Abortion...

You're trolling right? Or do you just not read lynxie posts? He was making the comparison between vasectomies and abortion like they're at all comparable or one justifies the other. I was just pointing out that women also have a way of preemptively preventing pregnancy through surgery that doesn't involve killing fetuses. -

I think simplifying it as "sex not to have kids" it's an obvious misrepresentation and sidestepping of the topic on your part, but maybe you did this unintentionally. Would you say it's inaccurate to say that sexuality has never been more lax, in general, and displays of such in media and public have never been more blatant? -

Bear with me, gonna go off the deep end a bit, but it's hard to have these discussions without reaching into the foundation of where your thoughts stem from. Obviously the case has been made that someone else having an abortion doesn't directly affect me, assuming I'm not the victim of it lol. To be honest, I wouldn't want to have been aborted, regardless of the life I'd be brought into in the same way I wouldn't want my life cut short now. Sure it could be painless and obviously there'd be no regret to feel, but I prefer to life my life to it's potential and make my own decision about whether or not my own life is worth it, trying my best to make it worthwhile for others where I can. I already hear people typing "that's not a fair comparison" or "what about the person who got themselves pregnant's right to live their life to it's potential", so I'll concede that you're welcome to make those comments and it's not my main point. Apart from the protection of life, or the potential of life, this has other indirect consequences that affect myself or society as a whole. Incel warning. Most of these posts seem to give off a vibe that there's some inherent right to risk-free sexual activity and that it's something that should be preserved or campaigned for - people no longer even bother tracing back to the inception or looking into the morality of responsibility anymore. I'm sure you guys can discern your own opinions on that and I don't have to say much more on that. Apart from that, I don't think that the idea of casual sex is good for society. I think the sexual dynamics and people's perspectives on it has had significant negative consequences on the mental health, ability to form relationships, perversion of youth, and building of functional families in both men and women alike. I don't think this is something we can just educate people on or solve in some other way like pulling more tax dollars into therapy or a more healthy form of sexual education. I think there's merit to preserving some of the immediate consequences of dismissive sexuality. This is really a topic and perspective that deserves more explanation and discussion than the five minutes I took writing in my car, but I have other things to do with my time and don't want to derail to hard anyways. On that note, I'm going to derail further and prod deeper into your moral philosophy with a completely unrelated question that's less controversial but should demonstrate the idea of indirect consequences on morality. I'd like you to take time to answer it prior to disparaging comments and picking apart the above perspective if that's not too much to ask. What's your stance on the morality of the accessibility of pornography to people under the age of 18 (or over for that matter) given the obvious side effects in can have in terms of addiction, negatively impacting person's perspectives on sexuality, the opposite gender, ability to from relationships, etc? Is this something that should be legally regulated? -

I can't tell if you're misreading the point intentionally or not. You made the case that people should pack up their moral convictions and live them out through their own lives, NOT campaigning for society to move in favor of what is right. I think that notion is ridiculous and completely contrary to what you and most other people actually believe and live out. -

Against murder? Just don't murder people, dumbass. I will fledge this out in about an hour when I get off work, but what an incredibly asinine and shallow take. If you, @BoMand @Easterpinkcould work together to form a post about why you think there's a significant distinction between morality and law that would be extremely helpful in understanding your viewpoint. -

Weak sauce boss. I'm sure you have your own opinions about what a woman can do with her born child. Not being directly involved in something doesn't mean that you can't have an opinion on the ethics of it. In fact, you could make the case that it would make you less partisan, more qualified to pass judgement on it. Ok cool, glad you have an opinion on whether or not someone should be allowed to live or not. Are any of these factors going to keep the child from having a purposeful or worthwhile life? I'm sure many people in this community have had troubles of their own growing up - that doesn't mean their life was better off not happening. If anyone thinks their life isn't worth living, they usually take care of that on their own. Hurr they don't want to spend my tax dollars on someone else's lunch money so they must not care about anyone. Seriously, take two seconds to consider what someone might actually be thinking rather than posting your shit disingenuous take. Source? Are you just unable to fathom that someone could see abortion as morally wrong apart from religious dogma? While you're at it, could you point out how 'pushing Christian morals on an increasingly immoral younger generation' is self evidently bad thing? -

