INTP. Now the real dilemma here is that my star sign doesn't line up fully... I need someone with access to Google scholar to help me figure out why these extremely important tests- that define my entire life are conflicting. My sense of self is fading.

Some Unfortunate News...
topic replied to All Ts's Caution in Announcements
You were one of the most funny positive people I have ever met not just at this community, or online but ever. Plenty of times you were handed an awful hand and still came at it with an angle most people wouldn't. You showe how much you loved this community, it goes without saying that not a single person here is going to forget how much you were for friendship, laughter, peace and enjoying every moment. There were plenty of times I got so wrapped up in negativity and you were always a refreshing voice of reason. You were one of the first people I met & befriended here, I loved seeing you around and would sometimes join simply because you were online. You’re one of the people who made me want to do more than just mess around on the servers, but showed me that there was more to the community. You had such a passion for this place. I remember you showing up to meetings in TeamSpeak after long shifts of work and dealing with everyone’s dumb bullshit. You always were helping me, giving me advice, and it wasn't just helping me here but it honestly helped change my overall behavior for the better. When I wasn't here anymore after many years, the same thing. Checked in on me, gave me advice, and really truly cared. It made a huge impact at a time I needed it most. When I heard about your house I seriously thought to myself how fucking unfair that was, because it was never lost on me or anyone else for that matter; that your heart was made of solid gold. This place loves you and the way they rallied around you was one of the most beautiful things that even as I sat perma-banned I had admiration for, even now it’s no different, everyone you interacted with absolutely adored you because you were amazing. Reading this thread brought me to tears, so many people are hurting right now. I kept reaching out because I always felt like some of the advice you had given me had been from personal experience. I regret distancing myself & feel incredibly guilty because of it. You deserved so much better from this world, I’m going to do my best to remember every moment we shared together & honor them. I don't know what happened, I almost pray that this is all some kind of misunderstanding and that you’re just here again to make everyone laugh... Taking a Jamo shot for you tonight old friend. Rest Easy. My condolences goes out to his family, his close friends here & beyond. He was a positive force in this world, and even if he's passed he left a huge mark on everyone he met, and that is something that cannot ever fade. -

A lot of these ideas are completely counter productive to keeping order on the server, some are things that might have to happen if the server ever hopes to sit at rank 20 or under. The warden system, queue system, are decent ideas that in the past were on the radar. Ideas like removing warning shots, allowing forced deathgames, making rounds longer change the identity of the server way too radically and IMO will lead to worse problems than now.
-
I don't think this is a terrible idea if we're trying to retain as many players as possible and if the server gets to rank 20 or under. I lowered JB down to 42 cause it was genuinely becoming a clusterfuck and I didn't want to sacrifice too much fun for the amount of players. My personal worry if anything like this ever happened is that I don't see people being able to execute it properly without being a bit silly about making things different or trying to be creative without thinking about how it might impede fun. I could also see what Dominic mentions coming into play in that certain players make the server fun so if someone sees someone like @Gumline on "JB #1" then "JB #2" might turn into a server with the people who can't play on #1, then they might think it's not worth it to play and less fun overall. Right now JB should focus on pushing changes out that mitigate the things you mentioned and recruit a strong community with regulars, admins, and higher-staff. Let me tack to the end that I still think at the very least certain SG servers should be prime as it exposes the players to way too much shit to deal with.
-
I'm only posting cause people were telling me I should, but I think it would be monumentally misguided to add any further stipulation's to JB's First Order plugin. Freedays are a large part of our server because frankly the maps we have aren't too exciting (cause the alternatives aren't great) and the deathmatch style of JB builds off of days where people get to go berserk killing eachother. The notion that a free day is given everyday isn't just wrong, it's the complaint children have used who play our server, it's a massive exaggeration and the fix to that is having people report/enforce the rules which are already in place to combat such situations. Do not make the mistake of fixing something that isn't an issue and encourage more feedback on this thread.

