobels_corp_v1d I don't know some of the maps on rotation as they might've come out in recent years, and some of them I've had the privilege of playing on the server while just not being the biggest fans of them. Which is why community feedback and different perspectives on this are crucial with this. Please post your thoughts, whether you feel like commenting on one map in particular or drafting up your own ideal rotation. Thanks.
  24. I believe you're 100% correct, now that you mention it. We can bring this back permanently and probably just disable the features, if that works for everyone. Cool ideas, worried about complicating the plugin too much though - both for the person developing it now and for causing it to break in the future. I'm not super experienced in this area, but I know what a pain in the ass plugins like this can be with how many times something more simple like Ratio Control broke (and is still broken apparently). I think you'd have a better idea of if it'd really be that hard, or I'll just see when I bring it to the TAs. Big fan of this idea. Squads is a solid name imo. I like the idea of combining team and normal ranks for each team into one, but again I don't wanna overcomplicate things for the tech guys. Also a super big fan of this idea. Could really help with the T side stacking problems.
