  1. A solution.

I apologize if it comes off like I’m pointing my finger at you. I understand that you don’t see everything that goes on behind the scenes but these individuals in regards to banana joe have been asked multiple times by multiple staff members. I personally expect more from people who have been around for a hot minute and have risen through the ranks and just because they no longer are staff does not mean they should be considered like any other regular player. Though I fully understand the vitriol as I have been in their position and felt scorned by the community for much longer than they have been apart of it. However at some point you need to look at the situation, recognize the part you played, and accept what happens.

I don’t want to play the semantics games. Prior staff members were collectively targeting someone who made it known on multiple occasions that a long time member did not appreciate the annoyances. We have asked several people to stop in private and then a direct public statement was made which was disregarded less than 3 hours later. I understand the game that is being played and I refuse to take part in it. They knew what they were doing.

He left the discord specifically because of this.
  4. A solution.

What you haven’t seen is that this has been going on well over 4-5 months and banana joe ha asked politely MULTIPLE times for it to stop. What would be your proposed solution? Should we tell him to fuck off or protect his right to not be annoyed for half a year? This isn’t an us vs you mentality. This is an we have asked you stop on multiple occasions and you have blatantly disregarded us. Let it be known that while I am IA, I will not condone this behavior and unless someone from the Board or IA team disagrees with me I will be stepping in. I’m all for friendly banter and if someone does not have a problem with it than neither do I, however on the flip side, I will not allow someone to actively disregard us and intentionally annoy someone.
  5. A solution.

I understand what you mean and have even advocated for it strongly in the past. The issue is I go into GFL and scroll up for days worth of their general chat and I don’t see a quarter of the bullshit we currently are allowing. We are probably still one of the most lenient communities out there in terms of how we have let everyone interact with each other. There are several members who are currently less than welcoming and when we do finally say something trust and believe it’s not the first time, first day, or first week someone has repeatedly acted in a way that garners our attention. Nobody on this end is acting like they make a paycheck for this trust me. We simply have seen how things have played out and are diverting efforts to course correction. When you let certain attitudes slide for so long and then actively pursue punishment on the offenders it can feel like we are taking things too seriously but I promise you we are not. You are not allowed to swear for the most part at Ego and they are doing fairly well and that’s how they have ALWAYS been. GFL, again I don’t see people treating each other in the same way I see people treat each other here. That used to be part of the charm for some people but it’s not easy to find a middle ground. We used to let things slide until someone was complaining that they were being harassed, telling them to grow thicker skin when it becomes an everyday thing is not applicable. If I had my buddies come in and annoy you every day for a month and when you complained you were told to grow thicker skin would you consider coming back? Maybe yes, maybe no, but we can’t just cater to people who are able to brush things off when it becomes a prolonged issue.

