  1. It's a good upgrade. But I'd still go with the Ryzen system, tbh. I wouldn't go with an Intel system, atm. Intel is bringing out a new cpu and chipset based on socket 1151 real soon. Intel is also bringing out a completely new socket aswell at the end of the year. You get 2 more cores, 3x the number of threads, more L3 cache and better multi-thread support. That 1600 is a lot better choice price/performance wise than Intel. Advice coming from and Intel fan.
  2. A Ryzen system would probably be the best choice for your budget. An i7 K SKU and Z270 mobo with RAM is going to set you back a lot more. Something like this. http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/1044/8119030043.png Aftermarket cooler is not necessary, the boxed Wraith Spire coolers are good enough.
  3. Skylake does support DDR3. Gigabyte, ASRock and even Asus have B150 chipset boards that support DDR3 RAM. It's Kaby Lake that doesn't support DDR3 modules. @TS: Tbh, you don't really need to spend a lot more on so called 'upgrades'. Just get the same RAM you already have and upgrade to 16GB. You don't really need to update anything else. Your problems are probably something else that's causing it. Your PC is fine as is. The FPS you're getting is high enough for smooth gameplay.
  4. Get a 29" Ultra wide instead. I have an LG 29UM68 and I really love it. Best monitor I ever had. 27" really sucks for 1080p resolution. Great for gaming, but bad for anything else, due to the low pixel density you would get blurry pixels. Best size for 1080p resolution is 24" or 29" ultra wide. As a 29" is the same height as 24" but wider. So best advice is, get a 29" as your main and a 24" as you secondary. Here's a pic of my 29" Ultra wide.
  5. OnePlus 3. Best phone I've ever had.
  6. How are you using DDR3 RAM with a DDR4 motherboard? That's not possible. Did no one else notice this when you looked at his spec list?
  7. PSU is alright. Great for a starting PC, tho, he'll probably won't be doing crazy OC'ing, not even possible with that CPU and the GPU doesn't need OC'ing. If he wants to change to a better one, he could, but again not necessary. If he wants to upgrade to a cheap but great PSU he could get the newer Corsair CX750M PSU. The newer version one with the grey and black sticker, those are great. That GPU is a really great choice, tbh. Can run everything on 1080p maxed out at 80+ fps without any issues. I had one and it devoured everything I threw at it and then some. The only nvidia card that performs a bit better is the GTX1060, but is quite expensive and has less VRAM. Which isn't worth it as he has a great card for future games. @TS: great first PC build with solid components, you won't be disappointed. Although you would need some good airflow in that case as the R9 390 is a hothead.
  8. I have the same ones, but wireless and in black. great headset for its money.
  9. The AMD Vega cards are going to be really good, if I have to believe the recent anouncements. First cards with 8GB HBM2 memory. While nvidia is still using GDDR5X, which the 2000 refresh series also will have. I'm probably going to switch back to AMD if the price is good, so I can finally use the FreeSync option on my monitor.
  10. Added some Mayhems UV Clear Sky Blue dye to my loop. Looks amazing under UV light.
  11. EVGA GTX 1070 SC with EKWB EK-FC1070 GTX waterblock.
  12. Recently built this monster.
  13. What do you want to do with the PC? Cuz $400 isn't a lot. You'd probably have to buy secondhand components.
  14. Thanks . Yeah, took me a while to get everything connected and running flawlessly. Had a few minor leaks but could fix it straight away. I will definately enjoy it. My previous PC lasted me 6 years, so this one would probably last me a lot longer. CPU is running @4.2GHz and GPU is still stock, because it's a bad OC'er cuz of the Micron VRAM. But It still boosts to around 2000MHz in-game. Which is pretty good.
  15. Mine is a Toshiba 256GB NVMe M.2 SSD aswell. But it's hidden behind the Chipset block. So that way you won't see the ugly green PCB. Didn't need a GTX1080 as I only gaming on a 29" 1080p Ultra-wide. But I mut say the temps are really amazing. CPU in-game doesn't go over 34°C and GPU doesn't go over 31°C.
  16. Spent around €3000 for everything. Nope, it's a custom hardtube loop that I made myself. True the monoblock isn't something that is used a lot. But I thought that a €600 motherboard needed a monoblock And because the PLX chips apparently get quite hot on this motherboard aswell, so I didn't want to risk it. This is the complete spec list of everything. 17. Finished my new PC a few days ago. Thoughts?
