  1. To avoid confusion, I would say "freeze" if the T's are coming too close to you. That way you have a chance to get to safety and anyone who keeps on walking can be shot without any gray area whatsoever. BW, if DJ booth is restricted and the T's come close to it, you can just tell them to go back to the dance floor and that eliminates the same gray area. Sounds like the guards just aren't being specific enough which creates confusion.
  2. Going away :(

    Have a good vacation.
  3. Once you make a total of 10 posts on the forum, it will let you upload an avatar.
  4. I agree with the admins on this. Complaint sections haven't been open like that for 8 years, because before that people would reply to things they weren't involved with etc, and it's just a matter of time before it would happen again tbh if it was opened back up. If you've got additional proof to add, PM an admin or higher up or the CA who dealt with the complaint and they will take a look at it. Replies saying that the guy was banned once or twice before are just clutter to the thread, we already know if a player's been banned before. We look at that when we ban players and bans often get perm/longer if a person has multiple bans. And finally, if you break the rules, you get banned. If they want to appeal on the forum then they're welcome to, and if you have something at that point to add, you can message an admin or AO to post for you. If we start having say "I don't think he should be banned", it's your word against the proof, and generally speaking the proof is gonna win that argument.
  5. Basically, having an absolutely perfect ratio isn't exactly a necessity, as long as it's somewhat reasonable. There's room for a little flexibility with it and the plugin would interfere with said flexibility. Same general reason we don't have an LR plugin on the server.
  6. There was another thread a few hours ago about admins not being on, so I'll just post what I wrote earlier. You can use the forum shoutbox as well to ask for an admin, I forgot to mention that in the other thread. As far as the wait limit, I don't see it happening. Aaand I just realized Metal already closed the thread...
  7. Topic answered, SA's fired, thread closed.
  8. There are dozens of active admins who play in the servers and help keep them clean, but understand that we can't always spend hours upon hours playing. When no admins are in the servers, which sometimes happens, you can record a demo or screenshot proof of rulebreakers and post a complaint on our forum, then we can ban them off of the proof provided. Another thing that helps is joining our Teamspeak server to ask an admin to join real quick and handle whatever is going on. Other than that, you may want to ask other admins to add you to their friends lists. That way you'll have more admins to turn to other than just one or two if the server is in need of attention. To find out who is an admin, look for the players with the [sG] tag in their names.
  9. You got your 100 anyway @Spartan
  10. I agree with Spiked, although when I first read the thread I thought it was a pretty clever idea knowing the way that server is, lol
  11. Nope, I already removed subforums for a bunch of sections last year to clean up the various useless subforums we had. To see what's applied/rejected/reviewing/etc, click the prefix and it will show you all threads with whatever prefix you're looking for in each section.
  12. We had something like this in late 2009 and 2010, called the Apprentice Program. Before anybody could become a full server admin (SA), they had to be an Apprentice Admin (or trial admin, as you called it) first, with limited powers. It was probably one of the most unnecessary ranks we've ever had. If you're gonna get admin on any level, you should just get it in full because if you abuse it then you get striked like all the other admins. That way it's less work to figure out who's "ready" for admin, less micromanaging, etc. If someone thinks they would be a good admin, it's up to them to prove to their peers that they deserve it, since they're the ones who support their applications. This way it's one less step, thus one less complication to the system that really isn't worth the trouble. It's one of those ideas that might look good on paper, but when it's put into effect, things just become jumbled. Bringing something like this back requires too much unnecessary handholding, and if you're not able to restrain yourself from using the "fun" commands like slap when you shouldn't, you shouldn't be an admin on any level in the first place. Also no admin can ban for longer than 1 week without approval from a higher up (AO+). If new admins need help learning commands, how to handle certain situations, etc, then they are usually pretty good about asking a higher up or fellow admin about it. Not to mention that the admins we do approve these days would probably all get promoted to full admin very shortly after being an Apprentice, so with that said, there's just not much of a point to bringing that system back. Votekick/voteban also not coming back, it's been abused in the past so if someone's breaking rules, get proof and post a complaint, or call in an admin.
  13. Onion

    Who's Onion?
  14. Making a demo is what you should be doing for complaints. If the demo is long, you can fast forward through it when you play it back by typing demoui in console. Then like Goku said, post the tick mark so we know when the incident is happening, and that way we won't have to wait. The reason we want demos and not YouTube videos is so we can hold on to the proof if we need to should the person appeal or get permbanned. If you just upload a video to YouTube, you can take it off at anytime and we can't do anything about it, then we're left with nothing if it comes up in an appeal. So demos are the way to go for complaints.
