  1. Downloading now. The torrent for me is fluctuating at 60-high 70 kbps. High 70s gave me a read out of around 1d 20h to finish at 2.6%. This is a 9.34GB file. Make the call between torrent or whatever the other option is. I suspect as time goes on, more people will be around to seed the torrent and download rates will get higher.
  2. Lucky.
  3. Saw IV lawl. I like how the other two on camera didn't even pay attention to the guy at first.
  4. Warhammer Online

Everyone and their mother's going Destruction. This game will fail massively if there isn't some sort of lock mechanism on what faction you can play based on population balance. Not that I want it to, it looks interesting. I'll get it if it'll let me install it despite being under the hardware requirements. It wants 2.5 P4, I've got 2.2 P3... well it's an AMD, but it's older than the first lines of P4s so I assume it's a P3 equivalent.

Last I heard, the requirements are expected to be similar to The Orange Box requirements.
  8. Spore

To me, this is like Portal. It looks(or is) decent but for the life of me I'll never understand why people obsess over it.
  9. Mercs 2

    360. I don't think it matters though.
  10. Mercs 2

I have it. It's great if you're not expecting GTA4 in quality. There are a few bugs and a few graphical oddities like super stretched textures due to bad terrain molding and flying grass. I saw grass today that was higher up than the ground, almost to my character's head. My biggest problems are that guns are horrendously inaccurate, and it feels like you're farting around Venezuela without an aim. I mean yeah, you're out to kill one guy, but I'm apparently 33% done and so little actual story dialogue has gone by. The sound in this game is fucking horrible. You hear the same lines over and over and over and over and over again. Your satellite friend constantly tells you shit about Venezuela like you haven't been there before, which is fine the first time, but I don't need to hear where the fork in the road leads out of your base every single time I load up my game and drive by it. Engine noises on vehicles loop when your putting the pedal to the medal and it drives me insane on some cars... some cars make a DONG! everytime you let go of the accelerator. This one time while fighting at an enemy outpost, the guys called for backup at least two dozen times, and there's only one backup line spoken per faction. The music isn't bad, but it's been done better by the likes of Freedom Fighters. The ambient tune that plays when nothing's going on is okay.
  11. Kix.