God what an awful take. This isn't a religious issue... It's a question of morality and ethics - which many people derive from their religion (albeit sometimes dogmatically). Religion, after all, is most often believed to have been derived from ethics in the first place and formed as a structure to explain or give importance to it. Yes and no. Obviously it's the court and not a ballot system, but on the question of ethics, isn't common opinion a pretty reasonable starting point for such a difficult topic to discern? If the court were to have ruled on this 150 years ago, public opinion aside, it wouldn't even be a question. 2/3ds of the American public doesn't know what the fuck Roe v Wade is so I don't think it's a reasonable point to make - if you're talking specifically about abortion, I can understand that, but you should've said so in the first place. I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the conservative ideology. Firstly, to write it off as religious and old is very lazy and dishonest. Secondly, the entire point is to be skeptical of change for the sake of change. Who says advancements in technology are always a good thing? Is it a good thing that children are growing up glued to smartphones, crippled by anxiety, attention deficits and difficulty finding meaningful pursuits? Is it a good thing that millions of Americans struggle with depression from a lack of purpose in meaningless, repetitive, sometimes counterproductive jobs for large corporations? Yes, technology has done a lot of good things for us, it's fed the hungry, treated the ill, etc. but once again it's very lazy and simple-minded to say that there's a need to constantly progress it and that's self evident. It's getting late and I need to sleep so I'm gonna wrap this up real quick. Might delve further into detail tomorrow or just reply to whatever you post of it's something worthwhile. This might sound crazy to you but - it's not an inarguable right. I know I know, it sounds ridiculous but - people can actually believe that there's not a significant difference between taking a life before or after birth and that it might be a serious moral transgression apart from religious dogma. I'll leave you with some smooth jazz to listen to as you read. -
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO Old TTT managers be like 'nah bro seeding don't work' then send one message in shoutbox and don't get on the server for more than 10 minutes. LET'S GOOOOOOOO Keep it up. On the server every day. Interact with people. Keep things alive and chill. Wish I had the time to help you guys with pop, maybe I'll afk while I'm at work at some point for rank Good shit boys

The issue here is that you've boxed yourself into a pretty cut and dry gamemode without much room to innovate. There's a few things you could do here and there but one of the larger servers that focuses solely on this gamemode would've done it by now if it were going to appeal to people at all. Consider tracers and paintballs as light cosmetics, but you might be better off scrapping them altogether. As far as achievements go, they're pretty self evident - ak kills, headshots, noscopes. Where you can branch out here is finding some way to make it relevant enough for people to give a shit. Accolade titles? Completion percentage as score on the scoreboard? I believe you already mentioned adding a resetting leaderboard - make sure people can flex it, put it next to their name in chat and on the leaderboard. Maybe introduce very light VIP perks like guaranteed AWP that can also be earned with kill count - incentivizing playtime. -

Forgot to add, the reason FragShack is a household name is because it's been around for ages, it's owned by Trail (I think), has been plugged by multiple pros/streamers, has sponsored events (I think), and they have like 30 servers so they'll show up in anyone's browser. I don't think you are going to be able to accomplish a comparable level of exposure with just one server of your idea is to get our name stuck in people's heads. Having something to distinguish our server from others - which will be difficult to do with regular FFA - will give us a reasonable chance at that. -
CA has always been in a weird middle-ground position. It seemed to encompass way too much which resulted in most people in the rank doing just about nothing "because there's so much they could be doing". It caused a huge issue with tracking activity and accountability. It's not even really the fault of the CAs most of the time, they usually just want to be working on the servers as an SM or thought they wanted the promotion, only to realize there's a lot of boring grunt work to be done and there isn't always good discussions to be had or big projects to work on. Introducing server reps was a good split in responsibility and offers a more nonsensical path to server work/management, which is why I suggested it lol. The argument before has always been 'if you care about the servers, you should care about the community' tone deaf to how backwards it is coming from people that don't connect to the servers. Obviously people are capable of being passionate or good at certain things and not at others, so this split was long overdue. I think this is how things should have been since the start, but given our particular position, it would be useful to bring more people into a role of discussing important and sometimes sensitive subjects in an official capacity. I don't know if any modification needs made to the rank for this to occur, there is a point to be made that anyone that can't be trusted with CA level perms off the bat wouldn't be very useful in these discussions anyways. Regardless there is an obvious difference between allowing people into a rank to discuss things in an official capacity, in staff threads - away from posturing, and on topics that aren't in the open compared to just saying these people can make threads. Just look at how some of the recent threads have gone. A lot of people get heated and think they're being publicly lambasted, but in reality they're just so controversial or creative takes that it puts people out of their comfort zone. Some of it is coming from a good place, some of it isn't, but it needs to be said and might be more professional and comfortable for everyone if it's in a staff meeting or thread. I'm not sure if you were looking for something more holistic or relevant than this - I'm not an LA so I don't have a good idea of what your CAs are doing, supposed to be doing, or how you're holding them accountable, but what I will say is to make sure you have your own way of keeping track of your teams progress and holding individuals accountable that you are going to take seriously. Make sure you're also constantly pointing people to where their hands can go - a lot of people twiddle their thumbs when they have too many options and nobody tells them what to do. My taco bells getting cold and I don't have to proofread so I'm going to TLDR here and say CAs should be primarily focused on Community related topics - not server topics, with a secondary responsibility of whatever moderation, busy work, or general help other staff members need. There is now two obvious trees for staff progression, server work and community work. If someone isn't participating in discussions in either camp, they shouldn't be more than admin.

