  1. I just think it's a boring topic because you can't really defend either side with logic or evidence, it just boils down to "YES I DO" "NO YOU DON'T" I will say that you're wrong in assuming that having free will would limit god, though. To talk about "being able to go against god's will" implies that god has a stake in his system, or a motivation for things to play out a certain way...which may not be the case. But there's another fun question: do god's creations have the power to destroy it?
  2. Wow, learn to read guys...CONTENT PROVIDERS pay to have THEIR CONTENT delivered faster. You don't pay to look at certain websites faster. So google will still be fast and small-time websites will get slower.
  3. IMO this is the stupidest philosophy topic ever to discuss, but it can present some interesting ideas if you look at it in certain ways... For instance, if we say that we DO have "free will" in the sense that we are consciously influencing our lives, that would imply that we're actually consciously controlling the chemical processes in our body, because everything we do [physically] is the result of a chemical reaction. It's well-known that people like martial artists and many spiritual monks are able to exercise an impressive amount of control over things like their heart rate and blood pressure, but what about manipulating the physical world outside our body? If we can manipulate the physical world that's encompassed by the body, who's to say that the same can't be done for the physical world outside it? I think that "paranormal" phenomena like ESP and psychokinesis are a given, if free will is assumed to exist.
  4. I think the irony of this sentence fragment is actually worsening my indigestion But I'm pretty pumped for SS3.
  5. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to be physically drained before you get bored, since the more you play the more tired you'll get, and the more tired you are the more irritable and less tolerant of noobs you get. I almost always end up ragequitting after a certain point but on some occasions I'll be able to play for 24 hours straight or more.
  6. That's just dodging the issue completely because the question is whether a god could create an object of such large mass that even he could not lift it. It also sounds to me like you're saying "it has a limit but it's infinite INSIDE that limit" which is contradictory. A number cannot be used to represent a limitless value, because numbers are concrete. Again, science is only what we think we know already. We used to think that heavier objects were accelerated faster by gravity, and that trepanning and electroshock therapy were good ways to cure mental illness. You're probably right that there's no way to prove or disprove the existence of an omnipotent being, but that doesn't really have any bearing on the question at hand, which is whether or not an omnipotent being could make an object so heavy that even he couldn't lift it. Actually it would collapse in on itself. But one could assume that an omnipotent being has the capability of maintaining the integrity of the physical world as it manipulates it and isn't bound by any natural laws. If there's an omnipotent being controlling the happenings of the world, that doesn't necessarily mean you go anywhere besides a hole in the ground when you die  This is a fun thread
  7. My last girlfriend broke up with me because I wouldn't go visit her after I'd broken my leg and couldn't go anywhere for a while. She was really needy :\
  8. Heat is generally a byproduct of inefficiencies in a system (eg. resistance in an electrical circuit). It can be presumed that an omnipotent god would use energy 100% efficiently. How is it limitless if the upper limit is 1? :confused1: I think you're confusing the length of the number in digits with the actual size of the number There's a limitless number of masses up to 1kg, but it still wouldn't be heavier than 1kg. The laws of science aren't very useful in this situation...science only covers what we think we understand about the universe, and most definitions of a god place it outside the realm of human comprehension.
  9. He cannot, but that doesn't mean he's not omnipotent. He can create a stone of limitless mass, but he can also lift that stone. Both his ability to create and his ability to manipulate are unlimited, hence omnipotency.
  10. Cheaper to buy the gun first and then rob the store.
  11. I gave you a suggestion. Almost the best suggestion, except for the gin  One shot of straight liquor for every zombie you kill! *NOTE* May not end well if you are awesome.
  12. You don't get soda because it dehydrates you, but you get large fries? Then you eat ramen later? :confused1:
  13. I was going to say sort of the same thing...much like XP Home is shit but XP Pro is pretty good, Vista Home is pretty shitty. It has very few of the features that really make Vista better than XP. Ultimate performs much better (if you have enough memory, I think it recommends an extra gig for Ultimate over Home) and has many more features. If you have an older machine then I'd stick with XP (although you can turn off Aero in Vista and get a substantial performance boost), but if you've got a computer that's been made in the past 2-3 years and has at least 2GB of memory, Vista Ultimate is the way to go. Especially if you've ever used OSX or Linux and know how to use features like symlinks, which are now supported in the latest iteration of NTFS that I believe is only supported by Vista. It's also got lots of features ripped from Linux/OSX that make Vista a breeze for lazy people like me, such as the quick-search start menu and native hotkeys for the first 10 items on your quicklaunch bar. When I get back from classes I just hit Win+1 and firefox is open and I'm ready to browse the internets, and if I forget to open winamp before I already opened a game I can just hit Win+2 and bring it up and start the rock without having to alt+tab, since it opens minimized and I have global hotkeys set up for winamp already.
  14. I don't even see how that's a paradox, it seems pretty obvious to me that the answer would be "no." It seems like one of those "problems" that just came about due to an inability of most people to deal with immeasurably large quantities.
  15. That's pretty bad logic. If god can create a create a stone of infinite mass and can also lift a stone of infinite mass, then he must be omnipotent. It's like saying god can't know everything because he doesn't know a question he can't answer...if there's no question he can't answer then it must logically follow that he knows everything.
  16. me against everyone, i win no matter what because even if i lose the fight, you guys just beat up a cripple
  17. r kelly is the greatest rapper alive today cdaAWFoWr2c Unfortunately, genius and insanity often go hand-in-hand...
  18. Mossberg 500 and a gin-yew-ine Russian SKS (rearsenaled though so it's not actually worth anything). If I can get enough money working over the summer I'll probably get a Glock 20 since I can just stash that in my car...noplace to put the long arms so they're still in NY until I can get a job here and get an apartment, which will probably not happen till I get my instructor certificates cause there's no jobs here
  19. Is it bad that I knew exactly what it was just from the single frame that's there before you click play?

  21. Fail. Forced induction on a 35-year old engine is NOT ftw. Forced induction increases the volumetric efficiency of the engine, meaning it makes more power for its displacement...it makes your fuel efficiency WORSE because you need to add more fuel to maintain the proper air/fuel ratio with all that extra air being forced in.
  22. Sad songs?

who the fuck snorts 2-ce, much less at a party
  23. How would sheet music not be allowed and why would it even make a difference? :confused1:
