Punishing people for doing the right thing isn't alright but we no doubt have people who bullshit on those threads. I guess, I'm just an SJW and people that are disingenuous piss me off. If it's not possible to implement then there is no point of moving forward by discussing the merits of it anyway.

Yeah I'm wrong about the post count, oops. I don't think it's our place to tell whether people are being genuine or are just shit posting based off little evidence, but the fact is that the majority of people who run onto these birthday threads are just shit posting. For example when 25 people post on a Birthday thread for someone who joined the forums 8 years ago & hasn't logged on since they were playing with lego blocks it starts to become blatantly obvious peoples intentions. Judging individuals on a case by case basis is obviously not fair but I think a lot of people would agree that the sections I mentioned above are used to increase post count by new players and I've often heard our regulars cite these sections to new players seeking out Regular. In response to The solution to not judging someone is I think we should just remove the incentive for people to be disingenuous as shit in the first place. If adding this would severely reduce everyone's post count & I can definitely see not doing this though as it's simply an unfair judgement to make.

People ARE abusing it, it's just not delete worthy because it's just straight up scummy. You can't delete someones post for saying "Happy Birthday" the same way you can't gun someone in the street down for Jay walking.

I mean not to throw shade directly at the few people who fucked Meme Machine up for everyone else, but those few people degrading the section got it changed completely. I'd say Meme Machine was like 80% good intentions(though still garbage memes), 20% bullshit. Birthday Threads is like at least 65% bullshit, 35% good intentions. I don't think restricting post count for the section would clear out posts already made as threads moved to Spam Central generally keep post count & thank count. When's the last time you saw a CA delete something in a Birthday Thread?

It's not the fact that they receive post count It's that their majority reason for posting is just to receive post count, which I think is scummy enough to crack down on. It's kinda like when we had to change Meme Machine cause people were shitposting in it due to low restrictions.

My point wasn't really about admin applications but rather that it's just a shitty & obnoxious thing people do that I'd like to see stop. I'll still criticize people for being weak minded & non productive when they apply for admin either way.

Yeah if one can't be done without the other I would understand not doing it.

Can we make Happy Birthday posts not count towards overall post count? It gives me hives to watch a large sum of people post on these Happy Birthday threads for thanks & post count but not because they just wanna make someones day genuinely brighter. People who just post majority on Introductions, Resignations, Promotions, What are you listening also make me wanna jump from my roof but Birthday Threads.. like cmon. Really? Anyway.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

You can use stats to find someones playtime. We really don't want to create restrictions for CT as it makes it hard for the server population to start up from people other than regulars.

Gonna have to be more specific as far as the rules are concerned. I will say the server isn't dead and you're partially wrong as far as admins are concerned. Some admins are useful and make the server great. Some admins are awful, don't even bother paying attention & at some points can make the server less fun to play on. The servers are full either way so something is going right I guess.

Find a computer repair shop near you and get them to troubleshoot what the actual problem is. If you waste money trying to get a new Processor, Graphics card, etc.. you could very well have the same exact issue as you have no idea what the actual problem is. If you want to take the route of listening to the people on this forum instead of someone who can take a physical look I would check the heat sink as if it was done properly there is no reason why temperatures should get that fucking extreme. (unless the fire nation is actually attacking then godbless @Delirium) At a certain point it just starts to look like you're spam posting instead of actually trying to fix the issue.

The whole arguement about crouching & no jumping being implied is really petty. It's so petty that we literally couldn't know whether it would hurt or help more without implementing it. It literally feels like a fix that has nothing to do with quality of life and much more to do with people bitching. The simple fact is people are going to bitch no matter what, they will find a reason-any reason. Leave it the way it is and they'll constantly bitch that they didn't hear the order. Change it and people will post 25 threads a month and bitch at eachother on the server. Honestly makes very little difference.

I don't want this to come off or sound condescending, but the rule is pretty much straight forward and was added because of that specific situation in mind as well as knifing a CT purposefully. This is straight from the rules page here. CT's are allowed to kill a T for throwing a grenade at them if there was obviously an attempt to harm or kill the CT. The same applies for when a T is chasing a CT and knifing at him. Basically, even if you're joking/claim to be joking if it lands reasonably close they can you kill for attempt to kill. I haven't seen this happen nor ever plan to see this happen so I'm kinda confused about this but whatever.
