  12. A few of yours overlap with a few of mine. I smell a copycat!
  13. I don't hate them. I love the idea, in fact. It's just that the awards listed are rather pointless and don't qualify as awards to begin with. An award is something you've accomplished. I can go join a random forum right now and get a 3 year tag in 2013; no work on my part needs to be done. I don't know how the current award system is setup or how difficult it is to add them to users, but if 99% of the users qualify for an award, then that award should be thrown out. Awards should be rare and limited to a lucky few.
  14. Oh lawd

I broke up with my fiance, then-girlfriend of 3 years, for 6 months. I was fairly miserable but my friends helped me out. It happened in college, before Easter, and lasted until about my birthday. I stayed up in college for summer school while she was at home. We really didn't remain friends, I called her on her birthday, and hardly talked. I was too miserable/depressed to date other people and we eventually got back together. I don't remember much, I have a habit of completely blocking out all bad memories. Just don't do anything you would regret and don't do anything you wouldn't want him doing. If it's about getting married then hold it off. If he just wants some strange then slap him upside the face. I wish you the best of luck and keep an upbeat attitude. I hate to say it, but it'll be rough.
  15. Not all higher ups play the favoritism card. If the awards are voted on, then favoritism pretty much goes out the window. It's difficult to quantify most of the awards and the ones that are quantifiable are already listed next to the user's name. Also, even if the favoritism card is played, then wouldn't that mean the member be doing something right?
  16. They were just general ideas, obviously they'd need to be tweaked based on current data. The subjectively based awards shouldn't be an issue. If an AO+ sees that someone met that criterion, they could either hand it out or setup some vote for the rest of the AO+ staff to vote on. People that beg for it or are obviously whoring themselves for it wouldn't get it, hence the need for a subjective opinion.

  18. If the icons are to be shown on the posts, I'd like the ability to collapse/hide them. It adds more screen clutter. If they are awards, they should be for accomplishments, not their current position. Active years, total thanks, post count, reputation are all redundant since they are already displayed. Also, we have a top 20 donor badge, why make an award for it as well? While I like the concept, this was horribly planned. All of these 'awards' are completely redundant and not truly awards.
  19. You just said that so you can use her account to thank yourself. I'm on to your games.
  20. Yeah, it's a known issue. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything, but you can cause it to fall down and kill mostly everyone in their cells. Most of the time it just lands on top of the pool. Good stuff.
  21. Underbelly - We attack its weak spot for massive damage. Underbelly - We make the bad stuff look good. Underbelly - If we mention your product, it's going belly up. Underbelly - Because the only thing better than bacon, is nothing. Underbelly - We put you on a pedestal and then crap on it. Underbelly - Giving you the best of the worst. Underbelly - We are the weakest link. Underbelly - Making the dregs of society tolerable. Underbelly - Unoptimized, nonvisualized, determined e-thugs ranting bitterly. Egotistical lackies lamenting Y2K.