  18. Apple V Android

Android Phone. Cuz I don't like getting ripped off and pay more for Apple products, just cuz they have a half eaten Apple logo on the back, it's not justified to pay €300 more.
  19. You can't really compare those cards to one another. The price of the GTX1070 is a lot higher than the 380 and it's also a lot newer. The R9 380 is still a great card and should give great performance with a newer system, with PCIe 3.0 support like it should have. As the AM3+ chip doesn't support that. If he gets a new Skylake upgrade with the GTX 1070 the card will boost all the way up to 2000Mhz easily. With a new Skylake CPU your performance and fps will go up. The 5 year old AMD chip is kind of lacking in gaming nowadays, tbh. There are quite a few people that had AMD and switched to Intel because of it. You could upgrade to an i5-6600K they're $100 cheaper than the i7 and do great for only gaming. An i7-5820K + motherboard + RAM will set you back a lot more than just $550. A 5820K costs new around $450 and mobo with X99 chipset cost min. $250 for a basic X99 board. This combo costs around $420 on newegg atm, due to the sales. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117561&ignorebbr=1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83UF6114&ignorebbr=1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226745&ignorebbr=1 Similar components but with an i7-6700K costs around $520. If I were you I'd get the i5 and save the rest for a new GPU next year if you really want to upgrade everything. The R9 380 is still a great card and would give you a great performance boost in combination with the Skylake setup. You don't really have to upgrade your GPU just yet. The 380 and i5 Skylake setup should give you a stable ±70fps on 1080p in BF1, e.g. Or you can grab this one as an upgrade, this card would give you around 80fps on BF1 maxed out. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA65C4Z97980&ignorebbr=1 Total cost: $670 What are the rest of your specs? Something seems a bit lacking to give you the performance you'd normally get with a GTX1070. Cuz I get around 100fps in BF1, all maxed out, with my i7-3930K @4.2GHz and GTX 1070 on 1080p Ultra-wide.
  20. Yeah they're really great. I bought the SC because the FTW has a custom PCB and there are no waterblocks available only for reference PCB's, which the SC has. Unfortunately there have been some issues with some cards catching fire and overheating some parts on the cards. So a custom fan profile is necessary, so 60% for 60°C should be good. Just don't go under 40%. Although mine doesn't seem to have any issues on air.
  21. Got one aswell I got an EVGA GTX1070 SC It really performs awesome, especially for it's price. In BF1 I constantly got +90fps on maxed out settings on 1080p Ultra-wide. While temps are really low. Atm I'm still on air my card only goes up to 58°C, doesn't go over it. Trust me it is definately worth it the upgrade from a 960. Even a GTX1060 is a huge upgrade.
  22. Which PC to Get?

Seeing as nobody really can give you any decent hardware advice. But a few maybe. No offense but don't post your own older motherboards, you'll confuse him even more that way. I made an edit of your list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cL3tWX Not sure if it's saved or not. I added a screenshot just in case: http://i.imgur.com/S2j9CkW.jpg I changed the H110 motherboard to a more decent motherboard designed for Overclocking, the GIGABYTE GA-Z170-HD3P is a great choice for it's price. It's a standard OC motherboard with USB3.1, M.2 SSD slot and few gimmicks more. Changed your RAM to 2x8GB DDR4-2400. As 8GB is a minimum but some games like BF1 require more RAM. As mine goes all the way up to 11GB usage. Thankfully I have 32GB Anyways moving on. Also changed the GPU to a MSI GTX1060 OC 6GB. Basic card with good cooling and enough VRAM. 3GB is way too low for AAA titles on high or Ultra settings. Which is certainly possible with the GTX1060. Single fan cards are only useful for smaller mini-ITX builds with tiny cases. other than that a double fan lay-out is always better. Don't need anything more expensive. Also changed the shit EVGA PSU to a better EVGA 550W Gold rated PSU. Much safer when Overclocking. You'll thank me later. All the other components are good.
  23. New case and new GPU. Also got some new Noctua 120 and 140 iPPC 2000 PWM fans. Case is Corsair Obsidian 450D and GPU is EVGA GTX1070 SC ACX 3.0. Plan on doing a full custom loop. But it's been put on hold till Kaby Lake comes out.
  24. With that budget you can buy an AMD RX 480 or nvidia GTX 1060.
