  1. why would you spend so much money on a cosmetyic that holds no real value?
  2. Figured I would give an update roughly a month in. Overall, I'm down to ~187lbs. Not really where I wanted to be, but slow progress is better than no progress. The paleo diet has pretty much failed. But, generally speaking I have been eating healthier and just making smart food choices. The regulations at the gyms now are pretty obscene so most of my exercise has been teaching and learning martial arts at my job, which is surprisingly been keeping me in at least decent shape. Doing 3, 5 minute sparring rounds does more than it would seem. I'm not too upset about failing the whole paleo thing since once I move back to campus in T-minus 2 days it'll be nearly impossible to maintain that on dining hall food. I hope everyone has been making at least some progress on their resolutions and everyone has had a generally more positive and healthy first month of 2021. Prayers for you guys.
  3. Ketchup, Mayo, Mustard? All disgusting. NOW eggs and hot sauce? fucking banger.
  4. After seeing what @edensaid in his post about admin app voting changes it give me a bit of inspiration to put my thoughts into words. I've kept quiet since future changes to admin apps and such have been foreshadowed but I feel it also can't hurt to put my thoughts out there and hear the thoughts of others. You'd need to be blind to see that there is a growing displeasure with the quality of newer admins of late (no disrespect to any current admins, what you guys do it voluntarily and should be appreciated), so it's ever clearer that the recent change to admin app voting is more than likely a step to help improve the quality of admins let into the system. I feel a good addition to a new system of getting admins would be a return of stricter requirements before applying for admin. Now, setting an arbitrary restriction on who can and can not apply for an admin position can definitely be tricky. I personally feel there should be both a time in the community requirement and a playtime requirement before being able to apply. As forums become a less popular form of communication, I think a required post count is pointless. The classic argument for this is BoTo has been staff for a long ass time and has a whopping total of like 40 public posts. Requirements such as 24 hours in-game on the applicant's favorite server and 3 months in the community would prove useful bars to set that aren't ridiculous. Ways to prove 3 months in the community would be things including: A session in server from 3 months + ago, a forum join date, or a discord join date. These of course are just limits i'm pulling out of thin air, but I think they would be an interesting starting point. (Apologies for any grammatical errors, i typed this on my phone and will fix later)
  5. As far as what the rule currently is: (straight from the FAQ, @Military_king) I see no need to change this. Jihads are NOWHERE near as threatening as they used to be. You used to be able to hit CTs from across the fucking map before they were nerfed to where they are today. On top of this, they don't even explode when you type !explode sometimes.
  6. Teamspeak...

Hey, wake up. Hey, wake up. Hey, wake up.
  7. This just seems like the CT misunderstanding the rules or just being kill hungry. Healing during an LR like gun toss where no damage is done until after the majority of the LR is over isn't really cheating. I dunno. I didn't see anything specific on this in the rules but healing during gun toss really shouldn't be an issue.
  8. Hey, so I thought it would be really neat if we put something together for a more advanced guide to CT to assist players who want to improve their CT abilities by seeing what works for other people to possibly adjust their playstyle to something new and make tips from others their own unique playstyle. This doesn't even have to be an official guide. The main goal of this thread at least from my perspective is to get into the look of the mind of people who play CT frequently and what things they do that do and don't work. It's always nice to try and improve the quality of CTs we have on the server for a better playing experience. -------------------------------- Entry 1- Good Cop vs. Bad Cop: I feel like this is one of the most fundamental skills for a CT to develop over time. You need to be able to find a balance between being a Nazi CT and being a CT who lets madness ensue. Depending on the population, it's easier to determine what type of CT to be. If there's a high population and it's harder to control the Ts, it would be more reasonable to be a bit stricter as a CT with how you give orders and enforce them. This is not to say that you can't be fun with your orders. You can still give fun, engaging orders while still enforcing them strongly to ensure a fun playing experience for both teams. When there are lower populations, it's more okay to give more goofy and "interpretable" orders. Interpretable meaning if a T spins it in a way that they rebel and magically "disappear" it's not such a big deal. How does one make a determination of what type of CT to be? Read the room the best you can. If you see your CT team is handling the server pretty well, it's safe to give some more fun orders and be a little bit looser with enforcing. That does not mean go find a cozy vent to camp, that means if you see someone grab a pistol or a nade, you may be a bit more chill and just let them have it. Just do your best to find a balance between being a chill CT and a strict CT. Also I swear to fucking god if you give "freeze, crouch, knife the ground" orders you deserve to be chemically castrated you little fucking shit Entry 2- Give Engaging Orders: Are you tired of the same "Take a step out, face the back, freeze" orders