  1. I usually do a movie marathon with my kids. I try to pick out a series of movies they haven't seen, but that I don't mind watching with them. We have a ton of food/snacks, invite the cousins over and just hang out with family.
  2. It was a long time ago, but it was definitely a life changing moment. I don't think about it too often anymore, but it does effect how I look at safety and life in general. I talk to the brother all the time. He's married and has 3 kids of his own now. But it took him several years to get his life back on track after that. The group of us no matter where we are or what is going on share a bond that can't really be explained to people that weren't there.
  3. Don't stress about your options at this point. Focus on graduating with good enough grades to get into various Universities and then when the time comes weigh your options and decide which school you want to attend. At this point in your life almost nothing is a "life sentence" your path will change many many times. Also don't stress deciding what area you want to study or have a career in yet. It's hard to find solid statistics but generally speaking students who start college/university having already selected a Major will change that major an average of 3-5 times. Students who start college/university undecided on what Major only end up changing 1-2 times. Explore your interests and if you can't find the classes you wanted to take now, branch out and see what else there is to learn now. The only limitations that we truly have are the ones we impose on ourselves.
  4. XMAS GG

Rather than demand in this way why not... What can I do to help set this up (that is if those with authority are going to approve this?) No seriously... I'll help out any way I can.
  5. I never really talk about things like this. But her we go. In 1993 right after my senior year in high school me and a group of close friends went camping and decided to go cliff diving the next morning. We drove up to a reservoir that had a well known good place for diving. The problem was the place to park was on the opposite side of the lake. We decided to swim across in small groups. We were sitting on the top of the cliff as the last two started swimming across. About 1/2 way across Aaron started screaming and struggling to keep his head above water. The person he was paired with was also having a hard time and barely made it across. Dave and I dove in and tried but failed to make it to him in time. I can still see his arms shoot straight up into the air and then disappear into the water every time I think about it. Divers found him 175 ft down on the peak of an underwater ridge. They said had he gone any further down they probably never would have found his body. The hardest part was after we dove repeatedly looking for him and had to swim back to shore ourselves, his younger brother who at this point was hysterical tried to go back in the water after him (it was probably about 20 minutes or more since he'd gone under). Knowing that he wasn't a great swimmer and that it was too late we had to hold back our friend who'd just watched his older brother and hero die tears running down our faces wondering if he would understand why we held him back and whether or not he could ever forgive us.
  6. Thanks! I appreciate the sentiment. I haven't been nearly as active as I would like to be for some time now. RL can do that to you. But SG will always be my online home and anything I can do to help keep it around I will.
  7. XMAS GG

I would love to see the seasonal GG server back up this year. We can't seem to keep it populated on a regular basis, but it does well in short stints.
  8. EDC!

I wont' be going, because I'm boring as fuck and I just got a bill for $4k to cover hearing aids for my kid that the insurance says is not covered.
  9. I've always felt that the less that is done "Behind the curtain" or whatever you want to call it the better. Full disclosure leaves much less room for problems than hiding things does. Not that I feel that SG has been hiding anything to begin with. But this leaves less room for hearsay and also can help the applicant (if they are open minded) learn what needs to be improved. If you can't be man/woman enough to say how you feel to my face that your opinion is useless to me. Own up to what you think and say about someone. I have no problem telling each member of SG what I do or don't think of them. I have to question the integrity of people who feel the need to hide behind some sort of anonymity. It's part of they reason my forum name, Steam name, etc. haven't changed for years. I appreciate when people are willing to call me out on bullshit because I am a better person for it.
  10. Congrats! I have a new nephew born the same day.
  11. Miss me?

Long time no see... and he's gone again. YOUR MOM IS LEGENDARY!
  12. SG Roast

YES! (If only I had recorded GreenBastard destroying Obez) I think this is a great idea.
  13. Having been involved in many meetings as a CA back in the day I can say that it takes more than 1 or 2 admins with a grudge to perm ban someone. And many perm bans have been overturned if the person has cleaned up their act and comes back with the right attitude. It seems like (and I could be wrong) you aren't happy because a friend of yours fucked up and now can't play on the servers you want to play on. When reviewing bans to make them perm or reviewing appeals the bigger picture is always taken into account. Sure bans on servers of other communities don't directly affect SG, but if a person appeals and has been out racking up bans elsewhere while they were banned from SG you can't expect that not to make people wonder about the maturity of a person. It definitely doesn't make us think they won't come back and continue to do the things that go them banned in the first place. Yes, coming off of a ban is another chance to clean up your act. 3 major bans is generous. Much more lenient that most communities are. 6+ bans and how can you expect us to let someone keep causing problems. Part of why people stick around a community like SG is because we kick the trash out. Also as far as mixing up the Admins. People become an admin because they have proven that they can be trusted. They can also receive strikes against them and have admin rights removed based on abuse or negative behavior as an admin. So a "Admin Shakeup" won't solve anything, it would just put people that haven't proven themselves in as admin and remove those who have proven themselves. I'm against both changing the ban system & an admin shakeup.
  14. Brasil! Hands down, without second thought to anywhere else. I've traveled plenty, and I wouldn't rather be anywhere else. Of course it doesn't hurt that I also speak Portuguese. The women are stunning, the food fantastic, the people awesome. I've been working on moving down there or at least making a change in employment that would allow me to spend more time down there. I was in Rio for the month of May and almost didn't come back.
  15. Congratulations

Congrats... I guess... Man my PPD has tanked over the last few months.
  16. Congrats to All!
  17. ohay

Modgers! I haven't played much ZE lately due to RL. It has changed, but the right people still make it fun from time to time. How have you been?
  18. I've followed Brazilian soccer ever since 94 when I first lived there. Gotta say it's good to see the Selecão play to their potential. The last cup was a pretty sad showing compared to what they are capable of. Too bad I had to come back here before the Confederation cup, I was at Maracanã - Rio in May.
  19. Sure, but it doesn't need it's own thread. In the effort to keep the forums clean and friendly the less one off threads the better. He's not saying you did anything terrible or wrong... just that maybe look for a place that it fits before starting a new thread.
  20. Huwas Ass

You should know better than to listen to him!
  21. Congrats to all - Well deserved as well as needed.
  22. CONGRATULATIONS! As much work as kids are I LOVE being a dad. It's been awhile since I've seen you around. Too bad you had to show up while I'm in Brasil! (That's right I'm in RIO and still seem to find a few minutes to check in) Well congrats again and hope you are able to be around a bit more. -Itch
  23. That´s right without much advanced planning I hopped a plane and am writing this from RIO! I´ll post pics later, but I love Brazil and if any of you get the chance to travel I couldn´t recommend a better place to go. As you can probably guess I won´t be in game much for the next few weeks. (still not sure if/when I´m going home). Peace, - ITCH
  24. Fold, for sure. But this doesn't fix the problem of the quality of paper being similar in texture to sand paper. Thickness is easy to fix, but ass chafing harsh paper isn't.
