Revamped "Head Guard"
Phoenix_ posted a topic in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
Before I start this, this is going to essentially just a "2.0" of this suggestion I made back in January. Well, I am back again with another suggestion that I believe may be a way to provide structure and give CTs the ability to control the map regardless of CT skill level. I know before most "warden-like" suggestions have been shot down under the manager's dislike of moving towards a warden system, but we can not keep avoiding the fact that the CT side NEEDS more structure moving forward or the server will continue to devolve and become more and more unplayable. I really think this system gives a chance of providing more balance to the game and allows a more "RP" driven style of play and a push away from the "death-matchy" type of play. So, what would this exactly entail? The 'Head Guard'- This guard would type !headguard or !hg after x amount of population on the server (let's say 30, as a temporary example) would receive 150 health, and a kevlar and helmet. This guard would be responsible for the creation of !tmute(s) and would be allowed to overwrite the orders of his/her fellow CTs. This would allow for a definite answer in times where 5 CTs are talking over each other and would prevent confusion and unnecessary warning shots and kills. Another thing I thought of that would be a good buff for CT/'Head Guard' would be that the head guard would be able to mark a T with !rebeller (by choosing their name from a menu), and it would put a beacon on them for 3 seconds. The Head Guard could use this twice per round, with x amount of time in-between. This would allow CTs to find a hiding rebeller that would otherwise wreck the round. If the original head guard died, one more person would be allowed to use !headguard in the round. Before you all complain like before with "people will abuse the power of overriding orders" and "we can't give regulars power or they will abuse it", stop. Just stop. Literally, every other Jailbreak server entrusts someone to control the entire round via being a solitary Warden and it seems to be going perfectly fine. For the future benefit of the server, the CT side needs more structure to function as a cohesive unit and be able to push forward the "RP" aspect of this game mode. Just like those servers, if someone abuses those powers-- punish them and use them as an example of what not to do. Don't let the fear of what a small minority might do ruin the idea for the general benefit of the server. Normal Guards- Normal guards would still be allowed to give orders as usual, but their orders would be susceptible to being overwritten by the Head Guard. The only exception is that Normal Guards can override a Head Guard's freeday. On top of this, normal guards would have 110 health, but no armor. Firstly, I think the guards should get more health, but no armor since most other Jailbreak servers don't give the CTs armor, and I think that would be a good change especially if there was a head guard with armor. This would put more of a target on the Head Guard's back, and I never really saw the reason of giving the guards armor and buffed HP. Secondly, I don't think the whole overriding orders would cause any confusion, or at least any more than there already is. I think this system would remedy most of the current problems with CTs talking over each other. As always, your feedback and criticisms are appreciated. -

LR Grey Area
Phoenix_ posted a topic in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
As defined in the rules: in theory allows a T to be killed if the CT slays themselves for whatever reason or if the participating CT gets killed by another T. I think this leaves a big grey area for LRs and is something that should be clarified by changing the wording of this rule. Instead of : I think it should be something along the lines of While this is a bit wordier, I think it's a necessary clarification to have since I think it's bullshit that I've been seeing multiple instances of CTs slaying after losing gun toss which cheats the T out of their reward for winning, and I've seen multiple instances of Ts being killed for "completing their LR" because the CT participating gets killed. As always, please share your thoughts and concerns on this if you would like. Edit: This was brought up HERE and said it would be fixed with the new LR plugin, but the problem still remains. -
MGT Suggestions
topic replied to Phoenix_'s Prez in Event Suggestions & Feedback
MGT Suggestion Suggestion/Idea: GMOD Murder Link to plugin/gamemode (if applicable): Just host a server lol Why do you think this would make a good MGT?: Fun gamemode, would be cool to have a server for a week. Plus if this were the June MGT (cough cough) it would be the start of Summer and get a lot of players I think. Also tons of people have GMOD, and it's cheap enough that someone (me, or someone else) could do a giveaway of a couple of copies. -

CT Rank Skin Suggestions
topic replied to Phoenix_'s TheZZL in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