  14. I'd say since all of our staff are volunteers that sentiment is shared whether they want to admit it or not. I'd agree that any form of voice chat will help anyone integrate into a community but we have multiple adverts pointing you towards our forum to start integration. If it took you a year to do it the only thing I would say is on fault of SG is we could make it more apparent that we have the forums. If you knew about them and just didn't decide to sign up for a year what could any of us have done to facilitate that short of one of us picking you out of the crowd and sending you the forums link? I can't speak for how things have gone over the last 6 months to a year since I wasn't paying much attention but what I can say is that for the most part, from what I've observed, most of the staff tends to make private channels but not necessarily lock them. Maybe opening up the ability to make private channels but locking them be a subscriber perk could help with that. I'm not saying that's even been discussed but I'm just spitballing off the top of my head. Whether you want to go into detail or not on joining staff and sticking a round is something I will let you decide. What I will say on this is that we appreciate all the work everyone who steps up does but at the same time burn out is a real thing. People tend to take on multiple roles not understanding or even thinking that eventually you will catch burn out. Once somebody stops putting in that work, it's not conducive to let them hang around just for the sake of hanging around, which I would argue is partly why we are in the scenario we are in but that is just my personal view, one that should be taken with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, if people don't step up and voice their opinions we can't do anything to facilitate change. I understand some people don't want to for fear they'll get meme'd on but at some point it's just the internet, say what you have to say. If the overall atmosphere is that people don't want to speak because of this fear, we can attack that. If nobody pipes up at all, what are we attacking? We are just shooting in the dark and hoping we hit. Many of the people on the board come from a completely different era of the internet and SG itself so they may not be able to relate to the increasing PC culture that has crept up while also maintaining common sense rules.
  15. Your missing a mandatory movie.
  16. Lets just start with being honest here. Mistakes have been made, some on the part of staff and some not. Pretending like summer coming is going to fix everything is neither accurate nor productive. Neither is lamenting on CSGO. I believe our time as a CSGO community is over and we are actively making moves to expand ourselves as a brand and pull in traffic from multiple mediums. Basing our current trajectory on CSGO servers alone is not what you guys should be doing. I’m a server guy so the majority of my attention is on servers outside CSGO and inside. Do I think it’s impossible for us to have semi populated servers consistently? No I don’t think we are quite there yet. We need change from the top to the bottom which is being worked on, and support from our current player base. I don’t think anyone who has spent 2-3+ years wants to see this place go offline for good. Many of us have made long term friends and can look back on fond memories. Changes are coming all around. This not the first time we have seen a decline in our servers and have had to make a bounce back.
  17. I wish I could give you more specific information however I’m not the one who should be delivering any specifics on works in progress. I will defer to the Board to handle that. What I can tell you is that we are focusing on specific endeavors aimed towards the macro however these things take time to fully think out and implement in a meaningful way. As to your point on why choose SG over other communities, that’s kind of subjective. Some people look to join a community where there is a clear and quick pathway through staff positions so that they can do server or community related things. I personally would not fit in at EGO, never have never will. I enjoy the looser moderating style that SG tends to have and the tighter community feel that you get over a place like GFL where it’s more sub communities per server under one larger community. We obviously strive to be inclusive towards different types of people but that’s much easier said than done. Id be interested to hear why you specifically prefer SG over another community that you could have joined and worked towards bettering. Without feedback, we can only go off what we see and hear throughout our hallways. Do you think our staff is too strict these days? Too loose? I’d personally say your more free to speak your mind over a community like EGO but that’s just me. You’ve already achieved getting involved with the community on a deeper level and in turn I’m sure you’ve made your share of friends. Do you think that was difficult or easy? What in specific do you think we could do better to improve the overall atmosphere?
  18. I apologize that I didn’t provide the answer you were looking however my answer still stands. You mention everything that was done to set ourselves apart from other communities within the context of CSGO. I believe I answered you in that our overall big picture focus is no longer on simply being a CSGO community. In the micro, we have an entire team dedicated towards specific servers. I’m sure you know that each manager is responsible for the innovation on their managed server. Being that there was some burnout we have recently had some turn overs and new promotions aimed at the goal of expansion beyond any specific game. I’m not sure what you are asking I guess. Are you looking for upcoming plans on our established servers, plans for new servers? I don’t think we are exactly targeting players who are ostracized by other communities. If someone finds that their current community is no longer a good fit we will welcome them. If someone has no community to interact with, we will welcome them. Whether they play Destiny 2, Valorant, CSGO, etc.. we will welcome them. The direction is a gaming HUB. Me being a bit lower on the totem pole I can only speak for what I’ve seen and have discussed with others but as a whole I think everyone on the team would agree with that sentiment. Some people are more focused on that macro goal while some are focused on the micro regarding their managed server(s).
  19. You answered the question yourself. SG is for anyone and everyone who wants a chill environment to come shoot the shit and play video games. That’s what it’s foundation was and continues to be. The demographic of online gaming has changed over the years and we do our best to keep up with those changing demographics. Seeing how online gaming is moving from community based dedicated servers to general gaming via the use of discord as a HUB I’d say that’s the current direction we are leaning towards to attain. I agree that during your stint in staff we focused mainly on CSGO as that was our bread and butter but I think it’s fair to say the time of us being a strictly CSGO community is over. This is a transitional period and we are seeing highs and lows. Just as we did during the transitional period from different owners, css to csgo, etc
  20. Grats big chief @Poke
  21. Jelly or Jam

No no, he’s onto something here. @Cautiongo on
  22. Why would you say that I was derailing? I was simply adding another form of communication as a possible successor to the discord? I’m kind of insulted that you would just label my contribution to this legitimate suggestion as a meme. I’d respectfully ask you to not slander me like that again. I have as much detail in my post as you did in yours sir.
  23. what are your supporting arguments to stop developing our Discord and retransition back to TeamSpeak?
  24. But RaidCall is clearly superior to ventrilo.
