  1. BC2 Server

Do you want me to get an EU server set ? Might help in expanding SG user-base in Europe...no ? I can get it done in matter of hrs if you decide.
  2. BC2 Server

Server Maintained by [sG] Harry and SG BC2 Server - 63.251.20.80:19567 That is all. If it becomes active, we retain it. Simples... Enjoy!
  3. He secretly loves you...
  4. Lame.

I took over on the nite of 28th Feb. Remember ? I did not own SG until then (Garf did)....so couldn't possibly sell it to anyone on 25th itself, can I ? Therefore, considering all the facts, fuck off, and take your drama elsewhere.
  5. IDK, I always set myself as invisible, since I'm here mostly for backend work. So, just dont want to seem like ignoring people....

  6. Ohh, but I am...

There's only 3 things I love. Me, myself and I. But me's my fav.

  7. The new donation system is being tweaked and set up, and will be online in next 24 hrs. EDIT: Donation system is live.
  8. One thing I intend to do at SG, is to have a long term sustainability and growth plan. I know some of you might be thinking I'm driving this community towards being a business. I'm not. I've seen enough plenty forums go down the hill due to lack of funds, resources or any sort of growth. SG was within 24 hrs of being shut down by iweb, and that is an unthinkable scenario for a community as big as this. SG is set to grow. By growth, I do not mean merely in numbers. I don't really believe in stats, since they are misleading. By growth, I mean having better in-house features, better and more active gaming servers, better gaming experience, sustainability, and a bigger audience to interact with. We will continue with the same donation (now called Supporter) system, similar price....but more features and perks in return. Paul will soon be introducing a series of goodies to interest you (all his idea, mind you). We will be setting a target for each month in contributions. That target will include the expenses incurred in running SG, as well as costs for custom development to enhance the site/gameplay. Any surplus of donations will be carried as a running total, even though the monthly goal will remain the same. Thus if we are doing things right for you guys, we should have money building up to run monthly competitions, start customly scripting all our servers (hiring sourcemod coders) and any other imrpovements that can be made such as server upgrades. To make sure we make full use of the contributions, we will be enhancing our donation module and implement a more automated and transparent system. All transactions will be publicly logged, and all expenses explained. We do not make a profit. Any surplus money will be put to good use and spent in order to better the community. The PayPal account we will use will be operated by Paul, or any other capable staff member. But certainly not me. Finally, to answer a very genuine query you might have. Many of the members might be thinking - "why on earth Amit spent thousands of dollars to acquire SG, if he did not want to earn from it". TBH, not every site in my network is meant to generate a profit for me. A community like SG is a brand in itself, and helps in more ways than one by just having it in the portfolio. Also, I am not a selling owner, and it is not my intention to sell SG to make some quick buck.
  9. Yeah, I can do tht. Strangely, someone else suggested me the same thing as well. What is the major difference ?
  10. Had a few options..really. In this part of the world, there are only certain things one can get on a credit. I had a superior configuration for the same price (similar to the ones mentioned in this thread), but I was asked to pay cash for the material. With Dell, I can pay in 24 months.... I did. Unfortunately, I realized that even though I could get a superior configuration, I was unable to get any credit since it'd have to be locally assembled, and required cash. Infact, one of the configuration I was offered for the same price I paid for the Dell was near to the ones suggested in this thread. Apart from a couple of parts, most of the other items were available in India.
  11. I finlly ordered my PC today. I could not go for an assembled one, since it would have meant paying lots of cash.....whereas my idea was to use my credit. So, Dell it is.... Processor i7-960 3.2Ghz O/S W7Ultimate-64 Bit Memory 12GB DDR3 HDD 500GB x 2 Video card -Dual 1792MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260 - SLI Optical drive Blu-ray Disc Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CDw/dual layer capability) Screen AW2210 21.5” Full HD Widescreen Monitor
  12. IDK...I worked on my dads macbook, and though it feel slick in the beginning, it was a bit too 'sophisticated' for my liking. It might just be my personal preference, combined with my inability to take care of a laptop...that I now prefer to work on a desktop.
  13. Ohh..I still don't take part in any decision making process. The red color is just for me to be able to access admincp and do the techy stuffs.

ofcourse I'm still the 'owner' and oversee the developments daily. But I don't interfere or play a part in running the site on a daily basis.

