  1. lol, I know nothing of laptops too, thats why I'm here... So I've set it to use the external display, currently that seems to be working so I guess I'll power down and remove the built in display and see if it still works, if not back to square one.
  2. Yeah I know but I decided against it because the computer isn't really worth the cost, if I were to go to a shop to do it they want $400, and the cheapest I could find the lcd panel for was about $250, which at either price it simply made more sense to buy a new laptop.
  3. So I have a couple year old HP Pavilion DV-9000 notebook, the built in display went bad a while back leading to me buying a newer laptop. Anyway now I've decided to set it up as an internet browsing/office and was wondering if I remove the built in display will it automatically move to the external display? I only ask because I've found that Vista will 'forget' what display I have it set to use now. Thanks for dealing with my stupidity.
  4. I hate you.
  5. That asus looks pretty nice. I would probably get it as it seems to be a good deal. I've had good luck with asus stuff BTW, I'm typing this on my ASUS laptop right now never had a problem with it. Unlike the HP and Dells which I've had that died rather quickly. The one thing with the ASUS you might want to look into is that gpu, I'm not really familiar with it but if its like every other intel gpu (gma w/e) I've dealt with it will probably suck. So if your really serious bout playing some games on you laptop that toshiba would probably be better, plus the toshiba has a bigger hard drive.
  6. review over at Tom's Hardware
  7. Are you trying to use the audio connectors on the front of your system or the back? It could be some wires came loose when you moved it, try the audio connectors on the back if you haven't.
  8. I have an Logitech M500 and love it.... I've never touched a G5 or G9 so I really can't comment on their virtues.
  9. So I just turned my laptop on, it went normally enough until right before grub boot loader came up at which point my laptop began making this weird squealing noise. I, of course, hit the power button shutting off my computer. I then restarted and about the same time it started making the same noise. But this time I continued with the boot up, once my computer loaded windows 7 the noise stopped, and I'm typing this on my laptop right now. So any ideas what could be making this noise? All I got is either hard drive or fan? Any other ideas? If you think its the hard drive, how long do you think I have?
  10. I agree with Dark Torcher on this. 32bit will be around for a few more years at least, seeing as its the norm for all of the low end machines on the market today. By low end machines I'm referring to the whole netbook thing along with those cheapo emachines (and the like) people buy at walmart.
  11. Basically my friend wants me to upgrade his computer and I was wondering is it worth putting a radeon HD 5770 in it if it only has a AMD Athlon II X4 630, or should I upgrade the processor as well?
  12. You have to be careful, we don't want to break his self esteem!

Why not just build a normal sized pc? I don't get it...
  15. Yeah the settings on physics have been change or something so now there is rampant teamkilling with any object that can be moved, and recently the cts have started to shoot objects at ts and freekilling them. The admins currently present aren't even trying to stop the freekilling/teamkilling