I miss Pacman cereal. That shit was awesome.
  12. I suppose he deserves it for hamming it up to the n'th degree in front of a camera at the Olympics, but wow that CBS thing was awkward to watch. I wouldn't be surprised if the lady butchered what she was told to say in front of the camera though, she likely has zero experience with video games. It's like when your parents try and reference the things you own to their friends when the subject of conversation comes up and fail miserably at it.
  13. The Mayans were advanced enough to develop a calender that worked such a long time ago. I give them credit for that. That's math and vision(literal vision) at work. Here's your science at work, in modern times. The Long Count calender(the one that 'predicts' something will happen on 2012) works like this. 0.0.0.0.0 represents the 11th of August, 3114 BCE. Each slot on the calender holds up to 20 numbers, 0-19. So 0.0.0.0.19 is 19 days. 0.0.0.1.0 is 20 days. 0.0.1.0.0 is about one year. 0.1.0.0.0 is about 20 years. 1.0.0.0.0 is about 400 years. The 21st of December, 2012, happens to read 13.0.0.0.0 in Long Count. Problem? Why 13 on the last slot? The other slots go up to 19 or near 19, why is the last slot cut short? Scholars are still debating as to whether or not that's when the Mayan calender actually ends or if that last slot goes higher than 13. If indeed it is supposed to go higher than 13, that effectively destroys the entire doomsday theory. There isn't enough information to know for sure at this point. Furthermore, Long Count was developed only because their circular calender could only hold 52 years, and it was not suitable to record anything historical. I very much doubt that because they've chosen to 'end' a calender developed out of a need to record historical dates at a certain date, that something mystical is going to happen. It's too fantastical for me. Look at what happens when other calenders end. In Gregorian, our calender ends on the 31st of December. Does the world end every 31st of December? Depends on where you live for that mystical winter solstice, living up north certainly will make you feel like the world is ending every year from the cold. Gregorian simply rolls over and resets itself. Hell, even the circular Mayan calender resets itself after 52 years. Where's the big disaster every 52 years? We've been missing out on that too. So why is Long Count different? Lack of actual evidence doesn't permit me to believe that the world is going to end simply because a calender ends, especially when there's precedence to fall back on with every other calender in existence rolling over. Prophecies about the world ending have been around forever, and we've been though many of them already. Remember 2000 AD? Remember the 5th of May, 2005? All asthetically beautiful numbers by the way, just like 21/12/2012. In fact there is more evidence to suggest that historically, the Mayans believed that something positive was going to happen on 2012 rather than negative. Us modern day people like negative, it sells. Look at how many modern people have been shot and killed trying to spread a message of peace and harmony. Lennon said "give peace a chance", and look where that kind of thinking got him. Look at how many negative stories run on news stations and web sites about celebrities as opposed to positive ones. Look at how many news stories run on death and destruction as opposed to positive ones. Look at how many movies come out every year dealing with negativity like the end of the world, physical conflict, fantastical destruction and things like that. We like our negativity.
  14. It looks like something Teletoon would air... except that it doesn't suck like most of the newer no-name stuff.
  15. I suppose you'd have to read between the lines to find it, but my point is that debating belief is pointless. I think you've pointed out my point quite well before you've even asked the question. I'm not going to change someone's belief, nobody's going to change mine. Things get confusing when they take dates that are never pointed out officially in religious texts, and use events written in religious texts to connect them. It's the way some people choose to interpret scriptures, and because of this you'll find even two folks under the same religion that can debate things of that faith. Because you don't believe 2012 is of significance to Christianity, doesn't mean that absolutely no one else of the same faith does. This is the very foundation of why debating over belief doesn't work well, and why I don't really want to do it. OP asked what I thought, I responded.
  16. Some Christians believe the world will end in 2012, linking that magic number with the Book of Revelations. Some believe that the big guy in the sky will come down in 2012 or something like that based upon it being approximately 2000 years after Jesus' birth, some believe Christianity will end. I'm not an expert in Christianity, I speak from what I know and what I've heard. Consensus suggests that something will happen in 2012. Whether that's purely Christian or whether it's bible-thumpers with belief that the Mayans are right and correlate that with Christian texts, I don't know. Don't care frankly, I'm saying that religion or belief of any kind isn't going to tell me that something major is going to happen in 2012. Not Christianity, not the Mayans, nothing. Fact and/or evidence however... that's a different story. I don't believe anyone is arguing here... at least I'm not. I'm sorry if you were.
  17. We can do this all day. I'd rather not. What you quoted says that no one but God knows what will happen on that date. It's a crap shoot. Could be something little, something major, or nothing at all. I say that in 5 minutes from now, something little, something major, or nothing at all will happen. Guess what? Every moment of life is like that. Furthermore, what I quoted says that no one knows what will happen on that date... and you quoted something from the Bible that says pretty much the same thing. I have to ask then, what is your point, and how does that make me a failure? The smell of failure is emanating from your direction I think. Could be my nose. Who knows? The Bible also says that children who disobey their parents shall be put to death. As I said, we can go on and on quoting things from the Bible, I'd rather not.
  18. 2012 is claimed by some to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). This claim is based on Christian text, Mayan civilization or some other source. However, there is no agreement whether in 2012 there will be the end of civilization, or humanity will be elevated to a higher level, or a new human species will evolve, or some other major catastrophe will occur. - Wikipedia
  19. On December 22, 2012, another middle finger will be added to the collection that already exists against religion. Christianity is just laughable at this point for me. The Mayans believed in human sacrifice to appease the Gods, and we haven't been doing that for quite a long time. You'd think that after all this time they'd let us know that they were pissed... yet nothing has happened, and so I say fuck the Mayans too. Fuck absolutely everything that doesn't have any tangible evidence. If anything, 2012 will happen only because of religious extremism and not by any act of God or Gods. Religion has killed billions of men, women and children and it will continue to kill billions in the future.

  21. My favorite part was when they started playing the Saw theme. Perfect timing too, right after the big twist happens.

Is it me or does the first 10 seconds of footage sound like it's been voiced by Jerry 'The King' Lawler and J.R.?
  24. It's all about the games ultimately. Go with the console that's got you most interested in it's exclusive games. Most games that are multi-platform in terms of gameplay differences are completely negligible and that's what's ultimately important(I can only remember the remake of Bionic Commando having a slight difference in gameplay on both consoles). Graphically it's a tossup from what I've seen, and quite frankly I don't ever see the PS3 being the clear winner in every case in the future in terms of graphics for multi-platform games because for one thing the PS3 is harder to program for than the 360, and really... why bother doing it in the first place? The only development teams that are really going to take advantage of Blu-Ray for multi-platform gaming are kooks like Carmack with RAGE. Blu-Ray movies can go fuck themselves. Anyone who refuses to watch regular DVDs over Blu-Ray movies is either fucking obsessed with motion pictures or is a complete techno dork that will buy the latest crap and make full use of it when in actuality the latest crap is like a toenail's length(on it's side mind you) away from it's predecessor in terms of superiority. Movies don't get much clearer than DVDs folks, and you're fooling yourselves if you think Blu-Ray is leaps and bounds better. Blu-Ray games however is a completely different thing altogether. It's a superior medium to DVD, and thus has a ton of potential(see RAGE). The only thing really that worries me about Blu-Ray gaming is when developers are going to use it's full capacity and how that's going to play out with load times. The hard drive installation thing will mitigate some of it but there will come a point eventually where either load times will get longer or your hard drives are going to get full from game installations, because CDs can only spin so fast.