  15. This was discussed to some degree in the CA section as well. We're not going to switch to Discord, at least not right now. TS3 already serves the purpose, and since it's still very popular and not broken, there isn't much of a reason to switch.
  16. XeNo.....
  17. It's hard to believe this community is nearly 9 years old already, and since we're announcing some new promotions today, I'd like to begin by thanking everybody who held these positions before: President/Owner, Vice President, Board of Directors, Administrative Manager, Administrative Officers, Executive Officers, Technical Director, Technical Administrator, Account Administrator, Marketing Administrator, Event Coordinator, Web Administrator, Community Enforcers, Community Advisors, and last but far from least, Legends. Because of the dedication and work you all put into this place, we are where we are today, and we were where we were when others were in these roles before you, with you, and after you. It's amazing to think how much this community has evolved and we really appreciate the things you've done for us. So many of you we can't thank enough for going above and beyond to do things you knew were right or good for the community without being asked, even though it might have required more work, more time, and more effort. But that's ultimately what makes this place run smoothly. Thank you all for dedicating so much time and energy to SG, and ZM for those who were here when it was still ZM. Many of you may not have seen some of the titles above in years, and some of the newer members may not have seen them before at all. But I think it's important to know how this community got to where it is today, and with the anniversary of our forums approaching shortly, this is a great time to thank those individuals for everything they have done for us. We would not be here if it wasn't for those who built this place in the beginning, so take a moment to appreciate that history that got us where we are. We've had many great higher up teams over the years, and we have a great one now as well. Thank you all. With that being said, here are the promotions we are announcing today: We have decided to promote 2 current admins to the rank of Community Advisor. Both are dedicated, longtime admins in the community and we appreciate the input they continue providing for us. Congratulations to Metal and Spazmonkey as they perform these tasks: Advise the higher staff on important decisions Handling player complaints and issuing bans Moderation of the forum Give awards to members on request Send group invitations to members on request Keep servers clean from rule breakers Issue warnings/kicks/bans Screenshot/demo proof for permanent bans Request permanent bans via on the forum Post in-game server problems on the forum Help in any way to make the servers fun Also congrats to Gunner412 who will be joining the Legends. He has been here for ages and has always voiced valuable input to the community. Here is the elaborate list of responsibilities for Legends: Show off with their cool purple font Keep servers clean from rule breakers Issue warnings/kicks/bans Screenshot/demo proof for permanent bans Request permanent bans via on the forum Post in-game server problems on the forum Help in any way to make the servers fun Lastly, SpikedRocker has agreed to join the Board of Directors once again, and we are looking forward to having him with us on the Board. Here are the duties performed in the position of BD: Support/build/fix servers Approve admin applications Set up new Admin and Subscriber access Issue admin warnings/punishments Keep the community updated of any changes Final say in all admin disputes Plan for growth (website/servers) Support forum/plugins/logos Support Teamspeak 3 channels/admins Grant access rights to Teamspeak 3 Review and implement community suggestions Promote/demote server admins Manage public relations/marketing/events Be a role model to all admins/setting by example Collect donations, manage subscriptions, and pay the bills Manage the website, forums, and bansite Manage AO staffing and responsibilities ... anything else that needs to be done Thank you all for your continued dedication to SG, and please join me in welcoming these 4 into their new roles!
  18. If you have suggestions, feel free to make map requests here.
  19. I miss vent.
  20. The Top 10 Stats part at the bottom of the forum shows you recent threads/replies, including reply/view counts of the thread, times/dates of the last post, who last posted in the thread, and the forum in which the thread was posted.
  21. I don't think there's a way to do this to start with, but it would get abused sooner or later if there was. Basically Caution hit the nail on the head with his response, lol. It's not a bad idea, I thought about it a while ago myself, but this was the conclusion I arrived at then too, unfortunately.
  22. I looked around and didn't see any way of individual users changing it for their own personal liking. Pretty much this tbh, just going to keep it as is since it will always look strange to some people no matter what format is used.
  23. The forum shows that your subscription ended on the 24th of September, but this was around the time when we moved webhosts and because of that, things got a little screwy with the subscriber tracking system. This is why we had asked all Subscribers who subscribed before October 1st to cancel their subscriptions and resubscribe so we can actually track it. So while it might be going through on PayPal, I can't track that it's still going through via the forum, since Caution is the only one with PayPal access. I'll need @Caution to confirm that it's still going through on his end. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll need you to cancel your current subscription via PayPal, and resubscribe using this link so we can track your subscriber status again. The issue is that it's not being tracked on the forum. If you were still subscribed and you didn't get the subscriber perks for x amount of time, we'll make sure you still get the perks for the time lost.
  24. We'll be sure to answer this at the meeting Stay tuned
  25. @R3TROATTACK ate the last of the cake :/