Suggestions for LR
topic replied to All Ts's Corona in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
Gosh what a nice thread full of solid ideas. Seriously, with JB doing so good lately it's a little confusing that there is 3 managers, 2 SR's and very little public presence. After the holiday fever dies down things normally seen as small by us in the past like the LR thing should be at the center stage if JB has any chance of retaining players and becoming one of the more premiere servers. The other changes we did got JB like 70% to where we wanted, the rest of the way was primarily a few big plugins, then a majority of small changes and small plugins. -

I truly believe there are some good ideas in here that are worth looking at, even if they are tweaked a bit or rearranged to fit the server. I have to say to players, staff, and managers alike to not get carried away with changing a whole bunch of shit. My whole mindset behind managing Jailbreak was getting feedback, having meetings, talking to all you guys personally, and fleshing ideas out with staff/managers to the point where we had the highest possible level of knowledge before we did changes. All of the changes we made hit an easy medium between the extreme almost nazi-like state of the other servers and ours. Those changes weren't like that because myself and Dominic were genius', it was like that because we had good feedback, we molded our ideas to fit the servers, and were lucky enough to have the support of a skilled man like @Liam Brown. People may of disagreed with us, you may of agreed, you may of hated the server as we changed it but those changes are one of the primary factors that launched JB to it's current success. The perfect storm got created in the events that were being ran by the team, the F2P, the slots, and how lucky we are to have some admins who were willing to hold the line for a few months. Jailbreak is probably one of the most malleable servers in terms of what we have here at SG and if you come up with a solid road map for what's wrong on the server, how you would like to solve it, and whether that solution is both practical yet maintains fun on the server you can make awesome change. I've seen many impulse changes to the server in the past due to a sudden big push for change and people not appreciating the system that is put in place. I've also seen utter stagnation by people who think the server is perfect the way it is, can't possibly improve and that previous managers had to of thought of everything. All of that is nonsense. Anyone who dismisses opinions for that shit needs to be ignored or told that they're wrong, cause when I got the server there were so many illogical dinosaur age changes on their from stubborn people who couldn't be asked to follow a line of logical thought into a removal or addition. Being like other servers is not a bad thing if you can keep the integrity of the server and you're not taking shitty ideas that kill the concept of the gamemode. If the honest position of the managers is currently that we don't at all want to to do what others are doing I would be pretty shocked and worried for the future of the server. In my opinion, a little bit of structure in rules is important, a little bit of restriction in what CT's are allowed to do is important, but at the same time the server needs to feel free enough to allow for creativity, roleplay and deviation. This lets the skilled players shine, it lets people mess around and doesn't create an environment where things begin to get boring. I think the people pushing for Deathgames are unwilling to come up with a way to make it work themselves and don't understand that the fun our server gets is from being the Deathmatch "Jailbreak" on fast-paced maps with a lot of secrets. Other servers you die and similar to GMOD TTT you sit dead for minutes at a time, on our server you die, you wait a minute or two and you're back in the action. This is why when you change anything like round-time or make changes that might slow down, increase the length of round in theory or not that you must be very careful. The real things I was looking at adding to the server was: Special Days (we were working on a concept that might work) Optimizing/fixing the LR plugin Working on scaling the server up to where it won't be a clusterfuck, will retain it's identity but could compete with pG. Store plugin changes to increase advertising, player interaction, playtime and new systems such as buying more models, converting credits etc. Jailbreak Rank System Optional CT-ban plugin fit with protocol. If our Jailbreak Revamp 2.0 doesn't get finished by the current management I think it would be doing themselves a great disservice as these are things that we fleshed out, discussed with the community and are ideas that I personally think bring our server way past the competition. I understand that the new management is likely settling in, learning, and readjusting in @Wawa's case, but you're absolutely right that in order to keep interest that getting the ball rolling, encouraging/participating in discussion, and acting is the right case- even if the ideas aren't right yet. This thread, the OP atleast I almost agree with @delirium that a lot of the things you mentioned are already on our servers and the things that aren't are there for good reasons. This includes everything to your stipulation on armory camping, Ghosting not allowed even when alive (?), When you start an LR, rules told earlier don't apply anymore (again ?) and Ct's can give out a max of 3 penalty rounds (what does this mean?). I entirely agree with having discussion, but you got to put more effort in then what looks like a big splurged wall of text or possibly copy+paste. I can't tell what atleast 25% of your OP means, and then the other 50% of it are things that are already on the server, with the remainder being changes with no reason and theory behind. You have to do better with these threads if you really want to create quality discussion that isn't all over the place.

