Yeah so, again you kinda just jumped in so only so much you're gonna see of the situation...but that was literally the first I'd seen of it being an issue. I've also seen friends of his make the eye jokes A LOT, tbh didn't even know the full story and it just seemed like an inside joke so it was always left alone. I'd imagine a lot of IA+ would be in the same boat, hard to enforce something when it all appears to be an inside joke among friends until told otherwise. I respect your sentiments of just being decent and thinking people shouldn't make fun of others disabilities, but in a similar real world scenario we are really being asked to be the teachers here at this point. Groups of people here want to be very exclusive and separate in a way that essentially makes a student teacher relationship where we are stuck playing catch up half the time and really do need to be given information if someone has a problem. A shitty unfortunate reality both in school/life/SG but yeah not everyone is gonna see that xyz is struggling with something, especially here where people go from serious -> joking -> trolling -> serious in a matter of 3 seconds or less. Call it what you will, age difference...generation difference...friend group difference....but there are people here in the reg and staff that just want to have talks like this and expect that everyone is capable of voicing *some kind of opinion* if they care to have one. I really don't believe that the people making fun of him were the ones he could have complained to, and being a BD for like 1.5 years now I can tell you it was never in any fucking capacity coming from the BD level where he could have absolutely gone if it was an issue.

Hot fucking take. Previous measures to prevent this have obviously not gone well, but yeah we see this problem as well and are definitely done putting up with that. It was perhaps a misstep to try and not just completely shut down this behavior in the hopes of both getting something constructive out of it and also not ejecting more community members (staff or otherwise) unnecessarily.

This just shows how horribly misconstrued the situation is. First off, no one ever threw a fit so please stop throwing around that phrase as if the one who got harassed is doing something childish rather than the children trying to poke fun at someone they don't know purely for their own entertainment. Your (and I assume others) entire justification is based on it being a small thing and his initial reaction, so lets clear some shit up. He initially responded fine and only really got into it when he was pushed and pinged several times and asked to justify why he didn't want some random guy he didn't know pinging him, all in all a completely ridiculous interaction. Since then, its turned into something akin to rebelling against the man, where mentioning Banana Joe is edgy and cool and you're gonna do it because no one can stop you...after all it's just a name you're not breaking any rules. If anyone, anywhere can explain to me how that is anything but childish and give me a reason to why you have to mention his name at all I'd love to hear it. That is really what it comes down to, no one for any reason has to mention the guy but people want to continue to do it because its funny/edgy/rebellious. You want to be able to do it because it isn't against the rules, its just annoying and childish and you don't want to be told you can't be that way.

You clearly came in at a bad time, so apologies for that, but there is no need to correlate that to the norm. You're right to say the welcoming atmosphere is gone, but you're sort of pointing the finger wrong here. The only staff vs regular conflicts that have caused any sort of big issue and divide and subsequently caused regs to move to their own discord is that people want to be trolls and assholes and call it fun, which unironically works directly against creating any sort of welcoming environment. The 'lets have fun' and 'we're just a gaming community' often comes out of the mouths of people who want to inherently be trolls with no regard for some simple fucking human decency. Your definition of 'running this place like they get paid millions for it' is just a group of adults who have more than an ounce of maturity. Even the realones was the subject of getting sort of pushed out in the past for being too trolly, but then half of them grew up a little bit and actually became worthwhile members of the community (mostly). I respect what you're digging at here, I just think you gotta be careful correlating one thing into the next.

The regular SG logo was lost until this very moment when you pinged Caution and Gator who of course are around and paying attention to this place and your pings specifically as an important member of this community and it's history. The regular logo has now been restored.

Eh it's really just BR streaming privately to a group of friends. It's possibly a slight grey area, but nothing that would get the discord taken down. Worst case they'd just slap BRs account or fine her, which she accepts the risk of. Also who cares about BR...

I plan to watch this, saw the trailer from some ranking of new shows movies or whatever...looks really good and unique.

Please enjoy this music while you read. This promotion is a little unique in the fact that it is all returning staff members, all of whom have been around for a long time. Boomer jokes aside, they have all put in tons of effort into keeping this place running over the years. The board wants to show that we are taking time and making the right moves to address what we believe to be problems within the community, and it starts with these promotions. These three gentlemen have the time, energy, and vision to help get us back on track in terms of player activity, platform management, and forward movement.