I don't think it will be difficult to create a good warm-up/practice server. Mostly involves just pulling elements that you like from other servers, HS/Eco modes, map rotation or fixed maps, headshot/hit sounds, etc. I don't think there's a lot of input to give here or a lot of groundbreaking things you can do apart from directly polling the community and offering some sort of contest/stimulus for people to come populate. My issue with this sort of FFA is that it doesn't really foster a community all that well. People don't talk on these types of servers or check out the community. They log on, get their kills, and log off - even during this servers prime we didn't see any community influx, we just had another active server under our belt. The riskier but more fun and rewarding alternative is building your own gamemode that would foster a community. Gamemodes in this vein would be crackheads, gingham, combat surf etc. This allows you to do custom maps, cosmetics, plugins etc in a way that gives you a lot more creative liberty. We have dabbled with this in the past obviously, but a lot of our shortcomings are pretty self evident and wouldn't be difficult to address this time around - not that we wouldn't be digging up a whole host of new ones and have much less regulars to get the initial population. If this is something that interests you, not that you need to commit to it, we should get a discussion going about how previous shortcomings can be addressed, what worked and didn't, and what you'd like to see happen with a new server. -

After huffing some gas I have some idea that might be fun to look into. Firstly, I want to ask if you have any intended direction, purpose, or direction for the server. FFA servers are usually used just to warm up or get a quick practice in before comp, but I get the feeling you may have more up your sleeve. -
I understand this approach and the logistics behind launching the server - which is why I don't think it's the best way of going about things. Option 1 - Surprise Launch Server manager and a few helper bees have a very limited set of eyes and mouths and get the server in a running condition. People get on and see it sucks, leave or stick around to write a bunch of input that the managers will be salty about because they've already done a ton of work to get it running or actually take it to heart and have to undo/redo a lot of things that would've been easier if they'd known from the start. I'm not saying managers have to listen to every little whim of the people, but it's more likely that they'll take suggestions rationally if they're paced out and delivered prior/while work is being done. Option 2 - All Hands on Deck My theory (with a limited amount of experience) is that people are more willing to work on something that they can feel like they're part of rather than critiquing what's already been done. There are a handful of examples at the staff level that you may or may not think apply. Regardless, input delivered here would be taken more appropriately by devs and they'd be more willing to incorporate it into their work. When the server actually launches, it'll be in a much more useable state and the group of people that were able to help with it can act as a rebuilt reg pop rather than having the Dev/Devs pop and forcing CAs to come along, which they may or may not do. The most clear example of this to me is Combat Surf, but I'm sure this can also extend to Minecraft, Squad or other projects in some regards. I'm not super knowledgeable on this but I don't think this approach has been taken often or ever and I think it's worth giving a shot on at least one of the current or future server projects. I genuinely think this will boost the chance of servers being successful by a large margin.

Who's not reading what now lol Go back through the thread and get back to me when you can follow along. I don't mean to mislead you but I'm just here to help out where I can in my very busy schedule - my gf's been out of town for a while so I've had a bit more time than usual to pacify my boredom. Props to Hunter for doing this anyways - this is useful to all servers, but I'm referencing unreleased servers
-
I don't mean to put anyone down, but what argument can these people make that their project is going to turn out differently than any other server launched in the past? Are they doing something gamechanging and unique from every previous approach? I can understand the appeal of launching something as a 'finished product' and getting sucked off by all the people excited to see something new, but it never pans out. What launches is the first 'playable' version of what one or two people envisioned a server looking like and were able to scrap together on their own. I don't mean to denigrate any work that's going into these, it takes serious effort and a good amount of skill to actually get something up and running, but not giving it the best chance possible and opening the door to constructive feedback or having someone look into your shortcomings is all ego. This also adds an element of accountability. I understand the Board should already be looking over peoples shoulders in this regard, but your hands seem to be too full to do that in the same way a small entourage of interested parties could, or could assist in motivating things to move along. A fun way for me to build hype on TTT changes and projects in the past was just to sit in discord channels editing maps and talking about the state/changes to the server with whoever was interested. Maybe if an official announcement/thread/subforum isn't the way things are going to go, it could be worthwhile urging managers to go this route for that more grassroots feel you're searching for.
-
In all fairness I wrote this out immediately after the last thread was locked but decided to still post it because it was mostly relevant even after your thread and because I was bored. I use projects quite a bit here but what I'm referring to is new servers. It's been previously eluded to or stated that we are branching out into new games - I'm merely suggesting that when any of these are concrete enough to say will happen, they should be as transparent and open source as possible - prior to actually launching. I did read your thread but noticed the revised roles of CA was not explicitly stated. I'm sure I could cross reference and extrapolate out what specifically is left, but I assume it is more than exclusively advising and arguing. I'm suggesting it should not be - so that you can funnel more retards off the streets and into an outlet they can be productive as quickly as possible. You come off as really hostile and defensive in many of your posts; I suppose I can understand your paranoia being the #1 target for shit flinging but it kind of kills the vibe when I'm trying to joke around with you or say something mildly controversial. I'm your friend, I'm not going to pull your pants down in public...unless it's really funny.