I think that people should be allowed to reply to each others posts within admin applications, criticize points, and encourage further discussion. In the FAQ and through people in the higher-staff people replying starts "unnecessary arguments" because people "don't agree" or think someone's "post is dumb". I think that many of the recent discussions are necessary considering: the hesitancy of higher-ups to make their own criticisms or moderate the outcome of admin applications being quite polarizing the willingness of higher-ups to accept/reject apps which have few supports/reapplies based off personal opinion the complexity of some of the arguments being made the system creating more of a skew at both ends due to decrease in required post count the connectivity between the higher-up team and the general server population I am also going to say that this seems to be something that has been enforced extremely loosely and at personal bias. I remember many posts criticizing my views on candidates when I was a SA (not able to reply on applications) being left up by a former VP due to the person in questions point being "valid" and I've seen many threads where higher-ups themselves thank posts that are calling into questions someone's opinion. I think someone should be able to reply to someone else, but if there is a rule then people should stop subjectively enforcing it whenever they feel like it. Everyone should be able to use admin applications to have a discourse and forum moderators should be moderating that discourse not by judging which opinions are right or wrong but by measuring whether the conversation is constructive. If someone posts "your opinion is dumb, you're wrong and retarded" there's obviously an issue there, but I think that trying a little bit more transparency and encouraging an environment of free thought is better than the dysfunctional, fragmented system SG has right now.

I think it's been used as an excuse to remove maps and add maps by managers in the past when they shouldn't and still up until recently. It would be as if everyone voted for an admin candidate then one person who votes against them with clear almost non-arguable information of them being toxic, irrational, and overall a bad candidate for admin- yet the BD's decide to approve them due to strict vote. I don't know if this is reason enough to remove the vote, but I also don't know if I agree with the comparison of admin applications to map suggestions. With admin applications I think they are way more polarized, prone to bias, and seeing how others are voting would come with more skewed popular opinion. If you disagree with someone on a map not being added the likelihood they're going to get into a squabble over opinion with you is relatively low compared to how something like admin applications effect the community and how they are prone to conflict & personal feelings become passionate. Both are subjective, but you have to gauge the level of impact, abuse, usefulness and accuracy. I would say based on prior experience my view is that there are threads where it doesn't work at all as a good indicator but the majority of threads I've seen it work fine.

[Answered] Racism Rule
topic replied to All Ts's I Eat Dog in SG Info & Discussion
I completely agree with you, but it's not an SG thing as much as it's a people thing in general. In the US and western world racism against black people in specific is basically up their in the ladder of the worst kind person you can be. Racism against other races isn't taken as seriously because people are starting to genuinely believe the rhetoric that because black people were slaves X years ago that we should have to pay a tax to make up for it (also known as a reparations tax). I wouldn't say that this is generating more or even equivalent hate towards the other races but the amount of "you're a white male" and identity politics being thrown around nowadays is absurd. This isn't just "wow I'm white look at me", this bleeds over to almost every other race because there seems to be a tier of oppression in the eyes of many. The assumption is that if you're a black male you're less oppressed than the genderless black woman who also happens to be a single mother. To wrap this around, people are starting to accept absurd standards to what is racist and how bad x vs y is rather than just saying "you know this is all bad". This is a tangible thing happening in regards to school quotas, public service job test/acceptance and creates a blanket bogus hierarchy. I've seen admins be much more harsh on racism against Blacks then Asians, Whites and Hispanics- it's a complete double standard and isn't acceptable if SG means for people like you to take the rules seriously. I don't think your name is a complete testament to this, but I would be really hard to convince that if your name was "I am a dirty monkey" with a picture of a black person it wouldn't have gotten someone's attention ages ago. I think there's also the angle where there is some ambiguity in the rules about relation between names and avatars as to whether it is comparable and fair for an admin to judge it that way. Just my 2 cents. -
[Answered] The term oogabooga
topic replied to All Ts's All Ts in SG Info & Discussion
Well the point of the thread is to get a solid answer at some point from a higher-up, but given it's a forum I don't see how people giving their opinion on it is devolving but just having a discussion lol. You should not have any chance to get banned for something falsely when you're following rules connected to it, there should not be a risk at all. I think that is probably one of the point of contention regarding the word regardless of what I think about the term directly as I already stated that in the OP. -

