  1. don't listen to trak on the PSU. after this last build, finally using a modular power supply, i'll NEVER go back to non-modular. its really that wonderful.
  2. Lol. I just installed mine in the new computer i built yesterday. It doesn't really run that hot, once you get ample cooling.. which you should do regardless of how warm something runs. I'll post pictures later today, including some of the card close up so you can see it. Idk about other brands, but EVGA learned from the 295 that these cards run crazy hot, so they put a gigantic (4-6 inch) heatsink over the whole card, and then a heatsink over the chip with big ass heat pipes coming off of it.
  3. I used to have the same problem. One way to correct the issue is once you're in college, sign up for a degree that literally makes you too busy to give half a fuck about video games. This semester that ended a few weeks ago, i literally had no time to play ANY video games. But for real, i was the exact same way. The only way I found to fix it, is to sort out your priorities, forcefully, consciously, and continuously. For the most part, for me at least, it was just I looked at video games the wrong way. Growing up as a lonely fat ass, video games were all I had as a child. So I looked at it as much more than a drug. It was all I ever wanted to do. I saw school/social engagements etc. as chores/obstacles between me and video games. It got so bad at one point, that I would dread any and everything that made me get out of the house or off of my fat ass in general. Even going out to eat I would pester my family to hurry up because I wanted to get back to playing games. You've just got to make the conscious change to stop giving as much of a fuck about video games. No offense to anyone here, but you have to remind yourself, people you play video games with that you met and only spend time with over the internet, are NOT your real friends/people who should be that important to you. Remind yourself that its much better to forgo wasting time on your favorite hobby to spend time with friends/on school/with family. Constantly remind yourself while playing games/looking at websites/whatever it is that you may waste time on, that you have to do that homework assignment. And if you find yourself playing video games when you still have those 15 problems of math to do, you have to force yourself to buck up and do it anyway. Even if its to the point that you stayed up to 2AM playing CSS, guess what, champ? You don't deserve to go to sleep that night. you get to do that homework instead! Good luck in any regard.
  4. alot of you are really weak. I tip my hat to jaeger tho.. jeez that humidity must suck ass. It's 85F (29C) to 110F (43C) here every day from mid april to mid september. Although i live in a very dry place thankfully, because ive been to humid places before, and it sucks so much. it could be only 85F out, but let me tell you, the summer i helped fix up houses in Mississippi sucked ass. The humidity nearly ceases all brain function and you sweat from places you didn't know had sweat glands.
  5. anything over ~75 or so for a graphics card is pushing it. correct me if im wrong, but i don't think you're supposed to mix and match cards for SLI. true, it probably only matters that they're both 8800GTs, but i have a feeling the XFX is probably factory OC'd or something?
  6. Rooted Droid

xda-dev was my favorite website back when i used windows phones.
  7. that's about the measurement you can see with your eye, of the right amount of thermal paste to put on the CPU.
  8. yeah i know it does. if it doesnt run cool enough for my standards, im going to add like 3 more fans. i even got a fan speed controller in anticipation.
  9. they don't make PSUs for fucks sake lol. every company that shadow listed uses seasonic's PSUs. and i am quite fond of the smell of burning electronics. solely from when i cause it to happen while soldering things in project labs.
  10. put half of a grain of rice on it. that's more than enough.
  11. what do i think? i think usb headsets (even if the soundcard it is using is to create the "surround sound") suck. I also think for that kind of cash (or just slightly more) you could just get a higher quality pair from a better brand.
  12. My Mic is Too Quiet

it is that simple. i promise. if you have a creative sound card, check there for boost as well. No offense, but you deserve this for such a smart-ass remark: if you "knew how to use a computer", you'd never ask anything, ever.
  13. they do that if they suspect you trying to gyp them. overall they are a shining example of customer service. you can indeed tell them something is wrong with it (even if its minor.. make sure to do your research and find a very common issue), and then youll have both.
  14. lol, might have been. what the hell else would make a power supply break the moment you turned it on.
