I'm pretty sure GF would like to consider that possibility. Infact, if the majority wants it, I can try and persuade him....or you could just take it from me directly. The bottomline is, I try my best to go with what the members want. Running a forum against the will of the majority is never a smart idea.... Ooohh...PR. Tell me abt it.... People wanted to know more abt me.....and I was telling them. I don't really need to go on a forum posting campaign really.....

I can assure you that the amount is much more significant than 2.5k ... I'm not sure if I have the liberty to release that info, since it is a private matter concerning GF.

Honestly.....the site still belongs to GF ... and I'm just hoping that the deal goes through smoothly. I can't possibly do anything if GF suddenly decides not to sell....or finds some other buyer. I'm sure whatever he does, will be in the best interest of the forum. It's not like I'm the one offering the highest amount...

He has not yet 'sold' anything..... It's still in the process, and I hope he doesn't change his mind. I run politicalhotwire.com and a few other political forums. I learn a lot ... and I learn quickly.

You know, a different choice of words will make it sound more acceptable. Instead of thinking that GF 'sold' you all, think of it as if he forfeited his position as an owner, and an incredibly handsome young admin called Amit took over with great new ideas to make SG an even better place. :-)

There will be the moderators and server admins as well... One thing we do not want, are advisors. Why do we need that rank when we should be listening to the members directly about their needs and complaints. Just my two cents.... Glad you asked. There will be donors, people who can 'afford' a greater sum...as it is now. So yes, they will retain the status for now... In the future, we are planning to introduce a simpler system which is cheaper/affordable ... something like $1/mo sort of thing. Spam is wonderful..isn't it ?

lol..I thought it's because I own furryforum.com and was planning to develop it. I was wondering how the hell did anybody knew Yeah, there needs to be a set protocol to be appointed as a mod/admin or any higher rank. It is quite extraordinary that it's not implemented on such an active forum..... Ranks should not just be handed over like candies. It should be synonymous with respect and responsibility, and only a few shall deserve it.

Many will not agree with me, but a good design will go a long way into growing this community. We probably don't want an intense skin like the gamerstalk one ..... what we need is a design like steampowered.com .... dark/professional/exclusive/user-friendly and inviting. Something like you wanted...for VB4. While there WILL be changes, it is always advisable to take lots of time to implement them, else we run the risk of a major fuck-up. Nothing will be achieved in a short duration..... We'll add more servers, more games....and before that, we'll make sure that the admins are given a set of protocols. They will be provided with their own section on the site (not forum) to interact and manage better. And yes, there WILL be a system to evaluate admins. We're already in CSS/Gmod/Minecraft....and I'm hoping to add Garry's mod, Deathrun ...and whatever you guys demand. I'll soon form an Official SG Gaming Server Team.... comprising of the top experts at SG, and decide the source of action in a few days. I can add n number of servers anytime you want....but what we don't want is empty servers with no players on it. Finally, the 'monetization' part. In the longer run, I would want the site to generate a sufficient revenue to fund itself to grow even more. It will require non-intrusive ads (which disappear when you log in), sponsored contests , sponsored inter-site tournaments, member donations and premium membership (if we ever implement it).

Not decided yet..... My target is to try and lower the burden on the members, and let them enjoy the game, while I make sure we generate the revenue from elsewhere without disturbing the peace on the forum.

No No ... there won't be a clean-out. It would be disrespectful on my part if I do that..... If and when we implement a new system, it'll probably be renaming the usergroup , merging/moving ranks, reassigning permissions and stuff. But any member who has a rank due to his/her contribution to SG, will retain the position. It's just that the name of the rank will change to make more sense.....

I look at it this way - There will be an Official Server Team for SG . Select members with lots of experience in dealing with servers will be appointed in it. It'll be a small and powerful team which will be the backbone of the server-side of this community. They'll be the official representative of SG who can help invite new players. There will be a forum moderation team as well....who will also have server admin permissions. Finally, there will be server admins as usual. I hope I'm clear enough. Please know that these are tentative plans, and nothing is finalized until we discuss it with the staff and members in the coming few weeks.

Site will remain in USA ... Current gaming servers will be retained, and we'll try to add new servers based across the world to cater to a global audience. See, I'll not play 'owner' and dish out promotions and demotions. Running a community is complex, and it is always advisable to have a simple and efficient structure. You'll agree with me when I say that the current structure will fall apart when/if we grow to a larger audience. So, we'll have simplified structure, with generic names and set duties. You'll not 'lose' your role, instead it'll be defined properly and probably renamed to make more sense.

We'll move the site (just the site) to a dedicated server, keep the current gaming servers, and any new addition will be on new set of gaming servers. Changing the IPs will not be productive at this stage...and the move should be over a period of time.