While this gives a cool little knack to playing CT, I don't think this would be a good addition to the server for 2 reasons. Firstly, this would reduce the incentive of VIP skins on the server and reduce the incentive of getting VIP or Sub if you exclusively play JB or at least spend most of their time there. Secondly, models take a good amount of time to test and implement and take quite a bit of time to download for players, and reducing the number of models or at least keeping the number we have now would be better than adding 9+ models. I think these models could get used elsewhere though, they are cool looking models for the most part and could be part of the model rotation on a few of the servers. I don't think this specific suggestion would be good, but the models are quality. -
A Jailbreak ELO System
topic replied to Phoenix_'s Phoenix_ in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
How doesn't it make sense? If the points for kills is .5 and a round win is 4 points or 5 points, it will take either 8 or 10 kills in a round simply to match the number of points of a round win. Overall, as a unit, this change would encourage the CTs to work as a team, even if most of the kills go to the top 2 or 3 CTs like it always has. The main goal of this idea is to try and get CTs out of their hidey holes and actually enforce orders effectively. The CTs shouldn't have to rely on the round time running out to get a round win. If a group of CTs is efficiently giving and enforcing orders, they will get to LRs at a reasonable point in the round and finish the round before the round timer runs up. I honestly feel like the fear of moving more towards a deathmatch-like server is totally exaggerated here and it would, as I said, move away from that with this concept. It's very clear we're on two different pages, and I honestly don't see this idea going anywhere with 2 managers individually disagreeing already, but it is what it is. To your edit- Well with your argument it would make even more sense to do fun deathgames or fun orders because Ts will easily rebel and be more free kills, right? EDIT- Update: Changed the OP so that headshot kills are no longer factored in, the value for a kill on CT is halved, and round win value is upped to 4 or 5. @Dominic @Infinityward @Bacon If the aspect of kills equating to points was removed and points on CT were completely reliant on round wins/losses would this idea become more viable in your guys' eyes? -
A Jailbreak ELO System
topic replied to Phoenix_'s Phoenix_ in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
I totally disagree. As it stands right now, we can't get much closer toward a deathmatch style server. The rounds on maps with well-known secrets last all of 2 minutes tops because the CTs get wiped out so fast, there are too little CTs to gain map control, or a combination thereof. If we had kills worth .5 points and a round win for CTs worth 5 points, CTs would not go for as many kills as possible and will do their best to get a round win, whether that mean giving better/more orders, working with teammates, etc. On top of this, CTs already go for as many kills as possible for a few reasons. One, they have to because ratio on maps like razor are so terrible, they have no choice but to be trigger happy or they just want kills for their K/D. I think this system will have the adverse effect of what you say and actually push towards CTs working together to get round wins if we provide a far heavier award for getting round wins as opposed to kills. If you're that dissatisfied with the kill portion of this, it may be a good idea to look into if it's possible to only reward points for kills against Ts with Primaries, Ts who have shot a gun, and/or Ts who have damaged a CT. I know it's possible to determine if a T shoots a certain gun because our LR plugin does this. If they shoot a gun, they could be marked with something behind the scenes that rewards a CT for killing them. Outside of that, I look forward to hearing about the other things being worked on to try and absolve this issue, and I hope to be able to give feedback when possible. I appreciate the response. I believe that guards keeping order implies needing to kill. If Ts get guns and try to kill CTs, the CTs NEED to kill them to maintain order. Giving them an incentive to kill people incentives them from just sitting in one spot the whole round or not just going off and doing their own thing. Fun activities will certainly still be a thing on the server, and I feel like this change would aid the roleplay aspect because often times now we don't even get to the roleplay aspect because the CTs are wiped out so quickly. I disagree with the roleplay being taken away if this change were to be made as stated in the last sentence. If you make the rewards for getting kills minimal in comparison to round wins, there will be MORE incentive to give fun orders to let Ts rebel but also reward the CTs for keeping the prison in order. There are CTs now already who give intricate orders until they fuck up and get shot. There are