every round? Shit, me too. When you are giving the first order of a round, it would be in the server's best interest to spice up the orders, even if you just change minute details of the order. Hearing the same old, same old gets really stale and probably makes some people leave. It can't hurt to make people go right to a minigame or a different location when the cells open. Same goes with after cell orders, too. What I personally do is give the Ts more freedom with how they can use the order. Instead of being on boxes in big cage, maybe let them be wherever the want to be in the big cage! In pool maybe let them swim anywhere they want instead of just one end of the pool! This section is pretty short, but I feel like it can hopefully be self explanatory. Sometimes you must give the Ts a feign idea of control when in reality the CTs are still fully in control. -------------------------------- I'll start with just those two entries, as I would love to hear what other people have to say. Please share your own experiences for the benefits of others
  9. I never was a fan of nerfing chat orders too hard, but I think we're at a good balance right now in terms of having chat orders be fair for both sides. There is no reason to remove chat orders because there are CTs who use those orders for legitimate reasons whether it be not having a mic, having a lot of background noise, not wanting to talk, etc. Hell, we have current and have had past admins never use their mics and do just a fine job. If you have the attention span of a goldfish and can't look at chat for orders while playing, that's not my problem. I've been playing Jailbreak a bit more recently, and unless I'm missing something-- this really isn't an issue that I see? The only time I see CTs massacre for a chat order is because either: a) They didn't know their order got overwritten on voice (because they're a newer CT) OR b) It's a CT I know either doesn't have a mic or for the most part doesn't use it. I am someone who uses voice and chat orders a good deal because I usually play exclusively on CT. When I give chat orders, it's not for cheap kills. I don't use my mic sometimes simply because I don't want to talk, or because the background is loud because I'm in the process of moving. tl;dr-- It aint broke, don't "fix" it
  10. So I remember back when I was AT (now SM) for a short time, we had to manually update the CS:GO servers when an update came out for CS:GO. It seems that this is still the case. Is it possible to automatically update the servers when a new patch comes out? Are there security concerns with that and that's why it's not done? This isn't me complaining about the servers not being updated in a timely manner, it's just something I am curious about. It just seems easier in certain situations to have servers automatically update, but as with everything else in the world, it's probably not all that simple.
  11. My Monitor

I mean good is pretty subjective. "Good" is defined by the user-- depends on what you need it for, how the picture looks, if it works for you, etc. In terms of all the monitors on the market, this is an average monitor. Given you got it for free (I'm assuming) I would say it's just fine.
  12. No. Stop the count. This is fake news. If you libtards did any sort of research you could CLEARLY SEE that E is the best letter. 1. E – 11.1607% 2. A – 8.4966% 3. R – 7.5809% 4. I – 7.5448% 5. O – 7.1635% 6. T – 6.9509% 7. N – 6.6544% 8. S – 5.7351% 9. L – 5.4893% 10. C – 4.5388% This was a fraudulent poll and I think we need a recount.
  13. congrats everyone! also I guess I now must admit.... @kuriyour drip is stupendous.
  14. Rice noodles, chicken, red pepper, broccoli, chicken broth, soy sauce lil stir fry
  15. Well, after the replies from John and yourself it's clear that this change is more understandable. Not that applying for admin really has any effect on me anymore, but I guess when I was looking at it from my perspective this change didn't make much sense. To be fair, there are CA+ who interact with applicants outside of the game servers on Discord and the forums and can probably give some sort of input. I don't fully agree with this change still (not that it really matters, lol), but I'm excited to see what's coming in the future.
  16. While I can understand the logic behind this, I think it would really be best if the system we had in place for years remained put. Since the discontinuation of admin recommendations from other staff members, there has been no fundamental change to how voting on admin apps works (iirc). While there are people who shitpost and people who get their friends to make a cluster of supports/reapplys on certain people I think it's still valuable to take into consideration the opinions of those who aren't CA/SM. Firstly, why were A/SAs excluded from this? They could give just as good, if not better input on players that apply for admin because I am sure they play with the people applying as much, if not more than certain CAs and SMs. For instance, why should someone who exclusively plays ZE only get a realistic chance of getting a reply from a total of like 5-6 people? Even better an example, why would you limit someone who exclusively plays bhop to only really get valuable feedback on the application from two people at most? Secondly, while As/SAs/CAs/SMs may have many interactions with players in the server, what if a reg/member has had an interaction with an application that was overwhelmingly negative or positive that they wanted to share? Silencing people here does more harm than good if you ask me. I understand there are plenty of responses on applications now that lack substance, I still think it's worth revisiting this and giving people the power to give their two cents on applicants.
