  1. Just a quick response since this thread is mostly dead. Not going to format it just gonna go down some of your points. Supreme Court's job includes interpretation of the Constitution, interpretation meaning there is subjectivity involved. Never said anything about feelings, never said anything about mask mandates, and whatever other stories you brought up. Diverse group = diverse set of insights = better and fairer interpretation. Not going to reiterate this point again. Racism involves a belief of inferiority or incapability of a certain race according to your own provided definition. I believe that accounting for someones race in a position like this does not imply that belief (matter of new insights, not inferiority/superiority). I think what Biden is doing is definitely teetering on the edge of racial discrimination, but no one is defending him. People who choose to be "colorblind" and say race should never be accounted for are just too uncomfortable in confronting our country's realities with race. There's evidence that race still negatively affects minorities throughout a lot of America's infrastructure today - don't ask me for a source, look into it yourself. Race still matters, so if you ignore it you ignore the discrimination people are facing with it too. Feel good black people success stories do nothing but trick conservatives into thinking all races have equal and fair opportunity in America. I guess Ben Shapiro talkshows influenced enough people to keep this whole cultural reductionism thing around still. People really think the government still doesn't try to put minorities down? It's funny too because a lot of the people who buy into this stuff oppose legislation designed to help these communities out anyways. Last time I'm responding to this thread, too many responses for something I don't even care about that much anyways.
  2. Congrats Infinity!!
  3. I do think everyone can agree to this. No decision should be made solely for the sake of diversity. Biden is just stupid and trying to act woke by this move, case closed.
  4. Notice how I never argued the Supreme Court needs diversity for the sake of groups having representation. Diversity provides a variety of perspectives which I believe enables the Supreme Court to make fairer, more informed decision making. You don't believe any elected justice's background provides much new insight, which I believe it does, so I'll agree to disagree with you there. I think perspective and diversity is especially important as one of the jobs of the Supreme Court is to interpret the law - the concept of interpretation obviously being far from the idea you brought up that the Supreme Court is only about objectivity. I believe in those cases, having a diverse pool of perspectives is useful for making a better ruling. Seeing an issue through multiple lenses provides a clearer picture and leads to a better ruling. We all benefit from a court diverse with race, gender, professional background, and as you mentioned, free from partisanship. Also, I guess congrats on using a dumb statistic and then backtracking and saying "muh.. I was just pretending to be an idiot. stay mad lul!" The joke really landed well given you had to explain yourself. If that's not what you were trying to do, then sorry you lost me. EDIT: I also agree with your one point that Biden was stupid saying he was solely looking for a black female for the position. I think we can both come together and embrace the idea that Biden has mostly been a moron up to this point in his presidency. No one said to choose an unqualified candidate for the sake of diversity. You're arguing with nobody. No offense but I mostly don't know what you're even trying to get at here. News flash: not everything in life is going to be seen through a Republican or Democrat lens. Also, not sure if you know but the Supreme Court is also literally a nonpartisan entity - their job is to rule and interpret the law without their own political biases (although one could argue how well they actually accomplish that). I only brought up the Republican/Democrat analogy for my argument that no one should want a Supreme Court with a limited perspective. Diversity and justices with different backgrounds helps balance out any skewed perspectives on any given issue, leading to fairer interpretations and rulings.
  5. I think some people in this thread don't really understand or want to recognize the importance of diversity in establishments like this. Most of us can agree a person's gender, race, etc. greatly impacts their life experiences and life perspectives. Anyone who can't agree on that has probably either been shielded from that reality or aren't mature enough to make that admission just yet. Now, on the Supreme Court, a group which deals with a wide variety of issues affecting a wide variety of people, wouldn't you want the court to have a wide variety of perspectives and insights? Diversity in the Supreme Court should be embraced; a diverse group will be able to see issues through a variety of different lenses and therefore make a stronger decision. This is why in most companies you'll find their board of directors are purposefully composed of a diverse pool of individuals: diversity brings needed important perspectives. A Supreme Court lacking diversity will fail to bring in different insights and make a fair decision, just like how a fully Republican-leaning or Democrat-leaning court would also fail to do the same. In a way, I would argue bringing in more diversity and providing new life perspectives is a qualification for a position like this. Notice how I'm focusing on positions meant for providing insight specifically, because we have people like this.. ..who throw around these statistics yet blatantly ignore or fail to consider any differences between the US Supreme Court and an NBA basketball team. It doesn't require a lot of thought to realize how diversity in an NBA team (where all that really matters is your physical talents and basketball abilities) might not be as important as it is in the Supreme Court, where the justices have to discuss and rule on literally the most important issues in the entire country. I find it hilarious people still throw around this statistic thinking it holds any weight. Do I think that Biden should solely be considering black female candidates for this new position? Not at all. However, too often when a headline like this pops up people fall back on the "I want the most qualified candidate for the position" stance without considering how diversity plays a role in that very position.