CTs now who will warning shot at the slightest transgression .5 seconds after the order is given. Point being, there will be dickhead CTs no matter the system that's implemented, and that's the nature of the beast. As stated in my reply to Infinity, I think this would do the opposite and push us away from the deathmatch server we hope to avoid. As also stated in the OP, I think that taking a big risk to try and revamp the server where much change is needed is worth trying, even if it's not this suggestion. I'm honestly just tired of the same bullshit on a broken record player and months of "if someone thinks of something to fix this problem, please suggest it." and then not many impactful suggestions come by, and even fewer are implemented. I thought of an idea, and I put it on the table. If it doesn't go anywhere, oh well, but it's something I think can genuinely help the server. -

A Jailbreak ELO System
Phoenix_ posted a topic in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
Why an ELO system? Having an ELO system on our Jailbreak server would fundamentally change the meta of the server, or essentially change how our players play on the servers while keeping the chaotic atmosphere that makes Steam-Gamers Jailbreak what it is. There's no question that the current state of the server needs to be changed because it seems that players are wanting to play CT less and less, and this is an urgent problem that needs to be changed for the future prosperity of the server. Prisoner ELO System I got this idea once the T ranks were reset because I think this would be an interesting new way of having the Ts ranked. This, and the CT ELO, are going to be rather similar to how our Retakes & 1v1 servers work in terms of ranking players. For the prisoners, the rank system itself would remain the same, and players would not be assigned a competitive rank such as in Retakes & 1v1, this change is only to how points are scored. I think it would be interesting to change up how Ts earn points, and it would go as follows: • +2 Points per CT killed. • +1 or .5 Point(s) per T round win. (Depending on if the plugin author chose whole numbers or decimals for point tracking) • -1 Point per death. • -2 Points per CT round win. I'll explain the -1 Point per death to headshot since it's a bit odd. Yes, headshots can be total luck if a spray goes wild, but the point is to make oneself hard to kill and avoid being a one-shot kill for the CT. Guard ELO System This is the BIG part of the change. I think that having CT rank based on playtime alone isn't good in ranking CTs based on ability because time played is not always equivalent to the ability of the CT. Also, there are many high school and college students who play the servers who are flooded with work outside the Summer season who simply can't compete with the younger crowd who can just dump hours into the server. Basing CT ranks off the following I think would be a better determinate of the skill of CTs and provide more incentive of playing CT since someone who is more skilled but has less time can compete with someone less skilled with more free time.: • +.5 Point per T killed. • +4/5 Points per CT round win. • -1 Point per death. • -1 Points per T round win. Now, I can understand the concern over CTs farming for kills and the potential of stricter orders, warning shots, etc. But, I really don't think it's going to be as much of an issue people will make it out to be. This type of system has been brought up in the past but there were concerns over kill-hungry CTs just farming kills. I think now is a time more than ever the CT side needs change because more recently the CT team, no matter the players has generally been getting DECIMATED on a lot of maps, and it's time for a change, even if experimental. I discussed this in part with @Bacon today, and he expressed the same concerns as above. I understand it may be a concern, but I think it would bring more benefit at least to test a system such as this even if the plugin is a lot of work and may fail, I think the risk here is worth the potential award. On top of this, I believe that rewarding the most for a CT round win will encourage team play, cohesive guards, and good orders. As far as how the new CT ranks would go, here is a primitive version of what I thought up: • Rank 1, Private - 0 points • Rank 2, Sergeant - 90 points, 6 hrs of 15 points/hour • Rank 3, Officer - 360 points, 1 day of 15 points/hour • Rank 4, Lieutenant - 720 points, 2 days of 15 points/hour • Rank 5, Captain - 1800 points, 5 days of 15 points/hour • Rank 6, Major - 2880 points, 8 days of 15 points/hour • Rank 7, Colonel - 4320 points, 12 days of 15 points/hour • Rank 8, General - 5400 points, 15 days of 15 points/hour This would, of course, be a huge change if this were to happen, so I encourage JB staff and regulars alike comment on this if you think it's an idea with merit or an idea that should be abandoned. -
Change Requirements for !tmute
Phoenix_ posted a topic in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
