  1. Not to derail my own thread, but could this be made more in depth? While it covers the process in detail, I see many complaints rejected because there isn't enough rulebreaking or the player hasn't been sufficiently warned. I think it would be nice to have what constitutes a good complaint in the guide.
  2. I feel that an advice sub-forum would be a useful addition to the forums. Not only would it clear some clutter and differentiate posts from Question's & Info, but it would also allow for other useful posts. I feel that it would be very useful to allow players to ask for advice about things like making player complaints, etc., but most importantly, it would allow potential admin applicants to ask for advice before applying for admin. This would not only allow players to get specific advice from a broader range of players and members, but also give them a general sense of where they stand. This would also allow people to clear things like previous bans, patently false statements, and simple misunderstandings rather than having to address/defend them in their actual application.
  3. The only reason I could think of was if some scripters used it to intentionally make sure they didn't look sus. This, however, not only seems unlikely but would also negate the whole point of them scripting in the first place. Additionally it's nice to have stats like strafe sync and scroll hits to practice.
  4. TTT WITH GENTOO! I JUST GOT OFF OF WORK SO COME PLAY TTT WITH ME! ADMINS FEEL FREE TO PUNISH ANY AND ALL RULE BREAKERS. jk, I'll be there ig
  5. Bitch did you just jack my old profile pick? We're through, Ned, pack your bags.
  6. Not only is everything said by @Manny true, but the blame usually falls on the Ts anyways. More often than not, the Ts have intentionally stacked in the T with the gun, assuming that the CTs won't shoot a stack, and they will be able to pick up the gun if the CT does end up killing the one currently holding it. Disappointed that they got shot, they whine freekill. There is almost always more than enough leeway in orders that would allow you to purposely distance yourself from a T with a gun, in which case you could actually make the case of freekill and not crossfire.
  7. "Jackal" @Caution
  8. @delirium While it seems, first glance, that this would be something very obvious, players have been taking this vaguely worded rule into their own hands by misconstruing it and interpreting it however they please. Not to shift the blame, because this is something that should be very easy to understand, but the lack of AT/SR/SA activity on the server has allowed newer players to become confused or misled by this rule.
  9. As big as your wall of text was, it was basically just copy-pasted from the rules that other servers have. The reason our server attracts so many players is because of how forgiving and open it is to players. For instance, warning shots and not having !silence (a very abusable command, mind you), allows players to talk at a reasonable volume between each other without getting blasted because they didn't hear the CT tell them to face left. I understand your concerns with the server, and I sympathize with the issues you have taken notice to, but I don't feel that SG is comfortable sacrificing the core premise of our server just to get a better CT win ratio.
  10. The issue has been acknowledged, and they've determined that this isn't the solution they want to follow at the current time. Thanks for the suggestion.
  11. "I'm smarter than you because I eat my own cum" - @All Ts
  12. [video=youtube_share;mTzEp4CeWT8] A friend of mine took his own life the night before New Year's Eve; that shit hurts. If anyone wants to share some sad alt/indie music, it wouldn't go unappreciated.
  13. sv_ledge_mantle_helper 0 @Grateful @WavY @Wawa
  14. The first order must be called so that it can be enforced. If you haven't told Ts to freeze, you can't shoot them for running around. If you call the First Order first, only then can you shoot Ts disobeying. To expound upon this further, anyone who takes !fo should try to leave armory ASAP rather than waiting for an ak or whichever gun they want.
  15. The plugin does work, but it's the maps that are causing the issue as far as I can tell. From what I've seen, there are two types of music: ambient map music, and sourced music (projected from an entity). So when you use !stopmusic, it will stop the ambient music so that you want hear it when you aren't near disco, but the Disco music still plays, loud as hell, mind you. I play with a voice_scale of .1-.3 so I keep my volume loud and get completely earraped by disco. This is something that I've dealt with forever, but I think desperately needs fixed. I'm sure this is something that could drive away newer players that don't like being blasted by music and unable to hear orders.
  16. My news years resolution is to buy Steam-Gamers.net
  17. To clarify, I said New Year's, and he misheard it
  18. I think we should just make it against the rules to call freeday for !fo. Not only would it hinder the CTs taking !fo and spamming freeday, but it would help on the first round when people don't hear the restrictions and complain about freekill. You can still have first round and all round freedays, they can just be called after calling a regular !fo (take one step out, face the back, etc.).
  19. filtered. Try The Antlers; Wake, Bear, and Parade are my fav tracks by them.
  20. I think he's referring to at the end of the map, when everyone spams nextmap to see what it's switching to and decide if they want to leave or stay.
  21. If our server is doing well, clearly we're getting something right. I'm not going to use that to justify shutting down his ideas, but it would help if he had some reasoning as to why he thinks these would improve the server.
  22. JB's mechanics, and especially its maps, allow for more leeway in terms of events. Most events on TTT would be difficult to apply without completely removing the core gameplay mechanics. Things like fun rounds, I feel, are the best way to have an event on TTT, as it preserves the core goal of the server, while allowing more creative and downright hilarious gameplay.
  23. Not sure if it's working for anyone else, but !hidearms now just hides gloves on TTT and not your arms @Agent Wesker @Gator @Im Sad
  24. I'm going to say that we should stay on the conservative side of issuing bans for "ooga booga" for a number of reasons: a) Ooga Booga does not have "historical" references of being used in a racist sense like any of the other words on the racism list in the admin section b) Ooga Booga is not currently present on the admin list for racist words c) Ooga Booga is a term used in a number of other occasions, including games, movies, and referencing neanderthal speech. I feel that it only makes sense to ban players if it can be clearly seen using derogatively or pointed towards other players. While I don't feel that someone should take advantage of a questionable term simply because it's recently been cleared as okay, the fact that it has been cleared as okay should protect players from bans when they don't fall into the categories above. A similar situation occurred when someone on TTT (with many racist previous names) donned the name "Lynchables". This seemed like a clear cut case of racism, given the historical use of the word and the player's previous names, but it was later cleared by higher ups because there was no way to prove the term "lynch" as racist, given that it's dictionary definition simply means being hung without trial, usually by a mob. On a different note, would anyone mind giving a concise summary of SG's stance on anti-semitism? When I first joined, I remember it being a grey area, which usually went unpunished. However, I thought I recalled a harsher stance being taken on it later, with several ban reasons being issued with the term "racism/anti-semitism". As of recently, I've heard many regs and admins quoting in Teamspeak that it's okay to make fun of Jews because "It's a religion like Islam". For whatever it's worth to the situation: Jews are a protected race under the Civil Rights Act, however, following WWII, Jews specifically prefer to be referenced as an ethnicity and not a race. https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/u-s-court-rules-jews-are-protected-race-under-civil-rights-act-1.6291921 http://www.jewfaq.org/judaism.htm The moral of the story here is generally to respect all peoples and players, but we can't just go about banning anyone that makes a "joke" targeted towards a certain group of people, or can we?
