Ok so I just went ahead and changed my signature and tried links from both imgur/gyazo. They both worked find. If you take a look at the link you posted, that isn't a link directly to the image. you have to make sure the url uncludes something like .jpg .gif .png. Otherwise, you will get the image 404 instead. (Normally you do this by right clicking on the image you want and select copy image address

I don't believe so. If I read it right, it searches for the .(period) in a name and uses that to know where it needs to cut off