  15. i honestly dont know what he can do other than wait for some help from logitech. there's only 1 of 3 possibilities of what is going wrong: 1. As I first stated, the driver is too old, and Microsoft went through and marked very old/very conflicting (written for xp that wont work/will BSOD in 7) and forcefully hardcoded a block for the specific software version and its installer (happend to me when i first tried to install my old copy of Alcohol 120) 2. Possibly some service isnt running, but i seriously doubt this since its straight up not allowing the installation. 3. Its broked.
  16. 1, fuck usb headsets. 2, you need to get a new driver. try letting it update through device properties
  17. I'll have pictures once the parts come in and I put it together. Anyway, I went way, way, WAY overboard on this build.. but its for my birthday.. the big two one.. so what the hell. To put this in perspective, i've never, NEVER, EVER, owned the most expensive card at the time of purchase before.. normally i would get the low midline or a top of the line from several years prior off of ebay. Keep in mind that the vast majority of this build was made with future proofing in mind. ON TO THE PARTS : Case: Thermaltake ArmorPlus PSU: SeaSonic X750 Gold CPU (already had awaiting this build): Core i7-860 Motherboard: MSI P55-GD85 RAM: GeIL Black Dragon 4GB Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) SuperClocked Input on each part: Case: Absolutely everything i want in a case, completely. If it ever comes to the point for it, it has 10 expansion slots and room for extended ATX, aka i could go 4-way sli if i so choose several several years down the line. PSU: I don't know how many of you know this, but Seasonic is the reason/company behind EVERY single world class PSU manufacturer. Corsair didn't just magically find out how to make amazing power supplies as well as memory out of nowhere. Neither did PC Power & Cooling, for that matter. These guys have been doing PSUs since the 80s, and constantly research new ways to improve on it. THIS review sold me on this power supply, in case you're curious. CPU: The best balance of power and price in the P55 architecture. (I liked the newer architecture that got rid of the north/south bridges) Motherboard: USB 3.0, SATA III. What more do I need to say? Well, apparently the 1 touch OC actually works incredibly well. Also the pipes apparently can make your system run several C lower than otherwise. Also, MSI has just about as good as a reputation as ASUS, with me. RAM: I stumbled upon GeIL a while back when searching for some decent DDR2 RAM and just happened to find their black dragon RAM, and I liked how cool it looked. After some research, they turned out to be a rather impressively dedicated to quality company, that also happens to be a rather common OEM supplier for other companies. They stress test up to a 1000 sticks of a batch at up to 100 fucking C FFS! Also, once you go black dragon, you want black dragon.. those LEDs make you weak in the knees after a while. So I happily searched to make sure they had DDR3, and they did, thankfully. Graphics Card: This was VERY HARD to convince myself to buy. Like I already stated, I've never, EVER been the type to own the most expensive card, much less have I ever spent as much as I did on just about every part excluding the RAM on any part I've ever purchased. But again, I wanted to future proof the shit out of this build, and I was tired of having to tone down the resolution, or the AA. Also didn't like seeing my computer choke back when I played Arkham Asylum when the PhysX stuff was on screen. Went with the superclocked because it was only 30 dollars more, and because I've had great experience in the past with EVGA's manufacturer overclock.. tends to be more accepting of the more... "harsh" OCing I put graphics cards through towards the end of my use of them. Also I figured it would buy me a couple of months down the road before I actually need to OC it myself. Total Parts Cost: ~$1275.00 Tell me what you guys think .
  18. "no hardware failure... but my hard drive is fucked up" lol.. sure it works, but you might as well replace that hard drive while you're at it. and don't sweat it. corsair's power supplies are top notch, so they'll either break within a month, or at the end of their life.
  19. This, but white.
  20. not remotely. i go through every possible measure to reduce the pain caused by reformatting and reinstalling my OS, but when i have to do so, it still takes hours and hours to set it back the way it needs to be.
  21. i know its not. whenever malwarebytes can't get rid of something, 99.99% of the time, deleting the user's profile gets rid of the malware entirely.
  22. thanks jager ol' buddy. always looking for more tools to use at work.
  23. what the fuck are you talking about pot? malwarebytes will remove it all, entirely free. all you get if you pay is a kernel level active scan, and this new "flash scan" they added in the most recent version. I wouldn't recommend it so vehemently if it didn't remove it all. I use it every day at work. Idk what i'd do without it.