  22. Sorry, mate, I don't think you were an AO when I was around. Even if you were, it's because I don't like you, famz.
  23. I think some clarification is in order. As I said in a PM, no one put me up to this. Yes, my post does go into some conspiracy, and in hindsight, I would have left it out. Like I said below, I was originally going to rant but decided it'd be useless. The goal of the thread is to show that Beth is appreciated and that she is a valuable asset to the community. As I said before, I am not looking for information surrounding her demotion. I'm not asking for clarification. Thank you for unlocking the thread. If this had happened to Daze, Highsky, Amby, Tink, Mystique and Spartan, I would have done much of the same, probably to a different degree since I've only had limited contact with a few of them. That's not the point of the thread. The point is to give thanks to a member who served the community well. As I stated in my original post, I'm not looking for a reason as to why it happened and you are correct that what's done is done. But that does not take away from the fact that we can show our appreciation. How would you feel if you were in her shoes? I'd be pretty bummed out, thinking about leaving the community or not participating as much. If I saw a thread like this, it'd put a smile on my face and make me realize that I made a difference in someone's life, even if it's in some small, meaningless way. I prank called her a few times... does that count? Originally I was going to make a rant/complaint and then thought better of it. Unfortunately, I cannot change the subject of the thread. I thought I could, but it just changed the title of my original post. I'm definitely not outraged, just a little disheartened. Your first part rings true, and I do agree with Kennith below. She was, in my eyes, definitely active, but not more so than all others. I know that we could have simply sent her a PM or visitor message, but that's not what I was going for. Think of it as a virtual parade in her honor, if you will (Yes, I know that sounds utterly pathetic). I'm not getting worked up. I feel like I'm repeating myself and I only have myself to blame for the conflicting messages I brought up in the original post. The decision isn't going to affect my life at all; I simply am expressing empathy, something the majority of you seem to lack. I'm well aware that all decisions have a basis. I suppose I was irked because we were led to believe it was simply inactivity, which to anyone that isn't an AO+, or XeNo, thinks is not true. Like I stated in my OP and in many replies, I am not asking for information to be disclosed. I am not manipulating anyone into telling me what went down, it's none of my business and I'm just not that nosy. I understand that this thread may have some unintended consequences, and, frankly, I did not think about that. I'm not looking to stir up the community and have them start second guessing the higher ups, even though I alluded to that in my original post (which I regret). --- I understand my post seems to have mixed signals and it didn't exactly go the way I intended. I had absolutely no intention of causing any sort of uproar, which doesn't seem to be happening, and I had no intention of putting bad light on the higher ups, even though that contradicts what I originally posted. Look, all I'm trying to do is show a member of the community that they were respected and looked up to for what they did. My intentions were noble and I apologize if I upset any of the higher ups or caused any drama. Let's keep things civil and just appreciate the work this member has done. PS: After reading all of that I feel like a loon.
  24. I can't edit the subject, oh well. I was initially going to post a rant, but thought better of it. If an AO+ could please change the subject to 'In honor of one of our most respected members'. Thank you. Edit: Clicking 'Go Advanced' allows one to change the subject. Issue resolved.
  25. To think this hasn't been brought up yet in a more public matter saddens me. The point of this discussion is to discuss the dismissal of one of the most adored, respected, active members of our community. Of course, I am talking about Beth. While I obviously don't know the details surrounding her demotion, I feel, from what I have heard, that it is unjust and uncalled for. She has publicly claimed that it was due to inactivity. While I cannot vouch for her actions behind the scene as an AO and her participation in most AO related functions, I must note that she has always been available to assist me with any problems requiring an AO+. I'm not one to start a conspiracy theory, thinking she was tossed out on some bullshit technicality, but since there hasn't been a lot of public discourse, one can only assume. I also noticed that Killermidget was demoted to Legends as well. Obviously, that was warranted, since his forum account was inactive since 11/2009 (until recently when he popped into the chat box). Putting Beth in this same category is unjust and is a great loss to the community. I can understand if Beth was not participating at all in forum activities, server fixes/assists, player complaints and the likes. However, from an outsider looking in, it would appear that she was most definitely active in all areas that are visible to the SA's and below. When Paul was testing out 'Get to the choppa' on Escape, I needed No-Block put on. He assisted Beth in making that change, since she was never shown how. Not 2 days later, she was demoted. Maybe she told Paul to go fuck himself and do it himself since she didn't want to, maybe she royally screwed something up; we all know that is highly unlikely and certainly not the case. I'm not asking for an explanation, it's certainly none of my business. I just want to express my concern. She has stated that all she was told was that she was demoted due to lack of activity. Perhaps she was given more information and decided not to divulge it; that's certainly in her right. I'm also not asking for a revolt, nor do I expect one, but I ask that the members of the community she has so dedicatedly served, show their appreciation for her efforts and work as not only one of the most respected AO's of the community, but also as a member that went, I believe, beyond the call of duty to assist in a lot of matters. This is not a 'drunken' TheVirus thread, though I have been drinking (liquid courage). This is also not a thread for me to kiss Beth's ass; after all, what would be the point . I just want her to know that, even though she may not be an AO anymore, she's still a valuable member of the community. Thank you.