We actually briefly talked about this in one of my psych classes in college. I think the theory goes that pain is already all in your head anyways, just delivered by the nervous system, so dream can easily emulate it. Actual pain felt outside of dreams can also be incorporated into dreams which is kind of cool. Personally, I've never experienced pain in dreams but a large portion of my dreams revolve around me forgetting to do assignments or breaking things like dropping my phone or crashing my car which can lead to me waking up with a sudden flood of panic/anxiety.
-
Can you guys go 15 minutes without locking a thread Firstly, open up any projects related to new games and servers that you are confident will see the the light of day. Our CSGO servers have had a history, culture, experienced players, an established population, etc. You could stick any retard in SM for a short amount of time and as long as they listen to the community and don't fuck with things too much the server still had a decent chance of staying alive. Any time we've started a new project in the past, it has none of these things going for it that might give it a decent chance of success. It gets a few goober SMs/CAs that may or may not give a shit and it kept under wraps for literally no reason. These projects should at minimum already be opened up to the CA level to get as many hands on deck as possible. More realistically, open it at the community level and you might find a few people that actually have decent experience with the game or are actually going to stick with it (unlike literally any CAs when squad released). You need brainstorming, hype and as many hands as possible to turn these servers into something that won't be DOA like they always have been. I understand in the past some projects have been given the 'PM someone if you want to get involved treatment' but I don't think that cuts it. Make a subforum, post changelogs, make a thread outlining how people can help, play testing, making assets, suggestions. Secondly, make a role called HALL MONITOR and use it to cleave all the prestigious and powerful perms off of CA. The majority of this role of moderating has already been passed up to IA/BD I'm sure, due to the sensitive state of the community. This also allows you to usher in the people you need to into this role. At the time I was LA, we had about 20 CAs. Four of them would regularly post in threads or talk at meetings. Because of all the bureaucracy about rank, trust, posturing, etc. it was impossible to ever get anyone into the role that was actually passionate and willing to talk about community topics, and the second I did, they were shipped up the ladder to SM/IA. I and you can find at least a handful of people in the community that are more passionate, knowledgeable, creative than the majority of past CAs but most likely wouldn't be put in the role if they paid you $100. Is it because they'd butt heads with people? Argue? How do you expect to have any meaningful discussion without that lol. If they had some outlet to do this privately and discuss meaningful topics in a constructive way, maybe they'd be less inclined to publicly lambast you - see a number of current staff that already fit the bill lol. Thank you!

Seems we may have somewhat of a middle ground here. The track has value and makes sense - inside the context of the album. Where I disagree is I feel that on its own it's very weak, it's not very good to listen to on its own or out of order. It's not a new concept to have a theme or story for an album, but it's uncommon for albums to feature tracks that are dependent on the rest of the album to be enjoyable/have value and I don't think it was executed well in this case - it forces you to sit down and listen to the album from start to finish any time you want to get something out of it. I am judging the scene on its own, I think that's perfectly reasonable in the modern era when you're not popping a CD in to listen to a whole album every time - you put things on playlists - and this ain't going on. -

Events - not event. I suppose you could twist it to include the events referenced in dialogue if you were so inclined, but I was using story in a more traditional sense - plot, arc, resolution etc. Which is why I think scene is more fitting. Imagine you ask your dad to tell you a story before bed and he brings your mom in and just starts ragging on her for half an hour and finishes off with "yeah, hope you enjoyed it, figure that one out buddy" I never started with calling it bad, I think it's very mid. When people say "you just don't get it" or "this is very deep" I'm not being contrarian, I already disagree with them, I think it's a very pretentious thing to say. I understand that it was made with purpose, I just think the song isn't good and what it's trying to do is very lazy.