  17. 1) I wonder what personality he is today? 2) Mows lawns in the summer, commonly confused as a Mexican.
  18. Hello everyone. I am using this thread to track my own personal progress on my resolution this year and encourage people to join in this if they are looking for a better way to get healthy this new year. For the last 3-ish months, I have been unable to go to the gym due to COVID related restrictions and my job taking up time that I would usually use for the gym. In conjunction with this, I began stress eating without even realizing it just because I've been going through a rather stressful situation at home the last few months. Because of this, I've gotten to a weight I am unhappy with and want to eat clean and work out again to get to a state where I am happy with my own self. I currently weigh 194.2 lbs/ 88kg, and my goal weight is 178 lbs / 80.7kg. I intend to get to this goal through following gluten-free paleo (modified version of paleo) and doing lots of cardio and light lifting to focus on sculpting the muscle I have, and improving my cardiovascular stamina. I hope everyone here finds a way to work on themselves whether it be mentally or physically. ------------ Now the part I want to share to encourage others. What is Gluten-Free Paleo? Gluten-free paleo is a modified version of the paleo diet ("Caveman Diet") which allows for gluten-free grains in addition to the foods typically allowed on the paleo diet. I'll skip the extra stuff and just tell you what foods to avoid and what foods to eat. Foods to AVOID: Sugar and high-fructose corn syrup: Soft drinks, fruit juices, table sugar, candy, pastries, ice cream, etc. (Natural sugars found in fruits and stuff like honey is okay) Grains with Gluten: Bread, pasta, wheat, spelt, rye, barley, etc. Legumes: Beans, lentils, etc. Most Dairy: Low fat milks, low fat/soft cheese, low fat yogurt, butter, etc. Some vegetable oils: Soybean oil, sunflower oil, cottonseed oil, corn oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, etc. Trans fats: Found in margarine and various processed foods. Usually referred to as “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated” oils. Artificial sweeteners: Aspartame, sucralose, cyclamates, saccharin, acesulfame potassium. (If you want to find alternatives to sugar I recommend stuff like honey and stevia) Processed Foods: Anything with "diet" or "low-fat" is processed. If the food looks like it was made in some factory, don't go for it. Your best bet is in natural and organic foods. I understand this can get pricy though. Foods to EAT: Meat: Beef, lamb, chicken, turkey (Pork is also an option, but I'm personally allergic to pork, so I avoid it) Fish and seafood: Salmon, trout, haddock, shrimp, shellfish, etc. Eggs: Look for free-range eggs. Eggs are generally fine, but free-range is best., Vegetables: Broccoli, kale, peppers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, etc. (Generally speaking, vegetables are fine but I personally like to avoid GMOs) Fruits: Apples, bananas, oranges, pears, avocados, strawberries, blueberries, etc. (Same principal of vegetables, most are fine, but avoid GMOs) Tubers: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, turnips, etc. (I personally abstain from potatoes, but baking a potato or sweet potato with some spices is always a good bet) Nuts and seeds: Almonds, macadamia nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. Healthy fats and oils: Extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and others. Salt and spices: Sea salt, garlic, turmeric, rosemary, etc. Gluten-Free Grains: Rice, corn, oats, and quinoa. (For rice, brown rice is best, but white rice is acceptable) Edit: Typically the only things you want to drink are water, coffee (preferably black), and hot tea I hope this was able to help someone else, and I will be posting progress every so often to keep anyone interested updated on my resolution and goal.
  19. rip patriddlerr man i hope he is doing okay...
  20. This topic has been brought up so many times at this point I think if I had a dollar for every time this was brought up in the last 18 months, I could probably buy elite supporter. As expressed by ZZL in his post, there is no change coming to the requirement. Think of it like this: it's like putting a band-aid on your thumb. Use a little finger band-aid and it works, but isn't perfect. The bigger the rubber band, the worse it gets. As far as players go, an approach I think that could be reasonable for the time being is seeing the average amount of players at peak times over the last month and making it enable at around 2/3 of that peak. That way, if the pop doesn't hit 20, it can still help prevent rule breakers.