    Thanks for asking though :)

  14. Whoa....no need to fight....or argue. I appreciate all the suggestions really. My budget is ~3.5-4k , since it's going to be a one-off buy....and I will not be looking to upgrade the system for the next 1-2 yrs.. As I said, I'll be paying this is very easy installments, so it wont hurt my pocket. Prices for the components are very similar in India to what they are in the west....so, please take this ballpark figure and suggest a PC configuration. Thanks.. EDIT: Polka, I'm not looking for a laptop. I find it a bit difficult to handle the touchpad all the time
  15. Back? Where did I go ? :-)

  16. I don't think they ship to India. However, I can buy the stuff from vendors here as well, as long as I know the specs.
  17. I plan to join you guys on CSS from next month onwards. Now, I cannot play on my Mac or the laptops, since those are configured for work. So, I'll be buying a new PC for gaming and other stuff. So, plz suggest me your dream configuration for a PC I should opt for..... How is this Alienware @ Dell ? Or am I better off with an assembled system ? Price won't matter since I'm most likely to take it on credit and pay over a period of many many months ( including a few defaults on payment )
  18. Over the past few days, I tried to do my best to try and bring new ideas into SG. We upgraded to VB4, got a new logo, new skin, new icons .... some new modules.... fixed the bugs.....added a new dedi server with 18 IPs......restructured the ranks etc etc. But it seems I'm not cut for this job. It probably requires different sets of ideas to grow a steam gaming community. And for someone who knows nothing abt CSS and the emotions of this community, I am a bad choice to run SG. So. I will stop interfering with anything that goes on at SG. It will be life as usual, and Paul will be the new admin/President. He will run the show...and take all major decisions. Think of it as Paul being the new owner, and I don;t exist anymore. I'll still be around....taking care of the finances and occasional chatting with Paul and co. Charles, will continue (or not) on his individual capacity. It is entirely up to him. As for the plans for SG I posted......those are deemed obsolete and hereby removed. The new administration will decide a fresh approach...similar to the one before Garf and me. It's a good time for SG to be run by SG elites....and become self-sustainable... As for me, I'll be available through email and occasionally via Steam. I'll support SG in my individual capacity......but will leave the day-to-day working to you guys.
  19. What's new at SG

The list will be reviewed and finalized/implemented by the new administration. I expect them to open this thread and further the discussion here. I'll be available for any sort of help whenever required.
  20. Thx mate for the new logo. Absolutely love it...

  21. Alright...i've worked on SG for 12 hrs straight. This is wht we have managed to do so far - 1- Upgrade SG to VB4 2- Install the new skin (minus the logo and status icons) 3- Set up servers page linked to the forum directly - http://www.steam-gamers.net/forum/servers.php 4- Set up Arcade - http://www.steam-gamers.net/forum/arcade.php 5- Set up GamerTags to be displayed in your profile page as well as postbit. Edit it here - http://www.steam-gamers.net/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile 6- Set up new shoutbox 7- Added forum page (to be renamed to something better) for admin applications. 8- New Smiley Pack 9- VBSEO is installed. Will be enabled in a few hrs. These are SEO-friendly url redirection. 10- Ran a forum wide maintenance VB4 was key here. Things were promised when I took over......and it was vital that we have visible changes for the good. I hope we can put down any remaining skepticism to rest.... ------------------------- In the next few days, we will - 1- Set up new logo/status icons. 2- Add a new homepage 3- Add custom ban page 4- Add more static pages, as in the previous site 5- Add a scrim league 6- Add a Legend Usergroup 7- Start monthly contests /w prizes 8- Add forum rules, and appoint forum moderators. Yes, you can be banned, thread banned and kicked from the chatbox now if you don't behave. 9- Set up new donation system 10- Set up application form for SAs , as well as list the entire modus operandi to select them. 11- Add banners for SG so that other sites can link to us. 12- Add a paid membership system with added feature (no paid-4-admin ...sorry) 13- Add 1-2 new dedi servers and new games. 14- Add a ticket system to deal with bans, appeals and other support issues. 15- Restructure the forums and make it bit more compact than it is now. 16- Add apps for iPhone / android and BB 17- Add restrictions for new members while using PMs, posting links etc. 18- Set up the usergroup permissions and a separate page to explain each usergroup type. 19- Finalize roles for each top ranked member, so that SG runs smoothly and efficiently 20- Finalize plans for monetization to generate more revenue at SG
  22. I think it's time to move on....so I'll lock this thread and pretend this never happend, and we can go back to discussing how to improve SG. But before I do, let me just thank Garf for one last time, for the opportunity he gave me to manage such a community. You, in your own way, spent time and money to keep SG afloat. For that, I hope everybody, including the ones who trash you (primarily for not promoting them as SAs) thank you sincerely. Yes, you made mistakes, sometimes blunders...you were not perfect...yada yada.... who the fuck is perfect anyways ? No one still has the right to question your contribution towards SG. ..... absolutely no one. Advertising your flaws do NOT take away the fact that you did your bit when it was most needed. I hope you take care of yourself, your family and health....and I wish you the best of luck in you future endeavors.
  23. What on Earth..... It's become a gay parade here. Someone needs to close thisi thread. Ohh..hang on...
  24. The links actually showed the preview in flash. The site will not be in flash. Infact, have a look at the coded version of one of the skin at http://www.sportgfx.com . It's not finished yet, but you'll have an idea.
