  1. Not even a review, just an advertisement. I still like my IC Diamond, and mx-2 works well enough.
  2. NOW you've got a wierd problem. Is one or the other wireless, if so which and what other wireless signals could be interfering (or physical obstructions), and if none are wireless do you have the two plugged into USB ports next to each other on the case.
  3. Are they both wireless?
  4. If you're on a 21" or better just up the DPI and go to desktop properties to raise the size of a few other things everything will stay the same size but you'll just have more space.
  5. Supporter's a paying customer with the possibility to upgrade to admin after a while, member->regular->honorable gamer is the progression of non-paying losers people in the community
  6. Yeah pick something that costs right about $20 and has SATA, and for harddrives try to go for Seagate or Western Digital (with preference going to Seagate).
  7. Sata's interoperable. If it fits it'll run just fine. Odds are you'll need Sata data cables and a sata power cable or molex->sata power adaptor.
  8. Oh god not the power supply myths again. Since I need to go grocery shopping for the 4th in a minute here's the cliffnotes version of why you should ignore thatguy's recommended psu: Quality over quantity, amps on the 12v rail over wattage, and at OCforums almost 70,000 people buy power supplies from only a handful of companies (coolmax is not one of them) because the rest are known primarily for exploding. Go read jonnyguru's website for more info on what makes a truly good power supply. Also a mobo has virtually no power requirements in and of itself, it's the videocard and hard drives that make up the bulk of modern power supply requirements. even the CPU only uses a couple watts. In conclusion stick to: Corsair, PC Power and Cooling and Seasonic. Not only are they virtually guaranteed to actually run at what they're rated for but they have incredible reputations for customer service and parts quality (Yknow those antec PSUs everyone loved? made by seasonic.) as well as also happening to be some of the best prices. Get a corsair HX620 if you want to get a new power supply. Unless you go SLI you will NEVER need more than it provides, I'm already running a bunch of hard drives and a GTX 260 on it with an overclocked quadcore and a case full of fans and lights.
  9. Same hardware, company doesn't matter. If one has more ram or a higher clock speed than the other they'll both just run at the slower one's limits. The real question here is why would you NOT run at your maximum resolution? 1600x1200 is a 4:3 resolution which means you're either using a VERY old LCD or a CRT, if it's a CRT then it's probably designed to run at 1600x1200 @85hz.
  10. I've got something with a memory leak then because right now FF is using 103,944K memory in task manager and I've seen that get as high as 800,000K.
  11. If your power supply is remotely new enough to have a PCIE connector for videocards it's also going to have SATA power. Most all SATA hdd's nowadays will also only have SATA power plugs instead of that and a molex power plug. For the most part you're unlikely to need anything other than some data cables, and most motherboards come with those nowadays.
  12. Gave ubiquity a try, I think it's got a memory leak or something though. That or 3.5 itself does.
  13. If you have speakers the problem is that your microphone is physically picking up the soundwaves from your speakers and there's nothing you can do about it. If you use headphones you prolly have something set to "What U hear" or something similar somewhere and it's a digital rather than a physical connection.
  14. Depends on the addon, ones that don't interfere in the running won't cause any slowdown. Download manager tweak for example is just a GUI for stuff you'd otherwise need to tweak in about:config.
  15. The community expanding tremendously has little to do with the pretty reasonable standards of "No homophobia/racism/discrimination" being largely ditched and now teamkilling considered entirely acceptable by a BoD.

The rules still exist, they could still be applied without any extra effort, but for some reason the standards have slidden towards SG becoming not just tolerant but openly supportive of discrimination now also with no rules against teamkilling.