As of right now, the requirements for using !tmute are 10 CTs and 20 Ts. I think the requirement to use it should be based off the player count of the total server and not per-team. Unless I'm being dumb, this means that there could be 8 CTs and 24 Ts, and the CTs wouldn't be able to use !tmute because there aren't 10 CTs. Trying to give orders with three times the number of your CTs, especially at that population is difficult with all the Ts speaking. If we changed it to a flat 30 online I think it would be better for mic management at higher pops. -
[Reviewing] Model Suggestions

Thread name says it all. Here are some models I think would be good for the servers that would want to use them. Gamebanana links are hyperlinked to the character's names. 1. Deku x Uraraka 2. Issac Clarke Security Suit 3. Donald Trump (this would be great for a protect the president event (*wink wink*) ) -
jb ct's
topic replied to Phoenix_'s Rawmondz in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
I do agree that the Ts scare off people from playing CT, but I disagree with the reason. Toxicity is part of the entity that is jailbreak. Our server thrives off a chaotic and toxic environment where it's fast-paced action on both ends. I think the reason that CTs are getting scared off is the discrepancy of good Ts to good CTs. This is a combination of people who are experienced on CT just wanting to chill and rebel on T and newer players who have overall less experience playing CT. To be a good T doesn't require much time on the server, all you really need is the ability to find a gun and decent aim. To be a good CT you need to give engaging orders and control the map, which can be hard for anyone, even experienced players, to do at times. I'm not going to suggest some end-all-be-all solution to this because it's a multi-faceted, complex problem the server has faced for a couple of years now. While I commend the managers for trying to balance ratio out by resetting both CT and T ranks simultaneously and giving an incentive of credits to play CT, I think this measure was rather ineffective. Many of the skilled CT players have large amount of times on the server and already have more credits than they know what to do with, so they would rather just participate in the friendly competition for top T rank. On top of this, T rank competition is more skill-based as you could spend less time on the server and still compete if you are a skilled player, while CT competition solely relies on server playtime, and not everyone wants to grind hours on CT. -

all cts camping
topic replied to Phoenix_'s the baconator in Jailbreak -- jb.steam-gamers.net
Well, it depends on how they play it-- if they all are just sitting up in that one spot and camping that single spot, it's not really enforcing. If they actually ensure no one is in death crate via going up and down the ladder, then it's enforcing. Well, the way you're describing this, can't all freedays be considered a warday? Generally, when a "full freeday" is called, CTs just go to secrets and armory, enabling and encouraging rebelling. I mean as far as our current rules are concerned wardays are technically off-limits but when a freeday is called on a map like razor or revamp, it's essentially a warday with all the secrets on the map. I personally don't see anything wrong with the whole camping secrets while freeday thing because it's fun for the CTs to be able to get cheap kills and fun for the Ts to try and get the pussy CTs. But to re-address the OP-- if they are just camping in one spot and not enforcing the whole area of their freeday, they're technically delaying/not enforcing. If you see people repeatedly doing stuff like this I encourage you to !calladmin or, in extreme cases, make a player complaint. -

[Applied] Retakes/1v1 Fly Like an Eagle
Phoenix_ posted a topic in Event Suggestions & Feedback
Hey again, I just had another idea for an event. Retakes and 1v1 seem like servers where it's tricky to make unique events and I think this may be something similar but different to try. I think it'd be neat that if the scores were reset for 1v1 and/or retakes it would be a fun time to race to get to LEM first. The winner would get some sort of prize like a skin, credits, game, or whatever was decided upon. There wouldn't be any hard time cap on this event but would definitely encourage some friendly competition to be that first LEM. -
JB- Gun Game
topic replied to Phoenix_'s Phoenix_ in Event Suggestions & Feedback
I mean I originally made this thread over 6 months ago, but something I just thought of that may be an interesting spin on this would be like sort of a "Head Guard" (protect the president) vs prison gang sort of thing? Like one guard chosen by plugin or CA+ manually would get 400-500HP and it would be the job of the CTs to try and keep them alive, while the Ts tried to protect their top gunman since they have the most powerful weapon. But if this event were done similarly to how I suggested, I would say either all CTs get like +15 HP or like just a small buff that incentivizes playing CT. I'll think about this more tomorrow as it's very late now.