[Answered] The term oogabooga

Okay great man, my question wasn't about my group of friends and if that does have anything to do with it why would we get differential treatment. I understand you don't like x, y, z person on the forums but you continuously make salty and unneeded posts as perfect examples being this, Gumline's admin application, and suggestions by myself and Dominic. I even tried to reach out to you the other day to let you know that I don't care about the original situation that Montag and Dominic had with you regarding leaving and some comments you've made, but yet you continue to make false and defamatory statements with zero evidence. I don't say racist shit on Steam-Gamers and I never have, so unless you have actual evidence of that you should probably stop saying things with no evidence to back it up. I'm the person who was going super hard, banned Pandapwnr for it when he was even slightly saying something racist, I give out longer bans for it than any admin probably in recent history and I was literally taking shit from my own friend group for enforcing that rule. Any warnings any of my friends have gotten for saying things on the edge of racism, they came from me. As for stance on racism currently is that SG should probably allow slang, but still be heavily against actual tangible racism. As for your last part about skirting the rule, how is saying a word against the rules when that word is allowed and the context behind it provides zero racist narrative or context. If that's how it is then by default anyone/everyone saying it should be banned for doing so, and not what Caution originally said in a recent appeal. -
[Answered] The term oogabooga
All Ts posted a topic in SG Info & Discussion
Is this term racist or not? I understand according to the appeal Caution answered that the answer is no as they didn't even know what it was and that context matters entirely in that the person should clearly be being racist. Then yesterday or today, Montag was banned for the use of the term. This post is not meant to defend him, but talk about whether it is allowed. Personally I think the terms current 2016-2018 rise to being a meme should make it racist and not allowed according to our strict stance, but I don't want myself or someone else to say a term and be banned for it. Personally I don't use that term, besides situations where I've spoken about its use/level of racism and in the past I warned someone who after the whole situation with an LG switched their name to "ooga booga" on TeamSpeak after prior warnings of racism mere days before. Regardless of all of the context behind that situation there was no actual punishment given but only a warning, so naturally I'm really confused as to where this term actually stands given these 3 incidents. -
Implied no crouching
topic replied to All Ts's Ender in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
You're all derailing the thread by calling him dumb in the thread and not answering the question. I'm actually answering his question and making the distinction that you guys can say "this is this", "this is this" and move on. You're also drawing distinctions that he can be disrespected by people who should instead be answering his question that if they tried already tried then they're allowed to make fun of him instead of locking the thread, making a final ruling or doing anything other than dismiss this on the basis of being petty. -
Implied no crouching
topic replied to All Ts's Ender in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
I don't agree with @delirium, but just because you weren't delaying anymore than the other Ts doesn't change the fact that you were crouching out of your cell in all technicality. I think @Wawa and a few others are on the right track but a bit off. Just cause a CT gives an order it doesn't imply no crouching, no crouching would be sort of "implied" if it was an order where you have to move from point A to point B as you're supposed to complete an order in the fastest way possible. Whether or not they think that it was reasonable for @Gumline to warning shot you is up to the managers, I think there is an argument to be made that it wasn't reasonable and one that it was. There is a lot of blatant hypocrisy in this thread from the insults, to the arguments people are making that your shit is petty yet not being able to logically process it themselves, and the fact that the precedent matters far more than this small stupid instance itself. I'm just going to say this is what peak performance looks like again, hope that some mildly intelligent manager or person of authority makes an actual ruling rather than calling you dumb and not making a decision.
