  4. Ubuntu 10

I think he was talking about installing windows applications and such through wine, which can be a hassle
  5. All Points Bulletin, its a cop term for someone they want to arrest. It epic failed the first time around and is supposed to come back as a F2P game as APB: Reloaded
  6. Hmmm mayhaps I will have to take a look at APB reloaded after all....
  7. OpenGL isn't really more limited than Direct3D the main difference is that most games happen to use Direct3D. comparing DirectX to OpenGl though isn't entirely fair though because DirectX includes a number of other libraries that aren't part of OpenGL. Another thing you have to consider is that with DirectX is that you are tying yourself to Windows, whereas with OpenGL you can work on basically any modern OS.Though one further suggestion I make is that you look into using Java which you can do your development and then it works with either DirectX or OpenGL. With what you've said your goals are I really believe that any of the above would more than meet your needs but in the end its up to you and you're more comfortable with.
  8. best way imo is with compressed air. You really don't need to do it much, maybe once or twice a year.
  9. First off an LED monitor is an LCD, all LED means is that the backlight is an LED. This one is nice enough
  10. okay, first of all I recommend using the Tech support bucket subforum... but onto your actual problem, have you tried reseting the graphics card? sometimes its just not in all the way, and two have you tried using different PCIE power connectors? could be you're trying to draw too much from one rail or something dumb like that.
  11. Ubuntu 10

    Son I am disappoint
  12. well... I am yet again saddened, all of my favorite higher ups be leaving btw, I
  13. Ubuntu 10

I personally use linux for getting all my real work done and run windows on my desktop simply because I'm too lazy to get wine configured correctly, what can I say I'm a lazy bastard. Mint is better than Ubuntu. for the linux inclined if you like podcasts I recommend the linux action show from Jupiterbroadcasting
  14. =( I iz saddened by this news, but I do hope for the best for you in the future
  15. Will Napalm come back? Can I be admin? For Donators will we be going back to the way it was where you paid a monthly fee? 1- IDK. If members want it, it'll be back. 2- Why? 3- No. It'll remain the same....but will add 'affordable' methods so that we have more participants. Funding isn't a major issue atm....self-sustaining and growth is
  16. well... I....um... don't know how to react to this exactly.......:confused1: does this mean burn bitch burn will come back?
  17. Well, the toshiba has better hardware in every regard except the screen, that sony has a higher resolution which depending on how you roll could be a big plus. I know for me 1366X768 drives me crazy, the only reason I still have my Dell laptop is that it is a 1680X1050 screen.
  18. VGA

okay broski, right click on your desktop when you have your tv plugged into your laptop. Select the screen resolution option, this will open a new window which will give you options on how to configure the multiple displays, change it to extended. Now you can use both laptop and watch movies.
  19. Well I hope someone figures out how to hack this so you can get more cpu for less... wait isn't that amd?
  20. I was about to apply for this when I checked my steam rating and saw that it was only at 5, so lack of time there, and I also realized that I would probably fuck it up anyway.
  21. 1 GIG ISP?

My point isn't that checking your email is using more bandwidth but that people's use of the internet is changing and that doesn't constitute 'abuse'. Also I didn't mention this before but you don't just have to think about the bandwidth needed for one person but you have consider that a lot of the time people share internet connections, so the acceptable ten megabit connection you mention earlier just is inadequate when multiple people are doing what you call 'normal browsing' ( which I assume includes youtube and the like). You talk about speed being 'adjusted accordingly at the same rates' did you consider that in the 90s that wondering what people would actually use pentium IIs made perfect sense, nobody used computers like they do today because they couldn't do it. But as computers became more powerful people thought of what else they could do and made computers do it, by keeping internet speeds down you are accomplishing nothing but stifling innovation.
  22. 1 GIG ISP?

Well I've been avoiding replying to this thread as its a clone of one I already made =( I fee l I must reply now. You go on about how people don't need that much bandwidth go back to the 90s and you'll find a lot of people wondered what the normal consumer would ever do with the amazing speed of a pentium II. Now you're doing the same thing with bandwidth, something which individuals are continuing to consume more of. Just because people use more bandwidth doesn't mean they're abusing it, now a days you can stream HD video and the like something which more and more people are doing, which takes a lot of bandwidth. Its like having dial up now, yeah you can still go on facebook and stuff but in a few years the average internet use will have changed to the point where normal broadband speeds in the US of today really won't be adequate.
  23. Linky So yeah I want to move to Chattanooga now... The price is a bit steep at 350 at month, but when I consider that the fastest internet I can get on a consumer plan here in Maine is 7megabits/sec through my cable company for a $140 bill I think its a bargain.
  24. God damn