  16. Adblock PLUS (plus works better) Better gmail 2 Bugmenot Content Preferences (workaround to use UTF-8 character encoding everywhere) Download Manager Tweak Downthemall (porn, lets not pretend) Fasterfox (can be manually set for 3.5) Foxclocks Gmailspace Greasemonkey (Yousable tube FTW) Imageshack right-click Leet Key Tab to Window (shift tabs inbetween windows, turn tab into a window) Tabbrowser Preferences (broken) Xmarks All on the Strata Reloaded theme since I like blue.
  17. you can also use demoui ingame and cut your demo files down to the absolute minimum.
  18. Already shared my concerns with beth so i'll just quote the important bit:

"I think you need to talk with spiked, he's basically gone and decided that in addition to furries and jews it's now okay to harass homosexuals on the server and call people fags, as well as ignoring the rule against teamkilling."

Just looking at the player complaints forum alone, the further back you go the more obvious it becomes that there has been a slide in community standards. As a whole we've gone from being apathetic about teamkilling and the like to openly supporting and condoning prejudice and harassment of various groups and members and the attitude becomes more blatant the higher up the chain you go.

Compare how little tolerance you, beth, and even Venemous have for racism to Juku and Astrum, or how it's basically encouraged now to call Kenny and any other furries fags or worse and when they try to complain about it THEY get in trouble.

This isn't the same SG I joined a year ago.

  19. I think you need to talk with spiked, he's basically gone and decided that in addition to furries and jews it's now okay to harass homosexuals on the server and call people fags, as well as ignoring the rule against teamkilling.

What's going on around here? It's like everyone who gets promoted above a certain level loses their mind and suddenly forgets all the things that used to be hard bannable offenses.

  20. You need to go talk to the other BoD's and read the archived threads, calling people fags and harassing them for being gay has always been a bannable offense. It's only recently that harassing furrys, gays, and jews was tolerated and even openly condoned at SG.

  21. Does he have a creative soundcard (x-fi/soundblaster etc), does he use a USB or audio-jack mic with his headphones, and does he have ventrilo set to "What U hear" or something similar?
  22. You guys REALLY hate furries eh? There's a very pronounced set of double standards in how they're harassed with impunity here, it's about the only thing easier to get away with than antisemitism.

  23. what i would really like is to do a speedtest with a sub200ms ping. Your signature makes me jealous. Ontopic: Fastdownloads server?
  24. LCD refresh rates are completely different from CRT refresh rates. a CRT recieves data as fast as your videocard can send it out and displays it as fast as it's refresh rate, in most cases 85 or more times per second. Because this is done by a beam of electrons (the cathode RAY tube) and it directly excites phosphors to emit visible light there's virtually no lag except what light and electrons take to travel. an LCD has two "refresh" rates. How fast it recieves data and how fast it's actually capable of refreshing it's image. A CRT needs to constantly redraw it's image no matter what, an LCD is composed of bajillions of mechanical physical switches that open and close to color the light from the backlight as it passes through them. Your 120hz refresh rate is actually still limited by LCD panel's shitty response times and furthermore is nothing more than digitally interpolating multiple frames of whatever's being displayed to give the illusion of smoother motion. This in and of itself makes things worse in dynamic scenarios like games. And all of this is done with fixed pixels, a resolution which is on average ~200 lines less than a CRT, backlight bleed, limited viewing angles, far lower refresh rates, lag times, and a lower color gamut. ONTOPIC: Asus mobos that use Intel chipsets are better than the nvidia chipsets obv. Esp since those tend to be the better ones with ~8phase power (more isn't going to hurt but its kinda excessive beyond 8).
  25. I'm with andre except for three things: 1. GTX 275 is better bang for your buck graphics card wise, you'll be able to afford to upgrade again every other year or so (if you've got a steady job, not hard for money etc). 2. Asus mobos are the best imho, followed by gigabyte. SLI is a gimmick and nvidia's chipsets are terrible. 3. I'm a CRT fanatic, I'd buy a 60lb 21" trinitron and run 1600x1200@85hz before any flatpanel. Other than that Andre's on the money. Good ram brands when you add in g.skill, corsair's still honestly one of the best power supplies you can buy although the hx1000 is way overkill and you'll never need more than a 700watter if you don't go SLI, and whatever any fanboys say the AMD processors just cannot hold a candle to even the less expensive intel processors. You can easily trim Andre's suggestions down to about $1100-1200.