  6. Lets goooooo @crazedkangaroo congrats!!! Congrats on everything you did here @Trazz, you were one of the most dedicated staff members I had the opportunity to work with.
  7. Wait I was in the Super Bowl?
  8. I agree with you. Events get people on, but it hasn't shown itself to be a legitimate solution yet. We had the momentum and the events and nothing stuck.
  9. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the last time ZE experienced a lot of population around the summer months? I see there were weekly events all the way up till last month but I don't think the server was very populated. To me that resurgence looked to be more of a bunch of OG players seeding the servers for a bit and subsequently getting burnt out. Regardless I think the goal should be to not having to constantly rely on events to maintain any server population. Population boosts from events have evidently not stuck with all the servers being empty now. The temporary momentum isn't transferring to long term success. I don't know much about the ZE community but I think its going to be hard to try and pull the existing ZE playerbase away from the more popular servers, if that's the goal. Building up a new ZE base might be even harder. I'm not going to speak much more about ZE as I'm really not familiar with the community and could be wrong about this stuff. I was sort of going away from the topic of ZE to begin with and talking about servers in general as its a community wide issue. I don't mean to sound harsh or come off the wrong way but every attempt to grow this community has flopped in recent memory. All expansion servers and new CS servers thrived for a month or less and then died out. Now the servers that used to be our most popular are now mostly empty (with the exception of JB), even after countless management changes. It's definitely a worrisome trend which is why I brought up maybe evaluating this community's model as a whole.
  10. Mostly agree with everything you said here and in your other posts. I mentioned this in the TTT dying post, but I would really like to see more drastic changes to jumpstart this community, and I hope those discussions are already going on at the higher up levels. Events do nothing for population. They are a luxury, not a solution, sorry dafty. Any success you see from them is mostly not sustainable. The asking people to seed strategy has flopped every single time in recent memory and shown no signs of success. If you need people to seed, then there is something probably wrong with what your server provides or changes need to be made. No need for anyone to go after and blame the management, I believe the intentions are there, but evidently nothing done has been enough. Take everything I say here with a grain of salt as I was not involved with any of these launches, but I felt like there didn't appear to be any legitimate long term strategy for our expansion servers after launch. If there were, they clearly weren't winning formulas. TF2, Squad, Rust (in particular) from my perspective seemed to just be mostly dropped on the community and left to go on its own shortly after. None worked out. I remember the latter two expansions being called successes and then proceeding to die within a month. No personal disrespect to any of these guys, but I noticed our previous original Rust managers playing exclusively on other Rust servers daily while their server was actively dying. I think any future expansions probably need a more detailed and thought-out post-launch plan and the selected managers really need to be on board and dedicated. Shoutout @John tho, I know u really cared about TF2. I don't have the information to say whether its our community servers in particular that are dying or if CS servers are dying in general. If its our servers, then we definitely need to be exploring drastic changes. Fundamental changes to our servers, dropping certain gamemodes and shifting our focus to generally more popular ones, and anything else to jumpstart our CS community. If its generally a CS server thing, we need to possibly look to transition to more popular and promising games. I think it could also be worth reflecting on how much gaming servers as a whole should fit into this community's future. Maybe it's time to transition to a different community format? Nothing here is a clear cut solution. I know some ideas I brought up seem incredibly drastic, but I think at the very least everything can and should be discussed at this point.

  16. Fun in concept but just fails in execution usually. We haven’t found a successful game plan for expanding into Minecraft. Servers just tread water for a bit until our regulars get tired of playing it.
  17. Yeah I would recommend playing it it would be a good event! I was playing it last night some of the people on there are funny.
